What does $20 get you in Medellin, Colombia in 2021? In this video I will be taking you all around the city to show you just how far we can stretch 20 USD in the beautiful city of Medellin, Colombia. We will start this journey off in the El Centro area of Medellin before eventually making our way over to the El Poblado area, which is the most popular among foreigners who visit Medellin! Throughout this $20 challenge we will get our hands on some incredible Colombian street food, some micheladas, and even tip some local street performers!

Thanks for inviting that young man to sit down for a meal, when we visit relatives in Colombia, we do the same thing. There are so many people going over into Colombia from Venezuela for a better life, and something as simple as buying them a meal really helps them out. There was a period of time where it was the other way around, where struggling Colombians left for a better life in Venezuela. This was never forgotten and Colombians are more than happy to repay the favor.

Nice video dude...the boys performing at the street light are also from Venezuela....gives you an idea of what life is like in Venezuela... Medellín is pretty safe, been there 8 times since 2015....but haven't been there since the Venezuelan migration which unfortunately have made the city somewhat unsafe...sadly they are struggling to survive anywhere they go...but I Medellín and its people are amazing...love it....

@@Travelwithchris in the travel videos, always a good idea to establish where you are, as in “ we're off of Carrera 54 a mile south of Botero Plaza, at the Plaza Cisneros, also known as Plaza De Las Luces…these giant Spires were built in..etc.etc” You have to plan it in advance, create some script, because then you want the camera angles to match the script…and then narrate casually and naturally. Thats the trick! (The food in Colombia is interesting for about 3 sec.s I think…and everybodys seen it Over and over.. IMHO..) Best of Luck Chris!

Nice of you to buy the young man a meal, my trip in Mexico I bought a few meals and helped the elderly. It doe's not hurt your wallet to help when someone is in need. I enjoyed the so called bad side of town, but then Los Angeles has just as dangerous and deadly areas. The art is amazing and the buildings beautiful and the people seem nice. I would be on edge and guard in the city, but that is life and travel in these areas of the world. Sad it costs $10 dollars for a woman in the red light district, this is very sad straight up man. the food looks great and all the carts and what you have eaten looked so good. Nice video and educational about the real life struggle of the Columbian and Venezuela people who live their. Blessings to the people🙏🏽

I visited Bogota and Medellin in October 2019 but spent more time in Medellin, as much as i really love the city, the weather and its people. I left Medellin with heavy heart after witnessing the poverty. I witnessed 16 year olds girls engaging in prostitution at parque Lleras. I know it's easy said than done but I wish there's a sustainable sulotion to this problem. I've sponsonred several Venezuelan families at the start of the pandemic for a few months but i also lost my job at some point because of the restrictions. Thanks for sharing your blessing. I hope more poeple will do the same.

I wont dress like a tourist, I dont look like a tourist, but I am very intimidating, I even have trouble here in states. even yesterday I took my wife out to eat, place that never been to before, I watched waitresses wait on every table, & avoid us, 100% I had to get refill my drinks myself, had to go to counter to get a to-go box for what wife didnt finish, & besides the interaction and paying when we ordered food, & 1 waitress bringing food, not 1 asked if needed anything, only places I visit regularily, people avoid me. so it does make me safer & not a target, people look at me & know I am not a target. they attack, they become the victim! my hair is near my belt, & my beard is 18" long. dark complexion from working out in sun majority of the time.

Great to see you buy a meal for that kid. I do exactly the same thing in the Philippines... I never give money to any of the street kids because you don't know where the money goes to which more than likely gets handed over to someone in charge of them.... or the kids use that money to buy drugs in order for them to not get hungry... it's alot better to give them food than money. Whenever I go out to eat, I always tell the waiter to pack up my leftovers (I always order too much food, haha)... so I can give it to the street kids selling flowers or begging for money at the stop lights. You said that the kid wanted to go back to Venezuela because life is hard in Colombia? I think life in Venezuela would be even harder especially for a kid his age. There's little to no work available in Venezuela which is the main reason why alot of people from Venezuela go to Colombia for an opportunity to find work and send money back to Venezuela for their families. I noticed ALL of the girls selling coffee in Colombia are from Venezuela.

@@woofolliesmydog8628 bruh I was about to say that 😂. I mean her leftovers is still better than nothing but damn if you gonna help them buy them a full meal not something you feel full to finish. Especially not to happily brag on here Fs.
