Man…you’re really good at explaining this stuff, especially for people who use some of this gear a little bit don’t understand it’s full functionality. I never really understood pre/postfaders till now. Thanks a lot 👍

That great brother 🎉🎉🎉 most likely I used the auxiliary for reverb and delay separating for vocal on analog mixers, but on the digital is totally different ❤❤❤

A video on making some of these connections might be quite useful to most of us. Just take a stomp box delay unit , something simple and 1/4'' cables to make these connections. After watching lots of videos, and not finding an ans for adding a processor or simple delay unit to my small Yamaha MG10XU mixer, through trial and error I got it done; Yamaha 'effects-send' to the line in or 'in' of my external effect (delay unit) then from the 'out' of my delay unit to a line in or mic in of any channel. My MG10 does not have aux sends.

With this mixer You’re saying to run external Effects you have to commit another channel to just effects return (AUX2)?
@Initial_Gain11 күн бұрын
I see there is also Aux2. I'm assuming this you set the internal effects of the mixer separately per channel. But can you send Aux2 signal from the Aux2 send output WITHOUT the internal effects? So that I could use Aux1 for Left and Aux2 for Right for an external stereo effects unit input. Thank you very much for this clear tutorial that is rare to find elsewhere.

I have a 12 channel with 2 aux sends per channel. 2 aux output mains jacks. There is 1 return 1/4 jack. I assume that the intensity of effect is controlled by the aux send on each on channel and the return pot?

Thanks so much for your video. I have two questions. 1. Does the PRE button only impacts the aux 1, or both Aux1 and Aux 2? 2. There is a single knob for Aux2 and FX. So it is duel purpose knob? Controls Aux2 volume as well as FX intensity for the channel? Thanks in advance.

I connected yesterday a Zoom H6 via 1/4” cable on both ends to a mixing board, I connected it to an Aux and my final recording was pretty bad. I could barely hear the instruments and the vocals sounded at a distance. I activated the -20db pad on the Zoom. Those aux outputs were used for headphones, but the sound tech told me that I could use them. I am not sure what happened.

Nice!!! Do you have a video on how to connect amps to the mixer using the aux input?
@bikersoncallАй бұрын
You would not want to connect an 'Amp' to an aux input, unless the amp has a 'line' out, NOT A POWER OUT from an amp. However, you might be asking how to connect the line-out of a guitar amp or keyboard amp,' to a mixer, which could be done with amp line out to any mixer channel.

Great Video - Interestingly, I have that very Yamaha mixer, the 12MG XU. The question that has been driving me nuts is what set of outputs to I plug my EV18" powered subwoofer into to run independently of the main speakers. I've heard that i should NOT use the MONITOR outs, which seemed the easiest solution. Would I use the AUX sends or perhaps the GROUP 1-2 outs?
@coliwobbles514Ай бұрын
I believe it’s via Aux 1 or 2. The monitor outputs are literally for studio monitors and not floor monitors. Seems dumb to me but worth a try.

Hi, great channel, recently subbed. I purchased the Yamaha MG10XU for a live show that we will be taking on the road. I’m new to the audio mixing space. Your videos on this mixer have been most helpful, thank you. Question - I need to take two line outs from the mixer. One is to send the mix to an Atem Extreme for the livestream. The 2nd line out is to feed a house audio system. What are your recommendations for achieving this? Thanks in advance.
@kettnercreative7 ай бұрын
I would use a 1/8" TRS to dual 1/4" TS cable (currentprice.io/14_to_dual_18) to go from your stereo outputs into your ATEM. Then send the XLR inputs to the house sound system.

Very informative. Although I didn't understand how exactly to connect an effects unit (eg, reverb/delay) to my vocalists. I understand the Aux out and the Aux mix control, but how do I get vocals to go to the efx unit and then return?
@bikersoncallАй бұрын
I can't address the 'aux' jacks, my MG10XU only has 'Effects-Send*'. I plugged a 1/4'' TS into my Effects-Send, and other end of cable to a delay unit 'in', and went 1/4'' out of delay unit to any channel 1 or any channel. I'm guessing aux out is similar to effects-send, with maybe different routing. Let us all know what you find out.

Does the Aux 1 and Aux 2 work in the same way. Whether we can get Effects (Reverb) in the Floor Monitors on Stage through Aux 1 and Aux 2. Or can we cut off effects (Reverb) in the Floor Monitors through Aux 1 or 2
@coliwobbles514Ай бұрын
I believe he mentioned this is the pre and post fade section. I would try pressing down the ‘pre’ button on the selected channel and turning the aux dial to either eliminate reverb (all the way down) or turn dial clockwise to add reverb.

Awesome video on using the Aux! Firstly a massive thanks to Kettner Creative, it's thanks to you that I know how to use my MG12XU mixer. One question though, if I wanted to have multiple monitors with different mixes controlled by Aux1 would that be possible, or would I have to use aux2 for a separate mix and be limited to two monitor mixes? Thanks again for all the useful content!

What about stereo aux output ? Wouldn’t you have to use both aux one and two? Then you lose pre or post option. Why is it so elusive to find a budget mixer with 16 aux mono / 8 aux stereo outputs for iem mixes.😂 they seem to cost the earth.
@kettnercreative7 ай бұрын
Most people looking for 8 stereo monitors would have an input list with more than 48 inputs. This would easily put you in the territory of a full scale digital setup.
