well single core wise it is slightly better than a 32 Core Threadripper and since MC uses one core, this is one of the most Powerful CPU's to be used for the Java Game. Threadripper is not even the most powerful anyways, AMD make an even more powerful Beast which I forgot the name of sadly but yeah, it had 64 Cores WAY before Threadripper and is rumoured to get 128 soon.

The i9-11900k will ultimately retain its title as best single core performer. Have seen a few discussions on mods to better optimize core usage but from what I understand from the limited Minecraft docs I’ve read, that would be a bit of an undertaking. AMD though should have a competitor in boost to intel within the next few years if games don’t begin relying on more cores over a single core rapidly.

Alright, since there's a lot of technical comments on the setup I used for this, here's some details that I didn't add in the video as to not make it too long: I am aware that the GTX 970 I had at the time is a huge bottleneck, but from the tests I did, that doesn't seem to matter for Minecraft. Minecraft didn't even use half of the 970s potential power even at 256 chunks. I've done extensive testing and even borrowed a friend's 1080ti (part of why the video took so long, changing components back and forth), and there was not any significant difference in loading times or fps. I ended up giving back the 1080 and using my old GPU since it really didn't make a difference. The game is made out of blocks, it really doesn't require much graphical power, it's just heavy on the CPU and Ram. An RTX 2080 is on its way so I can compensate for the crazy CPU. (Couldn't find a 30 series, they're all out of stock here) The RAM I had allocated to Minecraft was 6GB, and that is because Java is not a programming language that likes using a ton of memory. Anything over those 6GB made NO difference, in fact, I've had more crashes when I allocated 10+ GB. Bedrock can make use of more memory because it is coded in C++ and well-optimized performance-wise, but it doesn't let you load chunks that would make your game lag. While it is true that the i9-9900x is not the most powerful CPU out there at the moment, since Minecraft only ever uses one core out of the CPU, the 32 cores of the Threadripper would have been useless. When overclocked, both the i9 and the Threadripper reach about 4.5 GHz on a single core, so there is virtually no difference for this test (edit: just kidding, I re-checked and I had the core that Minecraft was using at 5GHz for the test, which is even better than what the Threadripper can do on a single core). I feel like it wouldn't have been a wise investment to pay 2000$ for 32 cores and then only use one, considering the Threadripper isn't even intended for gaming. Also, I don't have any preference on PC part brands, I just went with what I thought gave me the most bang for my buck in this case, even if I realize I probably got it wrong anyway Whoever said that I should have used the Sodium mod for this... yep. You're actually right there, I wasn't even aware it was a thing! The mod is apparently relatively new and I'm happy to hear that something like that exists now! If the opportunity presents itself to push the limits of this test, I'll definitely keep that on my list! If it can make up for it just a little, for this test I was using Lunar Client, which through the various strenuous tests I've seen doubled my FPS Keep in mind that what you've seen on the video is not the first test I did. It took me quite some time to figure out what investments made sense and what was a useless expense. Honestly I might have screwed up some explanation even in this comment and might have gotten something wrong, that's entirely my bad, but overall I can say I'm quite satisfied with the results I managed to get. Maybe some adjustments would have lowered the 15 minutes wait for a frame at the end into 5 minutes, but hey, I did my best here >_> That's it! Thanks a lot for the support, you guys are awesome!

Well, CPU clocks are not everything. Even the Ryzen 5 5600X, which is on the low-end of the AMD Ryzen 5000 series, is able to beat the I9-10900K in single core performance. So clearly, I9-9900x lags behind the high-end AMD CPUs.

Edit: This was only meant to b a joke, it is most likely a problem with the specific device anyways. I know that not everyone had this problem, and I was not trying to imply that. It's main purpose is because of consoles, which can't run Java, but all phones, computers, and consoles could run C++, so they made Bedrock Edition and Legacy Console Edition for it. Honestly, I don't know why Markus Persson chose Java, which is a bad language to code such a large game in.

Bedrock edition has less features, less mods, less shaders and less optimization it's too boring and simplified. Plus you can play Java on phones using Pojavlauncher it's not that hard if you have at least an IQ of 100 you can learn to play it on mobile.

@@HyProDuxy MOST poowerfull cpu? I think that would be a threadripper 3990X it has 64 cores, 128Threads at 2.9Ghz base clock and up to 4.3Ghz. I think there isn't anything that the public knows of that is more powerfull. There is EPIC too but it has lower clocks because it's more efficient and then there is technically a 128 core from ampera but it doesn't have hyperthreading so ultimitly less powerfull then the 3990X. In conclusion from what I know the 3990X is the most powerful cpu on the market right now. This really only applies to number crunching, it is powerfull in that way but it's technically not "fast" like the Ryzen 5950X that is fast in games. SO like most cpu choices, depends on the workload. I hope that was detailed enough. and somewhat understandable.

Okay so 1.18.1 didnt work but 1.16.5 did. Couldn't set it to anything above 256 chunks as it had no physical effect on how many chunks were loaded. It remained a square. Got 26fps on a Xeon E5 2667v2 with EVGA 1070 FTW. -Xmx56G was used with 64GB of RAM total installed on an Asus R IV E.

So your extra cores don't matter because it doesn't use them, its only using one, so per core performance matters more here. Thats like saying 'the city added multiple routes to the high school so students can travel *faster*' when all the students live in one place that was already covered by the existing buses or trains, the extra routes are 'faster' in theroy, but if nobody uses them then it's pointless; the better idea would be to make the route the students live next to faster instead of adding more routes. More cores don't matter here, each core just needs to be faster.

If you were to play counter strike or whatever, higher single thread speed = more performance, but the dude in the video can barely run at 5 fps at times, it's just too much work for the cpu to handle, and more cores mean it could process more chunks at a time.
