Yooo that's real shit when ceros said "I'm not good, I'm kind. There's a difference" I say that shit all time. Like "yo I lost the right to be called a good person a long time ago. I've done too much bad shit to ever be classify as good" but if I care about someone, I'm the nicest mf in the world.

Not doing harm while harmless is easy. Being gentle when you are quite able to defend yourself, and have been forced to learn how well, is on purpose, and difficult. Kind people that can bear their own kindness in spite of their scars are heroic in my eyes.
@interloc12904 ай бұрын
I immediately understood it from the opposite end of that Cartesian graph. I am GOOD …but I’m NOT kind. I was forcibly taught this about myself after a life of failing to help ppl and a few very choice candid moments where I got to discreetly observe what ppl think of me. I know I care about other people in a way that’s probably not normal or healthy, random coworkers or stories I’ll hear on TV even I will just fixate on how to sort of optimize the situation for their well being….but something about the way I communicate is NOT received as kindness from ppl. So much of my life and relationships play out like this Greek tragedy where my advice and predictions for the ppl I care about SO often become reality but at the time it could’ve helped NO one listens. That’s why I’m never really SHORT on friends because they pretty reliably realize I WAS correct and thinking or acting in their best interest, they just NEVER realize I until AFTER it becomes impossible to act on, and I always forgive them and never bring it up. It’s happened so many times with so many different people where they don’t like something I’m saying or HOW I’m saying it and when I HEAR recordings of myself I can see WHY tbh. (I started recording some of these conversations consensually for like relationships or like big convos with my kids) But they don’t like whatever IT is….there is a fallout, they sort of detonate the relationship or pull back, then days, weeks, months even years later THEY will go OUT of there way to seek me out and acknowledge the thing I said happened how I said it would before hand and caused all this damage and they missed me because I was honest. Friends, exes, family will muster all this extra energy to bring me BACK into their life in a way I don’t believe they would if I was just completely insufferable, but I feel like if I was kinder it just wouldn’t even get to that point. I imagine this is what it feels like to make a wish on one of those cursed monkey paws, where it gives u what u want but in f***ed way where you can’t be happy? Like I almost always know WHAT to say to help a friend….but CAN only say it in a way where they will absolutely NOT listen.

This discussion really resonates with me as a Black queer (gay) male who happens to questioning my gender identity. Navigating these intersecting identities often feels like walking on eggshells, especially within Black spaces where homophobia and anti-queerness are still prevalent. Growing up in a suburban area with fewer Black people, I often felt isolated and disconnected from Black culture, this is also partly due to my bipolar disorder, which made me feel different and not fully engaged in cultural references. The pressure to conform to ideas of Blackness and masculinity is something I’ve lived with for a long time, particularly in work environments where I present more masculinely than I’d prefer, just to fit in. In white spaces, it’s exhausting to constantly prove my intellect and avoid being seen as a caricature. As far as mental health, my own family kept mental illness hush-hush, often deferring to the church instead of seeking proper support. As a survivor of domestic violence in a heteronormative, queer interracial relationship, I’ve found little support within the Black community, which often doesn’t acknowledge these experiences. Yet, I still believe in the power of solidarity and community. My mother was a multiculturalist who emphasized unity among different peoples, and that’s a legacy I strive to carry forward. I’m passionate about using my platform to spread awareness and advocate for marginalized communities. For me, it’s all about coming together and creating a world where everyone’s humanity is recognized and valued. We’re all in this together, and as a Star Trek fan, I believe in that vision of unity and progress.

Have you heard of bearxfifi? Idk if they're exclusively on IG, but it's a black couple (one of them is trans) who are content creators. Full disclosure, I was on a podcast episode with one of them a few years ago, but I had a really great experience in talking to them, particularly within the context of your comment. I think they're doing great work in educating people and building a community for us black folks that don't necessarily fit in with conventionally minded "black culture", if that makes sense. I realize this is a late ass comment, but I wanted to point them out.

I listen because I enjoy the topics, rhe personalities, and the nuggets of insight and knowledge. Im grown enough not to need somebody to tell me what I should think, but i still like hearing folks from all different regions and perspectives telling it how they see it. Yooooo your story of growing up in the hood while being the weird kid reminds me of my hometown. I knew all the black goth, punks, skaters, alt kids in my town and they were all hööd as hell. They might not have been with a set, but they had older brothers or uncles who were deep into gang life. I remember being rolled up on by strangers and low key freaking out, only to realize someone in our group knew the other folks. “Aye, you good? Momma cooking, can you get some milk in the way home? Aight” One of the most soft spoken effeminate goth kids I knew was down to brawl and protect loved ones without hesitation. Honestly, it was kind of cool living a life of open duality. We’d listen to techno or new wave while drinking 40s, sci-fi and anime discussions were punctuated with “my nig”

