What Does Reload Mean for Persona 6?

Persona 3 Reload is right around the corner so we decided to throw this idea out into the ether and see what people think. Will the features and mechanics in Reload give Persona fans a better idea of what to expect from the eventual Persona 6 release? Maybe? And that's the video!

Persona 3 FES was my first serious attempt at playing a Megaten title, back when I was 15 and in tenth grade! Now I'm about to turn 23, I can't express how happy and grateful I am of younger me not trying to summon his persona irl Just like the SEES members, I chose life and that alone made me able to live through so many wonderful memories, both happy and sad, yet memorable all the same, create bonds, enjoy my life and last but not least: Being able to play P3 Reload, Project Re Fantasy and eventually Persona 6

I think that Metaphor ReFantazio will be more important than P3R to get a better understanding for what to expect in Persona 6. When it comes to remaking any game the developers are shackled in one way or another by the original game. They can't change too much other wise it might as well be a different game. That is why I think ReFantazio will be more important to understands Atlus' plans moving forward. ReFantazio has no shackles and it's completely it's own thing while sharing similarities in terms of genre with P3-P5.

That's true, but the thing with that is the different development teams working on the games. Metaphor is Studio Zero, and presumably Persona 6 is P-Studio, which is working on Persona 3 Reload. There could still be some significant crossover though I suppose. We'll just have to see one way or the other

I know most fans don't want it (or at least don't care much about it), but I would like to see the protagonist voice more lines. You get to click on how you want him to comment or respond to things, but he just waves his hands around & nods. We're all used to it, but it feels a bit silly when everyone else has so much personality. I don't buy the idea that being silent helps the player be a self-insert. Pretty much all power fantasy/harem isekai MC's are self-inserts too, yet they don't just walk around & silently point/nod at everything 😅 It throws me off when you see Persona anime or other media, and the MC finally talks. I'm not asking for them to be a chatty Cathy & never shut up like Morgana, just voice a handful of lines here & there in cutscenes or other key events.

@@TinMaxx Definitely and same here. Also, Sojiro and Ryuji are two of my favourite characters in Persona 5. Because I identify with them heavily. I was Ryuji in my teens and early 20s. Once I hit late 20s and early 30s I started to be a lot more like Sojiro.

FES was my first Persona game and cemented me as a life-long fan. That being said, I’m not too sad to hear The Answer and FemC aren’t included right now. What I will actually care about is if those features are sold in a next-Gen re-release 2 years later and not offered as DLC packs.

I have already pre ordered the game, i am so hyped for its release date. As a massive Persona 5 fan, i sm itching for something new. It looks set to surpass Persona 5 in many regards, including its use of Unreal Engine 5, among other things It is surreal how Microsoft/Xbox has the exclusive marketing rights for the game, which is a 180 from Persona 5, which was a PlayStation exclusive for the longest time

I am torn on whether I should preorder P3R or just finish FES. There are rumors that The Answer will become DLC, so waiting for the Royal treatment will probably be a better shot.

I think it depends on how fsr in FES you are. As someone who's played FES and Portable, Reload looks like a unique new experience, but FES is also still great and probably worth finishing. -Tin

What I'm hoping for P6 is probably controversial but I want a fully voiced and fleshed out protagonist. If not that then way more customization for them, their gender and hair options at the minimum. It feels like Atlus wants to create a full character but I need to somehow connect as the mc? Like, that's kinda hard for me as a girlloser with no social skills at all. I've only ever played P3P as FeMC, I enjoy playing girls much more when given the option but the remake not containing at the least all the original contents makes it feel incomplete to me. They could make the Answer exclude to the male route so there'd still be a reason to do that side. I doubt that they'll add FeMC since they ported Portable to modern systems but I can only pray the community yells loud enough like the DMC community did when they got Vergil added into DMC5.

I actually agree with you about the protagonist. I'm not one for self-inserting myself in games and all the Persona Protagonist end up with pretty fully realized personalities eventually anyway, especially in the spinoffs and animes. The weird moments where characters say "that guy" instead of his name always take me out of the moment lol -Tin

@@TinMaxx It's always pretty awkward too when the subtitles will say you're character name but then the voice actors just kinda stop talking before it ends. At the minimum P5 has 'Joker' as a name but that only works for palace sides.

