Finally covered Heihachi! He was highly requested and wanted to cover this as best as I could. Some things I want to pin: - 6:00: Minor blip (my apologies!): should be: 甦った/“yomigaetta” for the Romaji, not “yomi kaetta” (thanks DiabolicCrusher!). - 17:04: 無駄じゃ (muda ja), this line is heard when a successful sabaki has been performed with back 1+2. - 17:08: 隙あり (sukiari), this is heard with the same sabaki, but against Heihachi's favourite people, like Xiaoyu and Reina. - On the character select screen, he says 始めるとするか？(Hajimeru to suru ka?), meaning: "Shall we begin?"/"Shall we start?" Hot take, but Kusunoki is by far my favorite Heihachi voice. He's like the perfect mix of Gori and Izuka to me. Has the badass old man energy of Gori and the goofiness of Izuka.

Despite voicing an evil ambitious man, each of Heihachi's seiyuus have a different take on the character. Daisuke Gori's performance, while embodying the old man too angry to die the best, is a lot more comical, especially with his deep and raspy laugh, especially when a lot of the endings between 3 and 6 makes him into a joke. Unsho Izuka's delivery is probably the humanized Heihachi ever was. Frustrated, tired, accepting he's the most hated person in the Tekken universe, no matter what. Taiten Kusunoki's take makes Heihachi sound straight up evil. Even at his best, Heihachi is pretty apathetic and manipulative. While his respect for Xiaoyu of all people is odd, it is consistent from the Netflix anime. I'm surprised he has little interaction with Lee Chaolan, who was pretty done with Heihachi and had no real reason to still hold a grudge, let's remember when Heihachi spanks Lee when you a match in the Tag games with those two.

Definitely! I like all takes of the character. Daisuke Gouri’s is my favourite as that’s the one I’m most familiar with. He captured the evilness, hilarity and gruffness of the character (due to Heihachi’s age, of course). Kusunoki’s take is like a mixture of the late Gouri and the late Ishizuka. It’s interesting to hear.

The literal translation for the one at 5:30 would probably be "get reborn and come try again!". Though it's pretty much "Try again in your next life!", yeah, honestly my favorite Heihachi quote. 6:12 I think he says "yomigaetta"(revived) and not "yomi kaetta" in this one, so basically "revived me is invincible!", doesn't make as much sense in english i guess but sounds cool all the same.

Although his inclusion in this game makes zero sense, glad he's back. Heihachi main here, at 17:04 he says "Muda ja" after a successful counter using Back 1+2 and getting a heat engage off of it. Sometimes you end up hearing that a lot in fights due to how easy the counter is to use repeatedly.

I'd like to add that when Heihachi does an electric, he says "sorya!" which is a kiai aka an exclamation used when fighting to control breath, tighten core muscles, or to intimidate the opponent, expresse confidence and other purposes. Also, when he does CD 3, you didn't cover what he says, so maybe we could get some context?

He also says that to Jin, especially with the Stonehead throw. Another example is the move Eight Thunder Kami Slayer (2+3, right) when using the Heat mechanic, and he’ll say 小童が! (kowappa ga!) which means ‘You brat!’ instead of 死にさらせ!(shinisarase!) meaning “Die!”, so “Go and die!”. 🤭

There is no “Onore”? I was hoping for another mother”sorya”! from Heihachi. You did really good job on translating his lines as well. I do not have a copy of Tekken 8 because I don’t have a PS5, but I did watch some scenes from the story mode. Note: Currently translating Hwoarang’s ending dialogues (and as well as his master, Baek Doo San) and the translations are way off for his lines. I am 95% finished and I just need to edit some sample footages and voice files to show when Hwoarang says certain lines. I have literally translated EVERY LINES from Tekken 4 to Tekken 8. So the file that I am going to send soon will contain all of his dialogues, including his hidden and unused ones. Look forward to it. Once again let me say this: 정말 위대합니다 선생!
