That Economist cover was a classic contrarian trade. Congrat to whoever caught the move!

Hi Jason. Just became a subscriber to CMR because your philosophy and use of data are crystal clear. You give signal amidst the noise.

Thank you.

Watching it now, it is more phenomenal how you were among the rare(for me, the only one from the ones I follow) traders who had been long stock market at the time. Thanks Jason for sharing all your knowledge!

I've been only losing money following "traders" with tens of thousands of subscribers. Somehow I like these videos only get up to 1K views. It's the contrarian proof

@@jasonshapiro4369 Was thinking either August 14 or 15 but super busy up until the 14. So decided Monday would be best. Glad I did. Hopefully it can be a sort of B-Day present.

Hi Jason! Just a tip to avoid that whole bunch of ads on your screen: Use Brave Browser, or install some adblocker plug in for Chrome. Ps.: I like your approach, am looking forward to get to know more about a true contrarian approach. In a video before you explained how you enter positions at some turning point. Could you make also some insight how you further menage them, what criteria make you exit or scale out, do you trail stops or exit into strenght?

Very succinct, high quality clip. Besides intuitively reading sentiment, valuable in its own right, is there value in also using readily available sentiment survey data (like AAII) alongside CoT? I realize survey data is easily manipulated, while CoT is more "hard," (i.e. putting money where mouth is, unike survey data). Where does technical analysis fit in here, theoretically? Good TA supposedly can measure sentiment, theoretically ...
@crowdedmarketreport2 жыл бұрын
Other sentiment data has some value. We quote AAII often in our reports and chat. To your point, COT is king and others help paint the picture. As far as TA, no use in the CMR process as market participation and market action determine trades. We do recommend John Murphy’s book on TA. Beyond that, not much to offer. www.crowdedmarketreport.com/books/

Great video. thank you! Take a look at the cover page of different magazines seen to be a good way to check the sentiment of 95% of the people on the markets.

There have been a few good ones. At the end of the day COT data from the CFTC is the source of truck because it is based on data versus sentiment.

Can you please help understand decoding CoT Like super newbie and have bet money like Jackie Chan(yes i follow all your content) and lost it all That money was supposed to be the downpayment for my first ever automobile! Would love to join your "inner circle". Your personality really resonates with me. The only reading i have done till now (after losing all my money) is on human psychology. So any basic reads suggestion will be highly appreciated too In case I didn't mention it already: big fan.

Well said, but it did not work the last few weeks as retail traders made money also. One may guess that a trap door would be waiting as they jumped in after 2 weeks from the bottom after institutional buyer were in. Human nature is most of the retail traders will stay long and if this was just a large fast bear rally . They may lose not only their gains but a portion of the principle for most. You may see it the way the majority saw that we were going to have a major correction and now this is the transition from minority to majority opinion that we will go to new highs. the complete extreme reversal. Time will tell. I was doing well on the decline, but now not well actually missed the rally as I have been distracted. As for $WEAT truly I sold on its peak almost to the penny. It was so funny on Twitter to see so many big names that day saying they bought it when I sold it. So I should not feel too bad, sometimes I am in the top 1% in this and other times I am in the 98% of losers. I was just not focused due to things beyond my control. As far as TA we did not really get capitulation at the bottom and the only thing that indicated a rally was your chart but I saw it too late.
