@@Brandon-G-413 not that I want to argue with a random on the internet… but that’s a no for me. The assembly is one header. A inline 4 has one, V engines have two. The header is a combination of a flange, primary tubes, and a collector. More over, my comment was meant to be taken as an attempt at humor. It was a joke. Although admittedly, a two word comment is of course wildly open to being misconstrued.

They can still one-up that by going equal-length 8-into-1 (hint hint!) (and even better if the collector has all the pipes lined up in firing order, for improved scavenging) Though actually building that particular snake's nest will be exceptionally difficult, so perhaps leave that as a thought experiment.

@@v12alpine yep! The thick rod early engines are insanely tough. Definitely don’t make the power like LS engines do, but they 100% win all the cool points haha. They’re still no slouches though

That would free up some power but lower the power to the plugs… It makes more power and electrical energy at high rpm’s and it needs this. Most probably wouldn’t notice the power loss if they run a performance coil. Without a computer monitoring it.

Definitely a good idea to hold off on the painting till after the rain stopped. When I was a kid my dad used to do some destruction derby racing and we did a "house paint" paint job on one of the cars. He grabbed some crazy purple color that was on sale for cheap and we just threw it on the car in about an hour. We let it sit outside to dry overnight (for the race the next day) and didn't know that it was going to rain that night. Well needless to say it started raining about 30mins after we finished painting it and the paint never got to dry. The rain started making the paint bubble up and slide off the car and totally cleared off every bit of paint we put on the car. Big patches of paint just sliding off the body panels and flopping onto the street hahahaha. In the morning we realized now the only thing we successfully painted was the street and now almost 40 years later there is still a few spots on the road with that ugly purple paint.

Why don't you start with something more attainable, even if it's a 4.8/5.3 you can still make something fun. Don't let money be your excuse. There plenty of old RWD vehicles out there that can be your starting point. If money is short that 8-1 could always feed a basic, cheap, GT45 turbo, that'll make 700hp at the crank safely on a 4.8 with E85, twin 450lph fuel pumps, Snake Eater 1500cc injectors, Elgin 228/230 cam is fine, get an adjustable timing set (and two piece timing cover)and science out your Dynamic compression to get the most power from the fuel you're using. If you are insistent on n/a an aluminum 5.3 can do a good job taking an LS7s place, if it doesn't have flat top pistons swap some in or go to decent domed pistons. Do some minor clean up on 706 heads, Elgin 238/242 cam, mill heads and/or use thinner head gaskets to get static compression around 11-11.7:1 then dial in cam timing to make dynamic compression as aggressive as possible with the fuel you will be using (low 9.0-9.3:1 seems to be what people target on 93 oct pump) use a TBSS intake, 92mm tb, 180 tstat, 25,% udp, NGK TR6s, 8-1 header, if you can afford Holley Terminator X which is probably the most important thing so you can control whatever engine or combo you are going to have through time, then you can tune for a dry shot of nitrous.

Well, it was actually lap 14, but yes, I made a mistake trying push Nick by Halie as hard as I did. Too aggressive too early and I was upset with myself before I came to a stop. Even with all of that said, it’s racing and it happens. There is not a single “pro” racer in the world who has not caused an accident that they regret, or pushed too hard and crashed. I am grateful that everyone is ok and we can all race again.
