If I can make a suggestion, its a pain for some but if it is your truck and trailer it is great. What we have on our road trains, is one hose on the truck and one on the trailer. When we unhook we then loop the hose back on the respective vehicle, I.e trucks hole supply is connect to the return. The biggest reason we switched to that was to keep the smoo out of the hose ends. Should also make it easy to keep the hose tidy on that stainless steel deck plate when you make it. Looking forward to the next video

Very rarely on equipment have I seen suction filters - normally just a steel mesh suction strainer in the tank itself. Full flow return filters are most common and occasionally full flow, full pressure filters on pump outlet side. Pump cavitation due to suction side restrictions is far bigger problem then the odd little bit of garbage in the tank.
@NBSV1
@NBSV1 Жыл бұрын
Yep. Filter on the return so the pressure it takes to go through the filter doesn’t harm the pump. They’ll generally circulate enough fluid it all gets filtered pretty regularly. And, it’s more likely you’ll get junk in the system from connecting the hoses which would come in through the return side.
@deezelfairy
@deezelfairy Жыл бұрын
@@NBSV1 Exactly and people forget the biggest source of contamination for hydraulic system isn't external things like dirt ect, it's metal particles from wear in the system components hence again why the return filter is the best option, catching it all before it gets into the tank.

Build a box with a door on it for your hydraulic lines to go in, then they can stay hidden and long so you don't need to unhook them when you want to jack knife the trailer.

You know that cold start just had me saying “How dare you” in Pegs voice, twas glorious and love seeing this beauty come so far. DeBoss Garage is the best quality content on KZbin in my opinion hands down. Great people running a great channel with great friends to boot from Phil to V&R and the others who’ve made appearances over the years. You helped me establish confidence as a mechanic long ago and still inspire me. This channel is literally the dream. Miss Jack Black though.

I love your "Princess Auto" adjustable that does both Metric and Imperial, but I have to ask for those that dont know, does it also do Left hand threads?😆😆😆 I love the progress on the rig and the fact it is actually being used for its purpose. Will we ever see It doing an "Ice Road Truckers" or is that a logistical imposibility?

For your cab tilt hydraulics get a 12v power pack like you would find on a dump trailer, seen a few set up like that and they work slick.

Most pto units recommend a bracket to support the hydraulic pump if it weights over a certain amount also most recommend regulated air for the pto switch 60 to 80 psi in my experience, great video love the truck.

Nice! When you have a setup like this and have any kind of electric low pressure pump, I'd fill it through the return line too, keeps your tank clean for sure. When you've got hydraulics you need to rely on like steering etc. , keep in mind you start checking for rubbing, look drought-cracks and sweating after 8 years or so, officially hoses often last 5 years.

I have found when operating a trailer with hydraulics that it is best to have the truck revving at between 900 and 1000 RPM, have fun with it, one of the most useful additions to any truck, leaves you open to so many opportunities.

If you make a couple of catch loops out of 1/2" flat bar and put one near box and one half way towards axle....if driveshaft lets go it will catch it and hopefully stop the destruction caused by drive shaft on its death flaping 👌

I switch between two different floats, belly dumps and a couple other trailers (yes what a pain), trust me, the filter is a very good idea because no matter what I get dirty couplers. I used a walking floor trailer before and ran that sucker at 1850 rpm with no problems with large loads, wet kits are cool…until you blow a hose…..

My work rig and trailer weigh in at 20500 to 22000kg empty. Factory Kenworth wet kits have a 2 filter system mounted on the frame with the tank behind the cab. If the DOT ever pull u over and any hose is touching the deck plate it's a Instant ticket of almost $400 u can't have anything rubbing or touching the deck plate when u are turning or hauling the trailer.

best practice design of a hydraulic oil return line to tank is to have it lower than the level of the oil to reduce the aeration of the hydraulic oil.

You need nylon sock and rubber pads to prevent rubbing of lines maybe a bit of fire sleeve for the plumbing near the exhaust... think about it Hot exhaust pipe, hot/warm oil under pressure spraying on hot exhaust... Thermal event boom I used the nylon sock on anything that was near anythign will rub or contact Yes that hose wil beat its way thrhough your steel and or aluminum tank before it is cut Ask me how I know I recommend Parker haniford I know Im a snob but its the best shit out there

We have a landoll like that over here in the uk, it’s a great trailer but can catch out the inexperienced. Have lifted the units wheels off the ground before now and also had the bed drop quicker than expected with a heavy load once. Good idea to keep an eye on the rear bar as they can drag and snap mounts also the bag mounts on the axles can fatigue on the older ones
