Also London: Savile Row - iconic location of the Beatles rooftop concert in 1969; theres now a plaque commemorating it Soho - (Referenced in Kinks' 'Lola') if you get to the backstreets, around Berwick Street there are a host of more independent shops. As well as couple record shops like Sister Ray & Reckless Records Along the Southbank is a nice walk; crossing the Westminster Bridge from Parliament and then walking past the London Eye towards the National Theatre and Waterloo is a nice walk. Also areas such as Green Park and near Piccadilly; and the iconic Hyde Park close by as well. If you time it right you could go to Westminster and see Extinction Rebellion protesting too Another place that is quite bit away from the centre is Barnes. It is home to the Olympic Studios (which is now a luxury cinema) and across the road is a record shop specialising in Olympic recordings. It's also the place where Marc Bolan died in 1977.

As part of the show they got the original 4 (?) pianos used for the jarring final chord of “Day in the life” and picked four lucky punters to crash that chord together and to hear it ring out in the very place it was recorded and on the exact same instruments was a special thing indeed to hear. No.3 Saville Row in London where the Beatles Apple headquarters used to be is now a store called Abercrombie & Fitch. As you walk through the entrance, there’s a small memorial to the Beatles which details when they purchased the building. Although it’s a clothes store, you can pick up the vibe of the place knowing that the Beatles were once here. One thing though, when I asked the female shop assistant whether I could go up on to the roof, she said an emphatic “no”! I think it’s due to health and safety concerns.

Yes I took look. It seems to me the BBC and locals are wrong. The crossing has NOT moved despite many claims online and elsewhere. There are a couple of pointers. On the right side as you leave the crossing, there is a drain and lamp-post. Both are still there. Also on the left (in 1969 out-takes) there are 2 manhole covers. They are still there. Also the distance between crossing and entrance to studio is unchanged. I have been inside. They opened it once in the 20 years I have lived here. It is about 3 times the size of the house seen from the street. It's all down below and out the back.
@user-ky6vw5up9m4 жыл бұрын
I agree. The crossing today is in its 1969 location. In the uncropped version of the 1969 photo, there is a small metal “water valve cover” on the third white stripe from the right. That same valve cover is in the same view of the crossing today.

Zebra crossing here in England is Pedestrian crossing . I got run over on one in 1993 in my hometown portsmouth hit n run. The cars have to stop. Their are no traffic lights. Just beacon lights. But obviously you have to wait till the good car drivers stop. Which I did but another car decided not to.
