I grew up in the church and was baptized when I was 11. As I grew older I doubted that I had really done it for the right reasons and it tortured me for YEARS, whether I was really saved or not, because of the state of my heart at the time. I was baptized “again” when I was 23, and now I’m positive that my heart was in the right place. If you have a similar story, stop torturing yourself and be baptized “again”, be SURE that you have an obedient heart when you do it! If you doubt like I did, I obviously came to the conclusion that I was not saved because of that. You only need to be baptized once, but make sure it was right! Take that redo if you feel like you need it 😅

I was thinking about the scriptures talking about the kingdom of God being like a fisherman dragging a net full of good & bad fish & the bad are thrown away. Can you also ask a fisherman WHAT EXACTLY IS THROWN BACK? I heard it's the immature that didn't grow, the damaged ones, ones that aren't profitable etc. Can you get more details on what's cast away rather than kept??

“Calling on the name of the Lord” is just that. Calling(with your mouth) on the name of the Lord - usually seen in combination with an act of obedience. In the OT it was usually (sacrifice + the name YHWH, or whatever God was being invoked). 1 Kings 18:24 24 And *call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD:* and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken. 1 Kings 18:26 26 And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, *and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, SAYING, O BAAL, hear us.* But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made. 1 Kings 18:36-37 36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, *and SAID, LORD* God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word. 37 *Hear me, O LORD, hear me,* that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. Elijah as well as the false prophets CALLED upon(invoked by saying) the NAME of their respective GOD. In the NT it is (baptism + the name of the Lord Jesus Christ). Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and *be baptized every one of you in (ἐπὶ) the name of Jesus Christ* for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 8:12; 16 12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, *and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.* 16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only *they were baptized in(εἰς) the name of the Lord Jesus.)* Acts 15:17 17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, *upon whom my name is called,* saith the Lord, who doeth all these things. Acts 22:16 16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and *be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.* - Acts 2:36 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, *that God hath made that same Jesus,* whom ye have crucified, *both Lord and Christ.* I can understand defending against the misunderstanding that: “calling on the name of the Lord” ONLY means to call, absent the prescribed obedience(baptism). BUT, to say that the obedience(baptism) itself IS the “calling on the name” is error as well - discounting the actual NAME of Jesus as part of our baptismal obedience. Acts 4:12 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

@TheEmptyeye - Have you considered the possibility that “in the name of” simply means “by the authority of?” As in “Stop in the name of the law!” That seems to be the idea of that phrase in the Bible, and not so much an indication of words that are required to be spoken aloud at baptism. I’ve heard squabbles between different groups about whether one should say “in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit” at baptism, (Matthew 28:19), or just “in the name of Jesus” (as the apostles said in Acts 2:38; 10:48; 19:5). If we take the phrase as something that the administrator of the baptism or the one being baptized is required to speak audibly in order for the baptism to be scriptural, then the detractors of Christianity could (and do) point to the differences in what Jesus said to do in Matthew 28:17, and the phrase the apostles used. They could then claim it’s a contradiction that discredits the scriptures. Now, to avoid that problem, we could go with the meaning that would harmonize the phrase Jesus spoke with the one the apostles spoke, and know that they have the same meaning and, therefore, do not contradict each other because both simply mean that the baptism is being done by the authority of Jesus, which would also include the authority of the Father and the Spirit since they are all God, and since Jesus said to the Father “Thine is Mine and Mine is Thine” (John 17:10). He also said in John 14:25 that the Spirit was sent in His name, so anything done in the name of Jesus is also done in the name (by the authority of) the Father and the Spirit. The only thing the Bible instructs us to speak with our mouths in regard to Jesus when we are seeking salvation, is our confession that He is the son of God (Romans 10:9-10), which in we should always ask the repentant believer to confess before he or she is immersed. That being said, I have never seen a baptism where the one administering the baptism didn’t take the opportunity to tell everyone present that he was baptizing the person “in the name of” (by the authority of) Jesus - or in some instances they have said “in the name of the Father, the son, and the Holy Spirit.” Saying either would be scriptural, but so would saying nothing (which would seem awkward, but would not be incorrect). The emphasis is on the intention of what is being done and not on what is being said.

