I don't know why this is so, but I thank the sanctions for the large influx of foreign products. Also Russia is actively opening factories to produce goods, before it was cheaper to buy from abroad, but now it is cheaper to open a factory in Russia. Thanks to sanctions for improving the domestic economy. First thoughts: This new supermarket looks very impressive. As I regularly shop here in England at Aldi and Lidl, I reckon this Da store has a larger selection of goods, especially in the cold meats and sausage section. I love food, and the sight of all those packages fills me with joy, even though I don't know any Russian. I could spend hours in there just reading package labels. Do most items' labels have English in smaller print on the back? Even if not, I can translate foreign text immediately with Google Translate, using the smartphone camera, so it's probably not an issue to understand what a food item is.

I don't shop in Aldi in the UK, but I hear one of them has gone bust, cannot remember which one, either Aldi or Liddle. They trade under separate business names. They are very unpleasant in the UK. You really don't want to visit them especially if you are in London. Prices only slightly lower and what's going on inside generally fairly unpleasant. But looking at prices in this store in Russia everything is very very cheap. 10 eggs for less than a dollar, this is unattainable in London even in Aldi. My usual pack of 6 eggs costs £3.50 in M&S. That's nearly 10 times more expensive. Maybe you can get them in Aldi for £2.50. Still much more expensive than in Russia.

Coca-Cola is still legally in Russia even though they “left”. Might be a similar situation with Cinnabon 😅.

I shop at Aldi in the US every week. This is similar in concept, but the lighting in Da! Is much brighter. I had never thought about the reasoning behind the shelf-ready packaging, but it makes perfect sense. Do the customers at Da! need to bring their own bags and pack the groceries themselves? I didn't notice a long packing table like the one at Aldi. I personally enjoy packing my own items. Does Russia have any self-checkout lanes? (I hate them.) I'm glad to see that the cashiers can sit down. In my last two customer service jobs, I had to stand the whole time, and it wrecked my knees. Aldi cashiers are so fast because the bar codes on store-brand items are all over the package, so they don't have to look for the one place to scan. I wonder if Da! does something similar.

I am getting so jealous, 😂 in Australia we have a lot less shopping centres, we have 2 major grocery stores, coles and woolworths, and Aldi, we were supposed to get Lidle as well, but now we are not, I guess Coles and Woolworths stopped them, I imagine they did not like Aldi coming in Australia either, 😂 but thank God we at least got Aldi, ..wake up Australia, we need more competition, look at Russia!
