Shaun, You are correct in saying New Yorkers are friendly. Especially after hours or on the weekend and in nice weather. During the week they run on tight schedules. They need to keep up with the trains and making all the connections as quickly as possible. New Yorkers themselves like to promote how tough they are but it's kind of a joke. When you live everyday with as many people as there are in New York you get pretty used to dealing with people. We're back from Scotland but we've been sick for over a week. We had a great time. We did all the things you said to do in Edinburgh like spit on the cross in the sidewalk and rub Bobby's nose. Every one was nice no matter where we went in Scotland.

Glad that you had a good time in my hometown. The "Juniors" on Flatbush Avenue is the original "Juniors". By the way, geography is an a lost science for many,so it might be good to point out that the city is located on a series of islands. The complicated transit system is a result of the need to unite these islands. The ferry use declined once they built all the bridges. In recent times, the bridge congestion has revived interest in using ferries but the economics might also end that trend.
@robertewalt77895 жыл бұрын
There were originally two private subway systems, IRT and BMT. Then the city built a third, the IND. no, or few interconnects. Now they are all together. But that what helps explain the crazy system.

Your vlogs keep getting better and better! I am so impressed with your skills, it's almost like we (your audience) are right there with you in your travels. As others have said, you have to visit the West Coast as well, all over California, the Pacific Northwest, maybe an adventure across the borders of Mexico in the South, and Canada in the North. I'm a California Native and very proud of our coast. We have some of the best beaches in the USA! If you know The Beach Boys music, listen to the words of "California Girls." I know it's dated, but hey, so much fun living it!

As someone who grew up in NY, I had to learn from adults that you keep quiet and don’t talk to strangers on subways or on the street. Maybe this is why people think of us as cold, or whatever. It seems crazy to stay silent, until you learn that the ones who violate this unspoken rule are often pan-handlers, con artists, drunks, or insane people. They’re the main ones talking loudly in public places. So we stay quiet to show we’re not insane.

That was the Meryll Lynch Bull near Wall Street there. A Finance Company that went bankrupt in the 2008 economic crash. But the Bull is a symbol for stock markets that means a market that keeps increasing in value. And then on the contrary, a Bear is the symbol for a declining market.

Glad you had a great positive experience of the City! Philippe did you good! 😀 Being an old Bronx boy myself, New Yorkers disklike tourists. They complain tourists walk too slow, take too many selfies - in fact the former NYC mayor Bloomberg banned selfie sticks in the city. NYorkers don’t like to be bothered giving directions (most of the time they have an instinct of knowing where they are going they don’t know how to give directions) Shamefully New Yorkers 8 out 10 chance they never been to any of the tourists sites. Ask them if they have ever been to __________ and they will tell you NO. Sad really.

Here in small town Iowa there is a golf course that I frequent. As in a lot of places there are houses all around the course. One day I noticed two flags flying from a back yard flag pole, the first was the American flag and the second was the Scottish national flag. A couple of months later the Scottish national flag was replaced by the Bonnie Scotland flag. This year they are flying the Queen of Scotland flag (red lion) Just thought I'd let you know that you fellows are everywhere and showing your colors.

When people talk about the American stock market there are two broad terms that are used: they say it's a "bull market" if prices are generally going up, and a "bear market" when they're generally going down. (Think of how each attacks: a bull runs in horns low and attacks upward, a bear raises his paw and swipes downward) The Bull of Wall Street is a symbol for optimism that the markets will rise more than fall.

As a Bostonian New Yorkers are nice but they have a terrible football team (Jets not the Giants). Many years ago when Boston didn't have a football team (pre 1960) the Giants were our favorite team 1925-1960. The JETS have always been hated here... seriously hated lol
