Total different solicitations, total different effects on the human body. Longitudinal-lateral axis one and normal axis the other (and also the other axis, during pitch or roll or combined during maneuvres). G-Forces on normal axis lead to many diseases, actually, this is the most vulnerable axis for human resistance [ upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/97/Human_linear_acceleration_tolerance.svg/800px-Human_linear_acceleration_tolerance.svg.png ], blood comes to feet or too much in the brain, you view change, your weight can increase over 10 times, Grey out, blackouts or G-LOC effects, some of the many problems during this types of body stresses. Also, you have to consider the time. In racing (also in Redbull air racing unless except in one turn where they reach up to 11-12G for longer than 1 seconds) you have principally instantaneous solicitations: " A trained, fit individual wearing a g suit and practising the straining manoeuvre can, with some difficulty, sustain up to 12-14g without loss of consciousness." - There are recorded Missle-dodge manoeuvre in USAF F-15 which leads up to 20G instantaneously and more than 14G sustained. At this levels, when you are approaching 9G, your capillaries start to explode from the pressure, you do not have the strength to move the yoke, the blood goes to the feet, you find it hard to breathe and in all this, you have to be precise or conscious maybe while manoeuvres at low altitude in operative situations. I mean, F1 is definitely an athletic tough sport which requires such good training, but take instantaneous lateral-longitudinal G (at that low level, obviously more than 10-12G for more to 0.2-0.3 second will lead to problems even if lateral) isn't problematic from a medical point of view. Yes, it requires skill and technique, and breathing is still difficult as said by Bottas, especially in some fast corners, but they are not comparable things I think.
