@imatoastydino yea. Turns out I wasn't aware of the schools gpa requirements for graduates students vs. For the program. I need to go back to school to take any classes at all to boost my GPA. Because of that I don't qualify for any of the 3 schools in my state. I work FT and pay bills, so non of that might ever happen

I was hoping someone can help me out by answering my question. I am finishing up my bachelors degree at a cal state in biology & a minor in microbiology , I initially started as a pre-med but most recently decided that was not the career for me. Since then I’ve been interested in becoming an MLS. Will I have to enroll in a whole new program to achieve that goal or is it possible to apply for a post-bacc program to complete any of the remaining pre reqs I may need? Or will I be qualified to take a board examination since I took a lot of medical related courses as an undergrad? Thank you to anyone who answers in advance!

Nah man just take the ascp test and get certification

You will have to take a NAACLS-certified medical technology program, either a 2 year MLT or a bachelors or graduate degree MLS program, to work as a medical laboratory technician or scientist. You must also be certified by the ASCP, AMT, or similar to get a job in most areas in the US. If you go the 2 year MLT route, you will have to work as an MLT for a few years before you can attempt certification in the higher level MLS.

Is it difficult to wear glasses while using the microscope?
@thephoenix23043 жыл бұрын
It's not really an issue. The microscope is way more powerful than your eyes, so you don't even have to wear glasses while viewing under a microscope. Having said that, I wear bifocals and it's not a problem; most microscopes have eye cups that fold down to accommodate glasses wearers

No, if you’re careful you can view it about a foot away, you’re not going to get a very big field of view though. Or you can just led a computer view the slide and then you look at it via a screen.

Can the medical lab sceince student study master in pathology for read biopsy and blood film under microscope ... and which is responsible for read blood film it is hematologist or pathologists, ??
@thephoenix23043 жыл бұрын
In the US, a medical lab scientist can read blood film or smears under a microscope; however, if there are any abnormalities, a pathologist, who is a medical doctor trained in human pathology, will review for diagnosis.

Hello :) is medical laboratory science the same with medical technology?
@Nathaniel_Peterson3 жыл бұрын
Medical Laboratory Science refers to the 4-year education of Medical Laboratory Scientists. Medical Laboratory Technology refers to the 2-year education of Medical Laboratory Technicians.

@rmtmarga3 жыл бұрын
For us yes the same
@themicroman2 жыл бұрын
I guess it depends on where you are located at but for me they are the same thing. I got a BSc in Medical Technology (4 year degree) and now I am aMedical Laboratory Scientist, MLS (ASCP). Medical technology is generally an older term that older 'techs' use in the lab but there is a conscious renaming of the profession to MLS (hence the ASCP designation). The most important thing is to see if your degree is NAACLS accredited for the MLS ASCP certification, if so then you're good to go.

Medical lab technicians collect the samples from patients while medical lab technologists tests those samples and diagnose the problems
@miggysenpai13 Жыл бұрын
In some countries, medical lab technicians are those who did not meet the satisfactory requirements to become scientists in the licensure exams.
@IndianLaboratoriesForum.4 ай бұрын
The terminology differs from different laboratories. In some labs medical technicians are kind of assistance to laboratory scientists. In some laboratories are destination will be given as technician instead of scientists. It is dependent on the organisation.

Hello :) is medical laboratory science the same with medical technology?
@bookkeeper80924 жыл бұрын
An MLS is actually more “highly educated” than a MLT. MLTs typically just complete a 2 year program but MLS typically complete a bachelors and then attend an accredited post-baccalaureate program. So they’re similar but MLT is “below” the other and could be considered a stepping stone to the other. Both are super important though!
@tropturd64584 жыл бұрын
@@bookkeeper8092 I beg to disagree. Each country has its own term when referring to that particular profession. Medical Technologists in the Philippines are equivalent to Medical Laboratory Scientists in the US.

@@tropturd6458 Medical Technologists and Medical Laboratory Scientists are the same in the US as well. Though the MT designation is being phased out in favor of MLS.
@thephoenix23043 жыл бұрын
In the US, it's the same (also clinical laboratory scientist), but not to be confused with medical laboratory "technician" (MLT) which requires a two-year degree.
