At around 9:00 there is some talk about if there are sports books that are more accurate than others at predicting lines. This is absolutely true. Some betting strategies are actually based off of this. People will basically see what the starting line is at a sportbook that they believe to be consistently accurate and bet the deviation that they see from other books. It is pretty interesting stuff!

Great content.. for those who are interested in this field I would suggest reading pinnacle's blog (there is a shit ton of info there). I would particularly recommend this: www.pinnacle.com/en/betting-articles/educational/r-betting-innovation/A642DKMEXWMMKU6B which talks about how they use R/Rstudio in their sportsbook business. I particularly got myself into data science because of sports betting.. Its actually a very good field to practice. There are tons and tons of sports, leagues, markets, and data available.. And you can also get very fast feedback for your model because you can test it against the market. Its very nice to see it being applied in soccer as well, we see teams today like Liverpool, Brentford, Athletico... who are embracing this data driven culture and getting amazing results in return. But I dont see DS and sports betting being talked about as much as it should, probably beause of the stigma surrounding it. Thanks for this video!
