69 1/2 years old. I have had several kidney stones in the last year, also a bladder infection that just wouldn't go away for around 6 months. Took antibiotics and it finally went away according to my last 2 urine specimens. However I have been seeing a fair amount of blood in my urine for the last couple of months off and on. Just had a cystoscopy a week ago. Bladder is clear. However my urologist says he can't account for the blood in my urine and recommended a biopsy. I asked for a prostate MRI and he agreed but also said that he still wanted to do a biopsy. My feeling is at 70 years old, I don't see why I should self inducing possible problems from a biopsy. If I was maybe 45-50 ok, but not now at this age. I am scheduled for a prostate MRI in about 2 weeks. Initially, my PSA in 2022 was 1.5. Then about a month ago I went to see my doctor for a check up and my PSA was 4.9. I was sent to see my urologist 2 weeks later and he wanted another PSA done prior to the appointment and it went from 4.9 to 6.3 in two weeks. Thus his recommendation for a biopsy. We'll see what the results of the prostate MRI, but I don't seen doing a prostate biopsy at this point.

I went thought this journey from March to mid May of this year at Mayo Clinic. Was seeing blood in urine and deduced it happening post-bowel movement straining. I am on a 6 infusion chemo regime so my insides are fighting all the time. I had the bladder cystoscopy to rule out bladder cancer. Entire procedure less than two minutes and I watched the camera scan the lining of the bladder. No cancer, but the lining was scarred from tens of radiation sessions. I had a consult at the Mayo Hyperbaric Medicine Clinic. Signed up for 35 sessions of overpressure oxygen in their chamber. For 35 days I went daily for treatment. I lived in Rochester and walked to the clinic the majority of the time. I can say that the treatment worked for me. I do take stool softeners and Metamucil, and I know to just go with the flow and not push or strain bowel movement. I was not offered the cancer test cited in this video. The scope was fast and clear cut. Obviously, there is a big mental leap thinking of running a camera up ones urethra, but it went fast and painless.

Hey I've also got radiation cystitis, thanks for sharing about hyperbaric oxygen. I will ask about that at my next appointment as it's been ongoing for months and hasn't gotten better or worse. I also had cystoscopy and while it felt odd it was over quickly with no pain. good luck to you with your treatments.

As Usual... Excellent information about blood in the urine. My blood in urine caught my bladder cancer early. 12 years with annual Cystoscopy have shown no re-currence. (yup ... Cystoscopy is uncomfortable... but not that bad.) Prostate cancer is much more serious AND confusing.

71, Going to the er with gross hematuria l suspect left over from improper protocol RT 9 months previous. Big clots. I saw no urologist they looked for kidney stones but once l got there the blood stopped although ended up with cystoscopy 10 days later to see some necropsy. HOT to heal the bladder 57 treatments way too many. Advanced my glaucoma at a quicker pace although doc said l will need cataract surgery either way so not a big deal although l see fine now and barely wear my glasses unless driving at night. Took about a month for blood to completely go away. All good now on flo max hoping prostate shrinks on its own as it dies.

Hi..thanks for everything...I had few drops of blood coming out with my urine and then stopped. I have an enlarged prostate and my PSA is 2.5 but I will ask my doctor for cxbladder test and I hope it is as accurate as the cystoscopy procedure...thanks

How about blood in stool after radiation?
@paul911034 ай бұрын
I had no blood in stool, just in urine. Sometime there was nothing, others times drips with clots. Sometimes just a small stream at the end of urination.

Maybe do a video on blood in semen? Seems more common with prostate cancer and even more frightening.
