🐺🐗🐆 Just to clarify something. A turn of phrase we in the UK use is “that belongs in a zoo” or “that’s a zoo creature”. We obviously don’t mean that literally. It basically means a wild animal that could be exotic, unusual or dangerous, of the type we simply don’t get in the UK, and the only place we would ever be able to see them is in a zoo. Even if we are opposed to zoos as I am, I’ll still use that phrase which basically means, wow that’s a scary/cool/unusual animal.

I'm SO glad you chose to clarify that statement, because I was formulating a lengthy rebuttal which, thankfully, I now have no reason to type. Grew up in "the woods" in Rhode Island. The forest was relatively calm and safe in the 60's and 70's, when I was a child. In my life I've had the great pleasure of watching otters, mink, weasels, skunks, and various ground rodents, also have since had the honor of seeing the return of wild turkey, beavers, bears, and the coyote/dog hybrid which now fills the niche of the wolf/coyote. But you guys gave us Dr. Who for 50 plus freakin' years! Thanks! (Fell in love with Tom Baker when I was just a child.)

Shaun we in Oregon dont use your zoo phrase! Was watching your Portland shirt video, listening to u talk about cougars! I grew up west of Portland ore living now in eug or!,a few hot summers ago, a housing development displaced Cougars and wild turkeys! Walking down the street I came face to face with a female cougar! Never ever run from one!'they are cats! If u run they will chase u down play with u like prey and maybe kill u! When they want food they also imitate a human baby cry! So ud better know the differences in crimes between cougar and humans!-?my daughter faced that situation! And luckily didnt go to investigate! As a landscape photographer based in the PNW, I've had black bear encounters and survived them all right, despite one that was a little touch-and-go. I've only ever seen Grizzlies from a vehicle (thankfully, they give me nightmares) and have only glimpsed a mountain lion (possibly). But I have to think about such things (and snakes) all the time while I'm out and since I've been following more Scottish photographers on IG I've wondered what it would be like to explore mountains like you have there and never have to worry about getting "et by a bear." Oh, and we have wolves now where I live in Oregon. I've even seen one, not 45 minutes from my house. I've been obsessed with wolves since a child. So that was one of the highlights of my life when that wolf stepped out onto the logging road I was walking, took a good look, then vanished back into the forest.

When my older sister went to college she eventually spent a year at Sussex. I was fourteen at the time and at the end of her year we all flew up to see her. After 2 weeks my parents left me with her to go up to do another month of just she and I wandering England and Scotland. She and I had so much fun but the point of the story is the day we went to Loch Lomond I refused to stay on the trail. I dragged my sister all over the beautiful Woodland area surrounding the lake until we were completely lost lol. After two hours we decided to just head in One Direction. It was the wrong direction and wound up at a fence. After arguing about who gets to find out if the fence is electrified or not (i lost lol. Even after reminding her that she was 20 and she's had more years than I did therefore my life was worth more) we couldn't tell where a road was and we could not get our bearings to get back to the lake so I was sent up the hill to see which direction we needed to go. About five minutes later after walking up and over the hill my sister said she heard me screaming and she saw my head pop up from the other side of the Hill. I was running. I was being chased by a bull LMAO. It's really hard to run while you're laughing at the same time. But I live. I swear, no one thinks it really is (truly)... There seems to be a lot of people that think people think it is though, which is more annoying. Mexican, Italian, Chinese, etc... are general categories in the US which includes authentic and Americanized versions of cuisine... from Authentic, which is rare and usually marketed as such, all the way down to fast food varieties... No one says Taco bell is authentic Mexican or even Authentic TexMex... No one thinks the average Pizza in America is Authentic Italian pizza, nor do people think American Chinese food is authentic Chinese cuisine... People just shorten it to refer to the most common general term of use in their area. When people in the US say they are in the mood for Mexican they are often referring to TexMex and they know that. When people say they want TacoBell they say Taco bell mostly, because a lot of people barely qualify that as TexMex even... The only people that seem not to know that is the PC police and outrage mob, but they usually know too and instead choose to act as if no one knows so they can bloviate about their superior knowledge of culture... Instead they end up displaying a complete lack of knowledge about American culture...

