What does a bad starter relay sound like?

Weell , the '82 Ford F100 doesn't sound like this ! More so a mechanical 'chattering' sound, recently gave it a few moments after spending hours working (cleaning/replacing) on other related items that could have been contributing :-) When first try in hopes I had eliminated any 'bugs, it had chattered same with no start result. And when I tried again moments later, no chattering a-tall which is allegedly the prime indicator of the 'passing away' of the (3 terminal) 'starter relay' . So went looking for a decently priced replacement at a couple of the local retailers .... got one similar config' but which is the new style of 4 terminal ! Hope it does the 'trick' ;-) Hasta luego, somewheres .....

my Yamaha bruin 350 has power, lights come on but when you press the start button there nothing, no click an ultimately no turn over. This would mean it needs a new solenoid. This is the same for most quads

My VStar does the same thing but the fuel pump doesn't engage either. Might be my kickstand cut off switch

I get a cluck when I turn the key and that's it..no start..just one cluck, but not "clicking." Is one click a different issue than clicking?

@@vikings514 my issue was my actual key for the car was damaged. The chip inside of my key was damaged and my car didn't recognize the key so it wouldn't start

@@vikings514 before the key I checked the STARTER, the ALTERNATOR, the BATTERY, the BATTERY CABLES ALL RELAYS AND FUSES. After we eliminated all of the above we just got the key checked. By the way the key still works for everything else unlocking the car and we could put the car in the on position and everything still worked in the car AC, radio and lights we just couldn't turn the car over at all we just had one little click.

My toyota corolla altis 2003 model has a problem when i pressed the accelerator. Everytime i press the pedal there's a noise come from the relay under the drivers wheel. I thought that the relay is the problem but when i replace into new one the problem is still there.

Same here, I got a hotshot and it started right up , then took it to Autozone for testing and it was the battery dying

@@swjohnny8020 Yea. Where I live is very humid and wet -North England. It's been pissing down. I think moisture is on the electrics. This is common in England. So I sprayed the electrics with WD40 and the starter did try and engage but just no power. Hoping it's just the battery. But everything spazzing out, central locking, lights. Plus it's been sat for 10 days in the wet and cold as I'm isolating.

@@johnmellor932 here what I am doing, After I got the battery fully charged and my Jeep started with no problem, I remove only the negative battery cable over night the next morning I put the cable back on and if it starts with no problem then it’s something draining the battery but if it won’t start like before it’s the battery and time for a new one

@@johnmellor932 Monday I’ll buy a battery and hopefully that will take care of the problem but with my luck it will be the Starter , and I’ve already priced the cost of replacing it and it cost around $315 for it to be replaced

When I start the car the starter jst goes a bit like grgrgr grgr gr dnt knw if it's a low battery or starter

@@jameslephalo6553 Even as a novice driveway mechanic, my first easy test is after pulling out the multimeter' and chking the voltage on the batt', cleaning the posts & clamps, and also accessible ring' terminals ! Ultimately hope its' not the Starter on my '82 ..... !
