Savy Expat? Very interesting Air B and B. Cebu, is number (1) for my retirement destination. I am happy 😊 to see 👀 this. My plan is still end of 2025 earliest to May 2026 latest to return and retire in the Philippines 🇵🇭, GOD SPEED.

I stayed in a good hotel for $35/night. It came with free breakfast, daily housekeeping, and it was 1 block from Ayala mall.

You can get something like this in Thailand for only $300 a month. Save about $600.

No long term Visa options for a young person. I would love to live in thailand or vietnam but philippines makes it much easier.

@@wanderingdoc5075I love Thailand 🇹🇭 but no long term visas. Philippines is better options for people who want to retire long term. English speaking is also big bonus.

It depends what one’s own choices are and how much they are willing to spend or can afford. Thanks for sharing 👌🏾👍🏾👏🏾

At my age I’m concerned more with the quality and details vs amount. Personally I set my standard at five star establishments. My days of living like a struggling college kid are over

One thing I forget to ask is what are the plugs? Do you need a converter or adapter coming from the U.S.?

Mabuhay and welcome to Cebu - The Queen City of the South. Solinea is a GREAT place to live or visit. A short walk to Ayala Mall in Central Business District - The best Mall in Cebu with shops and indoor/outdoor spaces. You can get a studio in Solinea for around PhP 25-30K/mo or PHP 7500-8000 per week which should be less than $30/day. Let me know if you are there in Jan. I should be back then. Have fun

I really enjoy seeing these examples. I have been debating on transitioning to the Philippines in 2026, but I have my reservations. I've been hoboing around the world before. Either via the military or by a private contract assignment, and I really enjoyed living in BGC in 2021 to 2022. These were unusual times as I was on assignment, and when I wasn't working, I found it hard meeting people and making good connections. I am planning to go back and explore again, but I am more likely to settle down where I am treated best in order to marry and raise a family. Sounds corny, but my priorities are my own. I have been to Cebu, Caticlan, and Boracry also, but if anyone has recommendations, I am open. I am more about creature comforts and conveyance but did not like the very westernized BGC area mindset. I've been told to find a good province girl and bring her to Makati, but I'm not sure about that either. I'd probably eat out every night as I am passionate about food. A nice foodie scene would be appealing.
