Very nice clear and concise. The only two little things that I believe might make this video even better is 1. To have a better microphone sound (thus one has a little bit of that room echo); 2. To make the intro a little shorter. Other than that, very clear, specific, useful. Thanx.

Hey Elif! I actually prefer this form of video over screen sharing.

I agree. Me too! Slides only take away attention from the speaker... unless it's just the use of simple images or footage that helps visually communicate the message rather than going in detail too much.

May I suggest writing a script and planning out the video before you make it. Also you can make edits and cut out parts. Also, looking at the camera for 10min is boring for viewers so make cuts with different angles or backgrounds or something stimulating to keep peoples attention. You could even have shown a page with a bulleted list of all the job requirements - that would have been helpful. Lastly, the sound quality was not good in this video. I'd suggest getting a mic that is separate from the camera.

Hi Elif, this is too specific of a question but I'm hoping to get some advice. I did my marketing program 3 years back and have worked in the service industry since then. I'm trying to take a specialized course (a bit confused about which one but hoping to find my way soon) to get me started and was looking at Brainstation, UofT or something like George Brown College. I remember you mentioned that you're from Toronto (maybe?), so I'd love your input. Thanks :)

I teach at GBC and the postgraduate programs are great so I can speak for that. But I haven't reviewed all options to compare them so my knowledge in that sense is limited.

how about it's also very difficult to steer clients to the correct topics that you know are part of the decision-making funnel, and that you know the brand can rank for, instead of "puff pieces" where they just talk about themselves (and end up getting 0 traffic to )... 😆
4 жыл бұрын
🤦🏻♀️ ahhh i know about this too well. Most brands - especially b2b looves talking about their product and bragging about their brand. Some people i look up to in marketing have been steering away from those companies and ceo’s who just dont get it because they’re sick of wasting time. I think I’m also heading towards that direction.
@brookefrederick4214 жыл бұрын
@ I agree. When the clients won't stop dictating the topics for us to develop, they are essentially directing the strategy and the premium that they have to pay for an experienced strategist is not worth it; they are better off paying a cheap writer to develop the content they want developed to satisfy themselves. In the end, parting ways is best for both parties, I think! Just wait for the traffic and conversions reports to be requested on the new pieces they've mandated... lol 😆 crickets

Hi! thanks for the video, i always find your content very helpful and informative to amplify my view about what marketing really is. I’m still a grade student, but I really want to get a job on a marketing agency, but I’m really tired of knocking doors, and always have the same answer: you don’t have any experience. Do you have any advice to help me increase my odds to get a job in the marketing world? Because honestly, I’m starting to loose hope. Again, thanks for your content. Cheers! 😊

Great video, Elif! Content marketing can be a very involved role, but certainly a good one! As far as feedback on format, thought what you had was fine. I've experimented with screen shares a bit where I have PiP with my face on the bottom corner, as well as "full-screen" share where I mix in moments of me talking without the screen. I think the screenshare w/ PiP works well if you're demonstrating something in real-time (like navigating a site), otherwise, I think what you did works perfectly fine, or do a mix of slide interchanged with talking head, so that there "appears" to be more action/movement/activity. Found engagement to be good. Not to plug my stuff, but did a recent video like it and happened to like the format if you wanted an idea of it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXrHiYGNbZiIkKc

It was Great to know more about content marketer 💯 As I am going to pursue Post graduation Diploma in digital marketing from George brown College from sept 2021 intake. I want to know: 1). Which type of JOB POSITION opportunities we get / eligible for - after doing the 2 year post graduation diploma in digital marketing from George brown College? (For e.g. - associate marketer, digital marketing executive, marketing manager) Which job position ? 2). which digital marketing / marketing JOB POSITION comes under NOC - A,O,B ? Thank you 🙏 I am admiring this series of videos - would love to see more of these All the best !!!😊

1) the title will likely depend on your previous experience. I've had some students who already had, say, 3 yeards of experience working as a specialist and were doing the degree. They would most likely aim for executive/manager roles. However even as I'm writing this, I don't like to categorize the job titles because it can be very misleading. I see some people starting as Marketing Manager as their first job fresh out of college while some people have 10 years of experience and then get the manager title. It depends on MANY factors. 2) If I remember correctly it should be A (but you'd have to double check) Thanks for the support!

Definitely great ideas! I’m taking note of this. Thanks Johan!
@brookefrederick4214 жыл бұрын
Hej Johan, I think it very much depends on the specific client's industry, the customer's buying cycle and the client's goals. That being said - just as an anecdote - I have a criminal lawyer that I've built and executed a content strategy for from the ground up whose organic blog post views brought in 45K visitors this year so far and over 125 conversions (form fills), which is pretty incredible and pretty clearly linked to an ROI. Further, we also use CallRail to track calls and a very very large percentage of the law office's calls are directly from blog posts. :) I mention this because in this industry, it's very clear and very effecitve, but in others, obviously it is not the case. Either way - you are right, it is a great topic for discussion - Elif I'd love to see this video too to hear your take. Could you include screenshots and examples? Looking forward to it!

AI and robots will replace all manual jobs. A content marketing manager has a high demand but without a shiny future.
@brookefrederick4214 жыл бұрын
I think we've still got a few years to go before we have to worry about any threat to our positions! ;) Plus - personally, as a Content Manager, I have a very broad skill set ie: sourcing/managing social, copywriting, marketing strategy, communications, etc -- that will continue to require the human touch for years to come so we can always pivot! :)
4 жыл бұрын
I agree with Brooke here - I don't think marketers are going anywhere any time soon. Things might change, yes. Creativity is going to be the skill that shines through and differentiates people from bots.
