Absolutely agree!!! In Alps, there are so many steep roads...both directions, it'd be nice to utilise brakes and motor.

try this design.. i guarantee you.. 😬 Equipments *charge controller depends on the battery *conversion kit that have regenerative breaking. *wires Steps.. *assemble first *after assemble tap a wire in the connection between the motor and the ebike controller. *connect the wire in the battery charge controller. *connect the charge controller into battery..

I have a RadCity and I get at least 50% more distance out of a charge using regenerative braking. I doubt if this fellow has any electronic, electrical or Scientific training.

While Zehus's tech is slightly better than average, you still don't really get that much regen out of it without working really hard.

NYCeWheels it depends on the type of riding you do. My track the cycling root, I use 40% and recharge 35% going up hill and then down hill, so don't need to charge. Probably 1 every 3 months, due to the backpedal future. Cheers

That's awesome! This video is in reference to the bike we carry (Stromer/Bionx), where regen isn't a highly focused feature, and the batteries are so large that the effect is very small. Zehus's system has regen as more of a focus in their design, and having a smaller battery means the regen will have a more noticeable effect.

there is nothing in here to show us anything. You are just saying " it doesn't work" so I have to ask google more. You should do some kind of measurement experiment. Googles knowledge graph says regenerative braking in practice on a tesla is 70 perfect effiient, so you could have started with that. Google is telling me it ranges from 10 to 70 percent. A research paper is taking about the shape of the signal from BLDC motor, and its up to the controller. The losses that contribute to 30% loss are on top of methodology or signal processing, more like friction or physical. So it would be helpful to make a video by taknig a bike , turning it upside down and measuring voltage that appears when you turn the wheel. Also we might have to turn the trottle, turn on the regenerative braking , each controller has swithces for that we dont konw how its hooked up , and each ebike is different. Seems like a very good opportunite in an ebike, more so thatn in a care, and its underserved.

Interesting to see all the keyboard warriors defending regen braking on bikes. It still sucks and isn't worth having on a bicycle 3 years after this video was made. From a marketing perspective, this video is simple and to the point. My grandma buying a bike doesn;t need to know the technical aspects, just if it works or not.