Atlus should treat Persona 1 and 2 a bit differently considering their tone being much diff from P3 onward. Would be interesting to see them revamp the grittier and grayish look of the first 2 Persona games.

tl;dr because I wrote a fucking essay lmao From P6 I hope to see any of these things: -Voiced MC with a canon name -Option to select at least some clothes -Other characters acknowledge the MC's relationship with their partner -Female MC and at least some same-sex romance options I have a long ass list of things I'd like to see from Persona 6, most are unreasonable considering that Atlus doesn't seem to particularly enjoy making drastic changes to their games' formula, but who knows, maybe they'll surprise me this time? They struck gold with P5 and they're really taking their time with P6 because after the huge success of 5 they want to make an even bigger step forward. If I had to list the most important stuff it would be: -An actually voiced protagonist. I think that having a protagonist that speaks more than 5 lines of dialogue is an objective improvement in a game that clearly wants me to care about the social relationship of the main character. I'm not asking for all the possible dialogue options to be voiced, I simply want, each now and then, for the main character to interject in the conversation and say at least something even if it's just a simple "Yeah" or "All right". Being completely silent, all the time, while everyone around you speaks normally just feels weird -The main character should have a canon name that can be actually spoken by other characters. I don't know about you, but it's really annoying when characters talk about the MC but they can't say their name, but the subtitles still clearly show your character's name. And it's even worse hearing the protagonist's friends call him "dude" or "this guy" or "leader" a thousand times. Atlus had to pick "canon" names for the manga/anime adaptations of previous Persona games. Just do the same with P6 but make it canon for the game too, is it that hard? -Ways to customize out character a bit more. This is a pretty reasonable one I think. I'm not asking to completely edit my character from scratch, that would make pre-rendered cutscenes impossible. Just let me pick my casual clothes please? The game already has a bunch of different outfits for school/tartarus/winter/summer/etc... why not let me choose how to dress after school? I'm not asking for millions of clothes, but at least let me select among 8-10 types of clothes? Maybe if you reach rank 10 with a social link have your friend gift you a piece of clothing and if you use that item you get a bonus or something? Maybe even have some character have different reactions/dialogue depending on how you dress? Like if you max out a social link and go on a date with your partner they might compliment you if they like your clothes or something? -Speaking of social links and dating, it's be nice to have some small lines of banter during gameplay that acknowledge your relationships? Like, in Persona 5 it'd be funny to hear the other Phantom Thieves make jokes about Ren and Makoto/Ann/Haru/etc... after they start dating, or something like that -The final dream would be to have both a male and female main characters like they did in P3P. Of course having two characters means double the work, so this would make any other improvement to the game's formula also require more work 9 times out of 10 (some stuff could work for both main characters with no added work I guess). They wouldn't have to create exclusive social links for the second character, that would allow them to re-use some dialogues. Take P5 for example. Add a female main character, add the romance options for all the boys, then allow both main characters to romance everyone (some alterations to the dialogue is needed here and there of course). There, done, you didn't "waste" any work because there isn't a single romance option that is exclusive to one main character and at the same time you get points for lgbt inclusivity, there we go, everybody wins. I would love to see any of these changes happen in Persona 6, I realize that ALL of these things can't happen at the same time (or can they?) but I think it would be a great improvement to see even a single one of these things added. Finger's crossed I guess

Hope they do a remake for P4 it's the only one that isn't looking like the other two of the big 3. P3R, and P5R, fit they have the same style. P4 feels out of place, especially with its 2008 graphics. Everything else in Big 3 got that 2020s look now.

0:27 no, it didn’t. 0:33 fine but I disagreed. Comparing resident evil two remake. To This, game it’s like night and day. This game give you a complete experience with nothing gone. Only two things are gone. Only the answer, and the female protagonist are gone. Those don’t affect the story in a core way. A lot of people didn’t even really like the answering when it came out anyway. But yeah, I think resident evil two remake is hot garbage. If people didn’t praise. Rush laziness. Maybe we would’ve got a better third remake. And they would’ve delayed. Making it better

Nothing about Resident Evil 2 Remake seems rushed to me. They took the original game and modernized it, and the final product was great. RE2R was my first RE game, so I'm a little biased. RE3R was definitely rush though and could have benefitted from not cutting so much. -Tin

@@TinMaxx so before I misunderstand. Are you saying you never played the original. A number of things makes this game lazy. I’ll go over a few. 1. Claire and Leon.. both only have one unique areas for each of their stories. And all face the same bosses. Regardless of scenarios. 2. Getting to the RPD is now way to easy. I don’t need my handheld. 3. Mr. X and the helicopter. Reasons for being there are now completely gone. They just seem very random without reason because they’re never explained. 3. Every character, cord personality is now gone. And replaced with them being about one thing. Leon can only be a police officer, he can’t be a hero anymore. He only cares about being a police officer. Ada, only cares about fashion. So for some reason she wears sunglasses indoors. Claire only cares about Sherry. And seems hyper obsessed with her. Because Annette. Now has to be a crappy mother . When she was fine, in the original . And that’s just to name a few things. To me, it’s a reimagined, not a remake. At best. Everything makes sense. Time placement wise. There was no reason to change it. Other than rushing and laziness. Extra difficulties does not make a remake. Keeping was there, from the originals. And improving what didn’t work. Makes a remake.