United States technology got a leg up from Scottish and English and Welch inventors who shared their inventions in the interest of winning two world wars. Until that time the UK and US were effectively parallel in technological development. On the issue of optimism, I blame the UK for sending only optimistic people to colonize the continent. Face it, Shaun, no pessimist would have gotten on a small wooden ship crammed with ten times as many people as it was designed to carry and sailed across the vast Atlantic to a land without any of the comforts of civilization. I guess we took all the optimism from the UK. Well not all. The Blitz of 1940 proved that the UK still retained sufficient optimism to defeat that evil ideology on the continent. I've been to Edinburgh and ascended Dun Edin to tour the castle. Now it's your turn to visit Franklin, NC and tour the Scottish Tartans Museum and other sites.

Vast majority of the technologies that were invented in the US after ww2 have nothing to do with the UK We have developed them largely on our own without any official governmental tech transfer from other countries Currently UK is simply nomatch to us at technological innovation In the top 10 biggest technology companies of the world, USA has 6 while uk has zero.

American here 🖐 🇱🇷....Thanks for the friendly and outgoing comment. Hollywood and people like the Kardashisn's give us regular people a bad rap. I love Absolutely Fabulous, Father Brown, Graham Norton, Peaky Blinders, Ripper Street and lots more.

As a Scot I find myself conflicted with a lot of these things. Star Trek heavily influenced my political beliefs in a positive way, but Breaking Bad as much as I LOVE that show made me thankful that I DON'T live in the USA. Crazy.

I live in one of the more dangerous cities in the United States (Houston, Texas), and I’ve never been a victim of crime in 50 years. Knock on wood lol. It really is bad in some places, but as long as you’re not a gang banger or live in a really bad neighborhood or do a dangerous job like police or night clerk at a convenience store, you’re okay.

You’ve got to remember that TV shows are DRAMA.... that’s no where near the reality of Day to Day life. Most of The USA is pleasant and polite and perfectly safe. I’m sure Scotland has some janky neighborhoods and places you just don’t go after sunset. Same in the USA.

ASMR Muzz don't judge the country that I live in by a TV show. It's not close to being accurate.

Well Star Trek isn't really set in the USA... but its vision of a future born out of positive liberal ideals inspires us Americans also, to carry on the fight against conservatism/hate/bigotry.

@@dougs7367 Wow!!! You really just said that Star Trek is a "vision of a future born out of positive liberal ideals that inspire us as Americans also, to carry on the fight against conservatism/hate/ bigotry"? Really? A show where I'm pretty sure everybody that created, produced and directed Star Trek was probably on acid or shrooms and smoking pot. All I can say as a Republican is that Capt Kirk was never afraid to use a phaser or a torpedo to kill any enemy he wanted. Sounds kinda pro gun to me. He wasn't afraid to kill different races of alien life either. Sounds kinda racist and liberal to me!!! And he wasn't afraid to sleep with aliens and use women in bed even though it is only with innuendo because you know because of television rules they couldn't actually show that back then but it was implied. Sounds kinda like sexism and dehumanizing towards women. It was everything you fight against today. But you liberals keep up your hypocrisy fight!!! You dont even know what you are saying!!! But I guess I'm just not woke enough to understand liberalism. Or something as woke as Star Trek!!! Lmao!!!😂🤣😂🤣😆😆😆 Stop it!!You are killing me with hilarity!!! By the way, no hate towards you. That is not what conservatism is about!!! But seriously... if you think that show was good liberal values then you really need to reexamine the liberal values. They are not really what you have been taught. Just saying... For instance the liberals in the past were the ones that had slaves. Liberals were the ones that fought against equal rights for women and tried to prevent them the right to vote. The Dread Scott Case of 1853. All the judges of the Supreme Court said that black people were less than human and didn't deserve the basic human rights like a white man. All the Supreme Court judges were Democrat liberals. Even Hiters nazi party was call the Nationalist SOCIALIST DEMOCRAT PARTY. Yes it is true. Hitler was actually a Left wing Democrat!!! Not the right wing conservative party you were taught in a liberal school! How is that for WOKE? Even today all the liberal schools teach you is how to identify some one by race and class and not treat them as individuals. I really dont think a black person needs a white person to do their talking for them. You treat them like they need your help. News flash for you... They dont want it or need it!!! Same with any race. But liberals stick their noses in where it doesn't belong. This is what WOKE really is!!!! Sorry this is so long. But Star Trek? Really?
