Sam, you're a saint.. My mother was bringing up the family during WW-2 and she used to tell me the shelves were almost bear of food all the time ( I was a post war arrival). Hello Sam! Here in Colorado, USA, a full shopping cart would cost $250 to $300 of food. Other things that Grandma’s really like, or at least I think they do, is: warm socks for winter, underwear, hairbrushes or hair ties, clips, shoes, and pajamas. We kind of had a similar situation with a babushka in France. We found her living with cats, no food, and the house smelled horrible. When we bought her those things mentioned above and cleaned up her house, she was very happy. Her favorite things were the winter socks, like the thick kind you can walk with, pajamas, and kinder Bueno!! Thank you for helping this babushka!! Yes, hoarding might be a slight problem, but maybe she doesn’t know how to throw things away? Like the broken buckets?

It's called purchasing power parity - RUBLE is the most undervalued currency in the world right now, so you can imagine that if some people in Vladimir get the monthly salary of $600 they are considered wealthy. Everything is relative in this world.
@gerrelldrawhorn89756 ай бұрын
Exactly. The reason she needs that food is because she is surviving on about $200/month. Average salary is $600. She could never afford that fridge. The ruble was once 20 to the dollar not so long ago. The currency was supported extensively after the sanctions, with banks and money lenders being shut down and the dollar only being exchanged with a large transaction fee- when the ruble lost half it's value, but there was a recovery to 100 rubles/dollar. The director of the Russian Treasury said that the measures taken were unsustainable and submitted her resignation. Putin refused to allow her exit. Now the Ruble is trading at 200/dollars on the foreign black market in Thailand, Vietnam, India. So since the war the Ruble is about 1/5th the value. The greatest impact is in foreign produced goods and imported foods.

Great video. Please don’t move her. In my experience when the elderly get moved after living forever in one place, even if it is a nicer apartment, they will have a sudden health event and die shortly after moving. That move, is incredibly stressful on them, whether anyone knows that or not, it is. I’m 61, and 3 yrs ago my wife and I built and moved into our final home. It’s in a 55+ community. I see new neighbors move in from all corners of the US, and the elderly, say 75+, usually pass away within a few months. It’s that move that does it, and the shock of change. I think what you’ve done for her is already over the top. I suppose you can rinse and repeat and find another babushka to ultimately help support with these mitzvahs and kind acts. Again, great video, keep em coming

In Germany, you would be looking at about €150 or more. And that was for your $60 purchase.
@Juhani967 ай бұрын
u are comparing rich people of germany to poor population of russia. I assume your avarage salary is about same than finnish one (3000 euros/ month)
@jackofswords77 ай бұрын
@@Juhani96 You are sadly mistaken if you think the average German is "rich". Those days are long gone. These days in Germany € 3000 upwards is a salary that most Germans dream of € 2 - 2,5 thousand is the norm. Besides I was comparing prices not wages. But obviously, Finns are rich. Btw. Russia has long since overtaken Germany and even Japan to attain the world ranking 4th place in purchasing power according to the World Bank.

That is crazy about the eggs, USA they are $5 to $6 USD a dozen. Of course they went up after the Sanctions lol. They used to be $4 a dozen 3 years ago. You can't get 2 bags of groceries for $60 USD now in the US. Your a great guy, Sam! Bless You!

They were not really $10!!! It was just to get the attention of viewers

its not the sanctions rly, mostly inflation.. and it will stabilize in time. You are lucky u dont have to survive whole month with about 100 dollars to food.

A quid for a bag of spuds! That was some shopping load you got. ‘Greenfield’ tea and ‘Pollok’ fish, the names of 2 districts in Glasgow. I recommend not going to either. ‘Chupa-Chups’ is Spanish slang for ‘suck it and see’. Sam your Italian accent is way superior than mine, and you remembered the name of Jaffa Cakes just in time for the subtitles. That was really awesome you went back to the older woman, and went to the local clergyman - it was a result that one of your prescribers was in confessing and spoke up for you, very fortuitous. A big load of messages (Scot’s term) or shopping, a fridge, a water container with a pump, that is really kind hearted. I cannot believe all that supermarket load was fifty quid. Say hallo to the woman (and her husband) who travelled with you - i recognise her from another video, and i hope the babushka sees out another winter as before. She praised God and thanked you, abundantly. Great video upload. *_/Thumbs up/_* You shopping can cost 300 dollars in US from what i read, and Britain is getting quite ‘enthusiastic’ with the pricing as well. I hope the babushka has a really fine summer. Great video upload Sam. && no piped music in the supermarket, such bliss. (Waves to church minister if he has wifi in there).

That much food would cost you between $150 to $250 maybe even close to $300 here in Canada . One 2L carton of 2% milk is $5.48 Ea 12 eggs $4.58 30 Pkg of eggs $17,12 EA Depending on the type white Bread $3.25 Ea a Large Veg Platter is $24 bucks and a 4.54 Kg bag of Potatoes is $5.99. Lets just say its expensive and yes we make more in wages but the cost of inflation is outpacing the money we make so people have to make tough choices at the grocery store now so we can pay for our mortgage and utilities. Not mention the price of petrol is $1.60 for a litre of gas

Also, thank you for helping this lady who needs your help. You both have absolutely wonderful hearts. Thank you so much! I do want to say to those who have a problem with Russia. Remember, when you point your ugly finger at another then there are three always pointing back at you! The Russian people are filled with love & compassion. There are many, many, many, wonderful & beautiful Russian people. Oh my goodness what such an absolute delight this older lady is!
