I love these educational videos that pop up every now and then, which can be watched long after they're posted without feeling like one's hearing old news, since he doesn't talk about market action but is rather discussing theory and application.

It's really fascinating how a Market Wizard like you is saying the exact things mentioned in Trading in the Zone book. Gives those words from the book even more weight. Thanks Jason!

I did not invent any of these concepts, but they are pretty universal

Yes, but your perspective of looking at things in market is extremely helpful to us. For example, the example you gave of moving averages. They may not have any statistical significance, but can be good measures of risk management. Peter Brandt, another Market Wizard featured along with you in Jack's book mentions similar thing that though he trades chart patterns, they don't have any statistical edge. It is risk management process with them which is his edge.

Also, you are not here to force and take money from the market, you have to take whatever market is offering you(and accept when it isn't) is another gem.

Wise words. I’ve been doing this 8 years now. I could make money in the first year, however not losing it has taken me 7. Now I’m there I feel almost new to trading despite having put all this time in. And people make fun of me all the time, but I am past caring about this. It’s kind of a long standing joke now. + I’ve subscribed… will lookout for updates 👀

Another great video Jason, thank you! in my experience: -just using simple indicators as is (like the common moving averages) are generally unprofitable in the long term -optimizing them for each particular stock (find "the best" MA) through backtesting makes it slightly unprofitable (though always risk of overfitting) -adding in good risk management (optimal take profit and stop loss targets) makes it slightly profitable -and then adding in the optimal leverage based on return and Sharp ratio (Kelly formula) can make it reasonably profitable

Maybe it’s coincidence, but the COT has been so quiet the last 1-2 months in giving extreme reading that it’s forced me to be in cash through these difficult times. Nice to have a system that doesn’t always have you participating in the market and had cash as a trade

I agree with your message but disagree with the statement that the market is random. It is definitely not a random walk. I would discribe it as chaotic (fractal). I like your trading strategy because it reminds me of "buy when everyone else is afraid and sell when everyone else is greedy", but with better timing signals.

If the markets are random, witch im sure they are, then wy not open a short position with one broker and a long position with another and set your parameters so when you win you make double the amount of your losing position? Im thinking about that since a a couple of months but never tried it. Has anyone ever tried such a thing? I appreciate your video's on here and Crowded Market report, fan from Montreal. Thanks

If you do that , you will again be timing the market when there is volatility in the market, let’s see today what happened in Nvidia. It shot up to 515 and then draw back happens, it’s extremely challenging to predict for longer duration. That’s what his main point is. You can make profits for 6 months and then start going wrong. One has to take a direction and then experience and learn from his moves. What you want to do seems easier to achieve but to make money in this market is extremely challenging.

Another great video. Thank you for sharing, Jason. I love the money you have on the wall. It seems like money from a country like Zimbabwe or alike. Is it to remind you what happens when a central bank prints a lot of money? :) Cheers

Ok I assume this is for day trading? Or even swing? What about risk management for longer term investing, for example buying BTC with an expected hold of 2 years?

If you think MA are good for risk mgt, why shouldn't they be good for positioning? Either MA are crap or they are not.

I tried that with credit Susisse. Kept buying low and lever realized that 2nd largest Bank of the Swiss can fail and it happened. So risk management is never actually a Risk management. Good thing though is, I had only 3 % of my portfolio in that. It’s all very very complex risk management.

Yes its all random. Thats why all those rich people stay out of the markets lol. It's not random at all, it's all patterns and knowing the other guys sentiment and position. If everyone is using an indicator it's highly relevent.
