Thank you Ford for sponsoring this video! Today we are taking a brand-new Ford Mustang Mach-E® SUV for a drive... without using our hands! BlueCruise uses externally facing sensors and a driver-facing camera, as well as a GPS database to determine if you can drive hands free. The Ford BlueCruise Level 2 Advanced drivers assistant is impressive. I’ve gone more than 30 minutes without ever touching the steering wheel! Obviously, I'm still in charge of the vehicle, and I'm still paying attention to my surroundings and the road in-front of me.

As for the Tesla comparison: since the system warns you when you take your eyes off the road, it makes no difference to rest your hands, which you keep in the air the whole time, lightly on the steering wheel. The result is the same, except that you don't have tired arms. Also, it only works on the highway, where the steering wheel only moves a few degrees, which is a huge difference. Furthermore, a Tesla also now monitors the eyes, which means that interaction with the steering wheel could theoretically be switched off. But this additional safety feature is more due to Tesla's pioneering work in self-driving and the resulting earlier NTSHA requirements.

Just like everyone else is saying about the timing of your Tweet & this video. It's nice that a "Level 2 system" is impressive when it's with Ford as your description says, but it's a massive problem when you name your system "FSD". Acting like Tesla didn't have it Hands Free at one point as well, as if it's not understandable as to why they would make it so you'd have to have your hands on the wheel. It just feels disingenuous. I have this question. If Tesla didn't bear the weight of introducing this technology, and pioneering the idea that self driving cars could be a thing, do you think the car you're driving right now with that "Hands Free" feature would be existent to this day? Tesla walked so other companies could run. I still believe the Tesla deserves a lot of credit for what they've done & arguing semantics on naming seems dumb. This feels more like a way for you to put down Tesla for being tied to Elon, rather then a genuine critique seeing as how many holes can be poked through your bias towards each self driving technology.

I'm a big fan of the GM SuperCruise, which is basically the same, except it will auto do lane changes if you desire for it to do so. I've made several 3+ hour long trips and only needed to drive when changing roads. It will pass slower vehicles then move back over to the lane you started in once the pass is complete and it's safe to do so. They aren't perfect systems, but I'm enjoying mine!

I have both autopilot in my Tesla and Blue Cruise in my lightning. I honestly prefer Blue Cruise because of the hands off. Lightning doesn't have lane change yet. Ford's adaptive lane centering is more like basic autopilot. IMHO the big advantage ford has is that you can change lanes without turning the system on and off as in the Tesla.

No way in hell would i ever recommend this, and that sucks because im overall really excited for this tech, but the problem is multiple people have reported bluecruise randomly turning the wheel to the side on the freeway and almost killing people (luckily they usually react and take control just in time). And of course when they share these experiences on the internet they get the typical internet answer of "well its still youre fault it says you need to be ready to take control at any moment". So basically it almost always works, but it can AND MIGHT randomly try to kill you at any moment, and if it succeeds its your fault. Why would anyone want to use it then? Having to be ready to narrowly evade death at any moment is more stressful then just driving

And you have the added reliability of having a dealer in just about every city across North America. Have a problem with it? Go and drop it off and make them give you a loaner. Good luck with that owning a Tesla.

Zack, I was wondering, does it disengage BlueCruise IF you just touch or just a bit turn steering wheel, or do you need to grap it with both hands? Grabbing with both hands would be better and there's probably sensors which detects your hand temperature or something that you'll take over now. Because you could accidentally touch steering wheel with your knee.

I allowed the trial to expire on Blue Cruise on my MME only because I primarily do city driving. I did use it for some hour drives and it's definitely a fatigue easing tool for interstate driving. This is especially true for when you come up to congestion. The Adaptive cruise does a good job of relieving the driver of having to maintain spacing and yes, the lane change is great to have. If I were commuting on a freeway or interstate, it would be a huge stress saver.

I own a Kia K5, the car driving by at 3:40 and 5:35. It has active cruise control which does everything Zach mentioned but it's not completely hands free. It doesn't have an eye tracking system so it requires you to keep your hands on the wheel but you can take it off for a minute without it beeping. The car can make turns and change lanes without hands and it is relatively pretty safe. Edit: also it's not a subscription.

As I watch this video in my Mach E I have to say, the car itself is an incredible ride. The blue cruise is decent at best but the automation isn’t user friendly. Long drives are troublesome. You have to maintain eye contact straight forward the entire time. Even though things happen all around you. You can’t drive with one hand either. The one hand on the top of the wheel blocks the camera and loses contact with your eyes. So you have to reposition. But even with that said the battery is the biggest downfall of this vehicle. Advertises 430km to a charge but I don’t really get anything near that in long drives. I often only get half of that… Again, love the car but the battery and infrastructure are lacking remarkably still. Great vid Jerry!

It’s definitely a joy to have, I travel about 71 miles one way for work. And 90 percent of that drive most days is blue cruise, it does a pretty good job staying in the lane and not bouncing around. But what it does that have me nervous at times, it’s when we’re taking a curve it’s keeping the same speed instead of slowing down. It’s been said, there’s anew software update coming, so change lanes, slowing down and moving over etc. I have a 2022 Mach-E and haven’t received it, can’t wait till I do. Because it will definitely get put to work, if I haven’t made it clear, I love it!😂 love the content, peace and blessings ✊🏿.

My question is if the feature is worth the price tag. Standby driving only on interstate roads seems like both a restriction that means the vast majority of the average person's drive time wouldn't be covered, and that what portion is covered it doesn't really provide much quality of life. That little of a benefit is then locked behind both an expensive up front cost in the car itself paired with an ongoing cost in a subscription makes the product a non-stater for anyone who isn't a tech-enthusiast.
