Really sensible point about smoke alarms. Regardless of battery installation get a decent alarm system. It's your life and biggest asset. Love the install and clear explanations. Looking to invest in a system next year.

Thanks, we really believe it is a no brainer but it’s hard sometimes to get that across. It’s one of those things that you don’t need until you need it! Drop us a message when you are looking and we can get you a quote together. We cover nationwide 👍

Nice to see you using red and white string cables, these were the colours we used in the old days for DC.

Yes indeed!

@OvalRenewables it would be great to see you do a short video showing that the red cable must have it's positive MC4s pointing towards the inverter and the negative plugs pointing towards the panels. So many installers are getting this wrong since this boom we are having. HNY

6:17 apologies if you've been asked before but what components do you use to make up your DC surge protection devices please ?
@OvalRenewables2 күн бұрын
The surge protection devices are 600v DC SPD’s from surge protection devices. We use some three port Wago top job connectors and an 8 module Gewiss enclosure 👍

I think the generation meter comes down to interpretation of the guidance. I’m in agreement with the efix video that the requirements of needing to see generation data is met by the apps that these systems connect to. The readings are seldom needed for export payments these days as the vast majority of these customers have smart meters.

I agree with that. It’s more about what the MCS certificate needs. It still required generation meter details

Fair enough - I wasn’t aware of that 👍

Pretty certain the Libbi has surge protection built in on both Dc and Ac side
@OvalRenewables2 күн бұрын
There is D.C. surge on the D.C. side apparently. We have since removed the D.C. surge on future Libbi jobs. At the time we were sceptical that it was actually inside

Had Octopus install a Zappi. Myenergi can’t get their app to work, nor can Octopus complete a test charge. All I have is a charger that cannot work intelligently…..marginally better than a 13amp plug! I agree that the Myenergi products look good but I wouldn’t touch one of their products again, nor would I buy anything from Octopus other than electricity!

That’s really sad to hear! Drop me an email to sam@ovalrenewables.com and we will see if we can help! I would be extremely surprised if it’s an issue with the myenergi kit as I’ve never had an issue with the app.