Inagine how stressful that is lol. I was constantly trying to prove my blackness until a few years ago. I literally just learned what a hotep was from FD's Drake video and it was like a whole thing. I also just started dating this white girl i been super passionate about for the longest time, and im tryna conquer my own internalized racism, let alone deal with any my family may have. Im so glad there are creators like y’all making videos like these. Im white, and while i was born in the US and had lots of non-white friends, I moved to Scandinavia pretty early in my life, and there are just no black people there. I remember the first friend I ever made was a black kid, and after that point there just weren’t even really any black kids around, and the ones that were didn’t want to risk mingling with white people in a whiteasfuck country (for obvious reasons). There is an uncountable number of people I’ve had to drop because they revealed disgusting, underlying completely internalised racism. All cause there was no one was smacking them upside the head for spitting that bullshit, cause EVERYONE was. Its not like i didn’t try to change their minds, but if they don’t see black people or whoever else as human, there not a lot anyone can really do about that. Plus, thats not even to mention the long history of racism in the country I’m in, they were still putting the n-word in the NEWS until like 1990s or some shit like they did not give a FUCK, but I digress. All i wanted to say was that I’m thankful for what y’all do, cause it gives me a chance to learn things that my environment can’t teach me, and helps me understand the struggles of your lives that I don’t have access to find out about and understand otherwise. And i know that the way I explained some things here probably weren’t great or accurate, but i just wanted to say thank you, i love what you guys do, and i can’t wait to see and hear (and read) more.

31:03 I think some people found it relatable to see one person trying and the other being kind of destructive and vindictive. Idk how people got the idea he has a spotless pass, but that's still really rough to see someone go through, especially around the age when you start to get tired of everything anyway. Less about who's worse, more about the fact that it was happening live and a lot of people saw a father, or mother or brother or sister in what was going on with Will Smith even if not resonating personally.

Ooh i gotta check that out! My parents are hardcore evangelicals (traumatized me for being queer and everything) and they left the church they were at for like 15 years cuz the pastor was just taking people’s money to fund his lifestyle. That church didn’t do ANY volunteer work whatsoever. Tbh “believers” are the easiest people to scam cuz they don’t often think critically about what they’re taught and told to do because they’re told it’s wrong to question things 😭 it’s sad to watch :/

The Civil Rights, Black Power movement, Black Panthers, etc. we're all a collective Fuck You to white ideology. The Media took notice and began catering to Black culture. I just saw the Soul vs regular Burger King ad 😂. The 80s saw the slow dismantling of the wall dividing Black America from white. And now I feel that we both gained and lost our identity.

