In this video I share with you guys some details about being a clinical laboratory technologist/scientist. I discuss the difference between a technologist vs technician, what my lab tests for, and the salary expectations for someone entering into this career. Let me know down in the comments if this video was helpful or if you have any more questions!
After hours of working on it, I've finally figured out how to keep the original color of my videos! My other videos were so dull once they were uploaded to YT but I've finally figured it out moving forward so I hope you all enjoy!

Most reference labs don’t require any type of ASCP AMT AAB certification and this is true for most states. Most of the times you are at the mercy of that particular lab for career opportunities. Being fully certified gives you endless opportunities and pay negotiations. Traveling technologist and technicians that are certified are making decent pay (90k-100k) yearly. Most hospital jobs are going to pay you 55-60k base rate and OT all the time and critical pay and incentives when help is needed. If you guys can get certified look into it

Thanks for sharing! ☺️ I like to specifically share about my experiences and journey of how I got into the role. Hi! So there wasn’t necessarily a training period. No matter what lab you work at they are going to have their own procedures and techniques they use. Even if you have years of lab experience, you’ll have to be trained. @@glitzyglow4322I’d recommend shadowing for the two. For example, you can apply to be a volunteer at a hospital. There, you will be able to see the day to day work that a nurse does. I’m not sure whether you’re in high school or college, but talking with advisors/counselors about how to reach these groups should lead you to them. Don’t be afraid to ask! It’s the only way you’ll find out your route. You’ll find out what you want to pursue and that’s what matters. Your first hand account and what people in these fields inform you counts. Someone may think nursing is awful, while others find it rewarding. It’s really up to you to experience and find what you think you’ll love. Hope this helps!
