since childhood, i didn't knew exactly what i wanted, but i always expressed talent for arts in general, cooking, drawing, playing instrument's, technology. and by the end of ninth grade i had to decide what area i was going to choose,(my school does not offer much choice), and everyone told me , even my art teacher, tatiana choose art's it's your passion(funny thing im a lefty and people find it funny), but there was a challenge, the school not always opens art course, because they think, indirectly, that its like a waste of time and if no more than 15 students chooses it will not open, so we did a signing petition, and even than it didn't open, so i chose as a "plan B" economy, now im on eleventh grade and i was two years without drawing, and i noticed that i felt a bit empty, so one day i decided to start drawing again by myself no classes and its still my passion still what i want to do with life, my mom believes in me , but my dad thinks it should only be my hobby and that its not a "serious" job , but the world has changed we should follow our dreams, harsh times will come we will fall but than we will rise and keep battling, they want me to have a serious job, but i wont be happy, "we work to live, we dont live to work" so our job should be something we like we find interest in, and i believe that we should all have the opportunity to follow our dreams.

Tati Milena Omg I'm actually in the same situation as you!I'm now in the vocational school of economics and I miss the drawing!In class we had a marketing project and I designed everything and do all the creative stuff.That also reminds me of my dream to become a fashion designer since the 6th grade.I really wanna do that but I'm scared about failing and the loss of money...I'm thinking about studying fashion marketing to get the knowledge and a stable job and then I will study again as a fashion designer!But actually I'm not confident about it...
@scotchbonnie41227 жыл бұрын
Mimi Vu honestly same I'm starting a vocational school for digital media and broadcast because I love film but I also dont feel confident mostly because I dont feel like I'll be good enough. I'm teaching myself how to sew and my strongest skill is drawing and I really enjoy it but fashion and the arts in general is so competitive I just don't know if I'm good enough to hold out in my own its all a very scary thought
@mimivu55817 жыл бұрын
HøwAbøutNø ? yeah it's a scary and vague way.I can fully understand you...But then I remember a dream I had when my deceased grandma said I should do something with passion.And my passion is to create something! So yeah,it's okay to be insecure but have courage in yourself.Instead of thinking about others,always remember the reason why you choose that way.Now I will try studying fashion design and try to break all the scary dark walls in front of me.Right now I'm not skilled but at least I wanna try and won't regret.And if I might fail I won't make excuses for doing the things I love.You too should choose what you want.I wish you luck and success for everything you want to do in your life.:)

And for those who say they don’t know how to draw, I want y’all to know that even though your drawings may not be as good as others, it’s really the message that matters. At least that what I tell myself and so with that I’m able to manipulate it and turn it into motivation. There is a ton of research, labor and love that goes into every single piece prior to production. The type of stitch, hidden or to be seen, etc. Many ideas come in the middle of the night so keep a pencil and pad next to the bed. Start by making simple pieces. Like get an old shirt and draw on it with markers. Once you start to do this people would want some of your works , so you can start selling or they can give you clothing and you do requests for them. That's how I started and now I have a mini business in my town. Sure it's small but I'm known around here. :) Once you have enough money now you can start with original pieces.

I'm currently in 7th grade and I'm stressing about the top three high schools I wanna go to, New world school of arts, DASH or law enforcement memorial high school. Something I worried about is that, I also love theater, and playing guitar and sing and I've dreamed about being a police officer and future detective since I was like? 9 or 10 but, drawing has always seem to be my passion, I auditioned to be in the magnet art program without my understanding when I was in 5th grade, and ever since then its been amazing but the one thing I was stressing about was if one day I get into NWSA and pass visual arts. . what do I do after? But when I first saw this video and saw your dresses and everything there was just a happy filling in my heart. I'm hoping by the end of my 8th grade year, after fulfilling my experience between my 3rd year of 2-D/3-D magnet art, 1st year of theater, and 2nd year of Guitar ill be able to decided, which I wan't to be my life choice and which I just want to be strong hobbies I want to do in my life.

It’s my ultimate dream to be a fashion designer... still in a process of drawing things out...😭💝

I’ve wanted to be a fashion designer since I was like 4, I’ve always loved design and while I love digital design I think fashion is something that I would never get bored or upset doing. Videos like this are really helping me choose what school to go to. I’m starting high school and I’m very lucky to get a choice of going to my small town high school or go to an amazing charter school that will give me many more opportunities. I’m having a hard time choosing because I don’t know if I want the normal high school experience with dances, band, pep rallies and stuff or if I was to do something that will make me happy in the long run

@andreas_adventures8 жыл бұрын
Don't you have a portfolio class?
@Huannia7 жыл бұрын
Shivani Gowda Start with finding a concept and plan your project. Then go with basic research on chosen concept, including information on your concept, existing work by other (historical or contemporary) designers on similar themes/concepts (style, techniques and colours used), and some research on the desired output itself. Analyse the research and provide your own reflection on what would benefit your work and what may not, or what could bring originality etc to it. Then you can set out your project brief - its aim and numerous objectives, any budget, time schedule, any restrictions... afterwards, show your brainstorming process (can be purely written mindmap or filled with small sketches). Go on with idea sketching (but develop nothing at this point) while making references to your research. Then you can start designing possible outfits and accessories from your sketches (everything still on paper). Now that you are sure about your designs, you can start developing them (buying fabrics and comparing using samples, draping them on the mannequin/dummy and taking photos which you will include as supporting proof in your portfolio). It's a lot of trial-and-error at this stage but it shows that you always strive for improvement. At the end, state your choices for your fashion collection/project with proper justification and support, then finalise everything (those which best represent your concept). You can start realizing your work! Add photos again + explanation for each. Afterwards, evaluate/review the outcome. Conclude on what you have accomplished and learnt (maybe discovered hidden aspects of a culture, exploring and experimenting... wanted to surprise your audience, or to throw them on a nostalgia trip etc. Depends.) Voilà! Please let me know if this was helpful !

I’m always so intrigued with fashion, and thought that it was easy. But after I tried sewing myself, damn it was really hard, especially picturing how the pattern would join together and etc. however, it is very fun and would recommend everyone to learn it even the most simple one.

I just found out that I passed the exam to study in a tecnical high school here in Brazil (where we have subjects from a regular school with tecnical classes from the profession you wanna follow in your future) and I am going to do clothing modeling, wich is the begining for fashion design on university! I am so excited! Finally following my dreams.