@@brettcarter6189 to your question, yes. But when read in the original language the phrase when used concerning baptism is actually: “{ἐπὶ - upon} the name of Jesus Christ” (Acts 2:38) - “{εἰς - into} the name of the F/S/HG” (Matt:28:19) Note: name is singular. “{εἰς - into} the name of the Lord Jesus” (Acts 8:16; 19:5) - The only time it is used as “in the name of” meaning “in the authority of” regarding baptism is: “{ἐν - in} the name of the Lord” (Acts 10:48) - Using your example, If I say to you: “Stop ‘upon’ the name of the law” or “Stop ‘into’ the name of the law” you can see that the phase makes no sense and has no real meaning for that type of context. And even if we were to go that route and say that “name doesn’t mean name”👀 but “name actually means authority”, the question is: Who has ALL authority? (Matt 28:18)

Seems that you are placing a requirement on a baptizer that the Lord has not placed on the baptizer. Maybe you aren’t. Are you saying if the baptizer doesn’t say the name “Jesus” then the person has to go get baptized over and over again until the baptizer says the name Jesus? I don’t think a person’s salvation depends on any other human being. The individual desiring salvation needs to obey God. That is be baptized for the remission of sins in the name of Jesus meaning the way the Lord has commanded. Immersion in water for the remission of sins.

@@Leelee452 I appreciate your well articulated comment. My response is somewhat nuanced and hard to explain fully in comment section. In simple terms, the answer is determined by how much importance is there in: 1) the name of Jesus. 2) the examples of salvation shown in the Bible. It’s not just about the baptizer “saying the name Jesus” but it is also about having the true authority to operate “in His name” which comes from truly being “in Him - in His name”. In Acts 19:13-17 we see people trying to use the name of Jesus but weren’t actually “in Him” to have any power in that name. Acts 19:13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them *to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.* 14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. 15 *And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?* 16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. 17 And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and *the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.* We also see in Acts, that those who DID have authority to operate in His name, verbally called on His name when operating by His authority: Acts 3:6 *Then Peter said,* Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: *In the name of Jesus Christ* of Nazareth rise up and walk. Acts 16:18 And this did she many days. But *Paul, being grieved, turned and said* to the spirit, I command thee *in the name of Jesus Christ* to come out of her. And he came out the same hour. (forgiveness of sins is just as much a “miracle” as healing or casting out demons) - In your comment you said, “I don't think a person's salvation depends on any other human being.” I disagree. Even the very first step of salvation which is ‘hearing the gospel’ depends on another person. If the one preaching Jesus doesn’t preach salvation correctly how can you be saved? Rom 10:14 *How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?* Acts 8:30-31; 35 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, *Understandest thou what thou readest?* 31 And he said, *How can I, except some man should guide me?* And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. 35 *Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.* So just like ‘another person’ is necessary to preach correctly the gospel, ‘another person’ is necessary when someone wants to properly obey the gospel as well. (1 Cor 3:8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one..) Sorry for the along reply. It would be easier to explain if we were verbally communicating.

I guess we should change Jehoshua’s name since Yahweh is Gods new name? The first part of the name uses Gods name and it is also where we get Jesus (Greek) which means the same Jehovah saves! Why aren’t all the critical scholars telling us that the vowel points in Jehoshua’s name are from Adonai and they are made up?

Checked all the comments..no one answered the question. Lord means Love... but there are two of that as L or De... One lord is good and evil [F] that wed [L] and dressed as Lord and the other Lord is Laws faith and Love as the "Lord Jesus Christ" are those who resurrect back to god as De. Last verse 21 goes to chap. 22 [Heaven ] GOD is a sound god as Go De... [go and return] But the Lord as false love as good and evil mixed is counted as evil [pale horse] because the next time of six [Moses] are those as good at both sides saved next time when the first shall be the last is Lord Jesus at verse 20 going to chap. 21 as a new earth begins the second coming of faith at Ex O De US.

I find it amazing that this channel says that you want to explain what the Bible really says about the various doctrines found in it but then you go and call the name of God Yahweh and say it’s his personal name. I say prove it! Show us any evidence that we have that Gods name is Yahweh. This lie and has been vomited for years on Christians and now when you go to many of the new age bibles you find it everywhere. I thought the Hebrew says that Yehovah is the name of God. For hundreds of years in the English language translations it was but now the new age church has told us no, no, no Yahweh is his name and they got that from Wilhelm Gesenius who commented that it was a possible translation of the name but never definitively. So who is this KZbinr who speaks words without knowledge? Again prove it by truly digging deep and understanding the history of the name and stop blaspheming God by calling his a false name.

Aaron wrong again friend. Your founders did in fact make up the 5 steps that are not Scriptural.. - we have the dates and Names .. And They broke many Biblical Bible verses to even come up with their 5 steps. - I would love to prove this with y'all right here . - there was a change in Acts that Jesus did Himself that Campbell and Stone thought they could store Johns Baptism but failed greatly.. - let's talk about it .