The switchup on the delivery and research after FTP is gonna burn so many creators on here. If you do daily uploads, hustle, hustle, hustle, but essayists who dip into the well to much lose out on the elongated returns that some of the larger channels benefit from. That ability to come back after months and occupy the minds of people who have already resonated with your material goes away once you start dipping your hands into the well of diminishing returns. 8:25 I'm glad for that, because I don't get to know what I'm sleeping on till I wake up about it. 28:05 We're all stuck behind our own eyes, and we have ears for that. 30:00 I'm so sorry you were taken for granted like that, woah. I hope they change/changed? 31:00 I've never written so many timestamps before. This is the first I'm hearing of this too. Conspicuous silence is starting to get noticed by me from now on I hope. Yo, you're like paint remover for metaphorical eye-scales. 31:45 Do you think he's trying to recover? Narcissism is typically a self-soothing coping mechanism gone way too far. 34:45 Anyone who thinks "oh, they wont have a website" deserves to get overcharged for not using google to find a place. lol. 35:25 I thought Ebonics has just as many words and idioms any other dialect, I just have as much luck knowing all of those words as I would being able to know what anyone says in Appalachia. There is a manufactured language barrier between our populations, and it breaks my heart, and I'm so sorry. I genuinely have nobody to practice all of the vocabulary with. 36:00 I hate that it can be taken for granted. I didn't learn racism even existed still till I was 8. I learned the "good guys" won WW2, and thought Racism was over already. I've been waking up constantly ever since, and its so... so bad... 38:16 My favorite thing about differences is learning good or funny things for the first time with a new friend. 38:45 I might be unfun too as I've been entertained the whole time man. lol. 39:10 Omg lol if you hung around towns that have enough bleach in the wash they'll think you look like "All the others" anyway. Gross silver lining, UGH. I can't fully imagine the difficulties man, but its definitely a neighbor's job to try. 39:55 The nature of content production and editing forces us into being perceived unauthentically, and it stinks. Incomplete and tarnished sample size of interaction creating a wonky bias is natural, and bogus. 40:20 That's definitely because you concentrate and hyperfocus and spend a lot of energy and passion on your work, and we only get to see the moments when the presentation act is pristine. 40:53 You both have a gift for this, that's why. Its like Robin Williams, dude. Or Katt Williams for that matter, or Richard Prior. Lots of people with gifts end up being misrepresented by those same gifts, and are crushed by the weight of living up to expectations, because performers tend to be people-pleasers. 41:45 Hey, You're not a professional in the field they are requesting your help in, you're not who they should be coming to. Its sad they feel safer with you than a professional though. 42:15 Kindness is a decision to do good and withhold evil. Everyone is everything at once, and we do what we can to only let out the parts we wish to give the world. 43:00 That is symptomatic of the many Americans having more interaction with publicly platformed people than peers or parents these days. Any attention becomes desired attention when no attention is the alternative. The frantic need for connection with others leads to groups, the shared pain of a group leads to action. When pain is felt and ignored long enough, of course bad things spill out from us when we cant hold ourselves back from defending ourselves, because we have no choice. Self preservation is not completely voluntary. 43:32 Same for me, all covid. Healthcare papers and Rolling papers on my end, lol. We benefit from your creativity. 43:50 "I made it! ... Oh no." 44:40 The human brain couldn't evolve as fast as our ability to make groups and communicate. "Humie Brain not meant to talk to this many other brains at once" in my opinion, lol. Ancient humans chilled out in caves hibernating through the ice age up in the northlands after separating from our shared ancestors in Africa, lol. I know there's introversion in my blood, man. Some survival things get imprinted by massive multiple thousand year long events on earth, and group closeness is definitely a survival tendency in a time when personal space was death. Those connections are painful to lose, and we gain and lose connections so quickly these days, as a species, that we get desensitized at best, and completely contemptuous at worst. 45:15 Omg, I am so, so sorry. Lol. 45:50 When connections on the surface level become so numbed in response, any connection on a level that is neglected generates massive response if that neglect is systemic. 46:10 You were being validated capitalistically as something worth making money, and that... Rough, dude... I'm glad you were able to monetize your asset of self, but damn... You've got more to say and do than what stories got told. You're good at discussion, engaging, and honestly, I've never posted a comment like this in my life. This is a good video. 47:05 I think this is a response to being punished for something for so long leaving a mark of identity on a society. Again. As usual. Ugh.. Dangit, humans. History is so traumatic, man. 47:45 Another case of looking for therapy from the masses instead of a therapist. 51:15 A seven year old shouldnt have to know what any of that even means. Goddamnit. 53:15 I cant imagine how terrible being a black genius is as a kid... I'm a white guy and I wasn't ready to emotionally process the fact racism existed at all, let alone have it pointed at me. I was traumatized by helplessness to assist, not the existential dread of an eternal state of hostility. Figuring that out for yourself early, before your parents/guardians think you'd realize it and discuss it with emotional stability in hand, little kids go on spirals of cascading realizations that can paralyze them. Damnit. I'm grateful that you guys are smart, but I'm so fkin sorry for what that means. 55:45 Until we realize colors are cosmetic, we'll get hung up on it. Humans are humans. 5000 years is not enough time to change enough to be any meaningful amount of different. Matter of fact, most life forms on earth have a lot in common in behavior. Eat, move, make more, etc. We avoid pain, we go to goodness, and I'm glad to find this channel. Dang. You got a sub here. I'm gonna watch your other stuff now, man. 56:40 Always, people ignore the content for the cosmetic. 58:05 I cant even say how sad that makes me to know you're right about almost everyone in power. "we need to make them better" is the best they can come up with, and "make them more like us" is the only thing they think to use. -.- I'm sorry I get to stop feeling like this sometimes, and am able to forget an issue that is not attacking me. I'm sorry that the lies are so thick and the plates are so full and the fridges are so empty making everyone panic and focus on themselves out of necessity. I'm blessed to have the emotional energy to feel empathy, and god... I hate when I run out. To have that be my constant? Man... 59:00 I'm so sorry you are seen as "Special" by being intelligent. People need to get over the "starting stats" they get in life and look more at what people do with them. Thank you for using all your pain and charisma to speak out, guys. This one was probably tiring for you, there were a lot of heavy frustrating topics. Hope the rest was good after that filming, and I'm glad to get to watch it.

So together you like oh that's a group of black dudes, that little brotha with the spikes on his jacket has a mohawk. Carrying kitchen knives and shit. The way you carry yourself is everything when you're not from there but have to live there. Thank you for profit college for placing a blue collar country boy in the hood for student housing. Sarcasm aside, a lot of people were manipulated by that damn school. Now at thirty-eight years of age I'm happily married, work a decent job. I'm a Deathrocker/Goth, back in the scene after dabbling in Punk and hip-hop over the years. I basically live a chill life going to shows and just spending time with family. I just want to dance to darkwave and have a couple drinks. No drama. Living back in my home state not in Chicago anymore. Spiritually, I'm a witch and a pagan. Only one in my family probably. My ex girlfriend who I have a son with is white. My wife is white. When you are into interests that have more white women than really any other race you end up with a white woman. Finding an alternative black woman or woman of color was just hard as hell before Gen Z brought more representation. Also I like all races of women so it's not a preference thing. Just never had anyone in my circles show interest outside of when I was a young hood mf lol. Anyway, it's nice to see this discussion. Trying to be a better person and fight for equality.
