Thank you, my friends cuss all the time, even my strong believer friends. I'm getting all the things I need for confronting them about it and this helps. God bless.

So what I'm taking from this is that the intent behind your words matters. Cussing somebody out in a mean-spirited manner is not the same as you and your friends clowning around with each other. You'll call your best friend the most unspeakable things to his face and then say "he's such a great guy" behind his back. Still not a great habit but what your intent is, who you are speaking to and what the setting is matters.

Well, wouldn't that mean that it may be important to use harsher words like F*** when your HEART feels strong amounts of pain or anger. If we are to let our words reflect what's in our heart, shouldn't we strive for honesty and swear when it's what we feel inside? There's no proper explanation I have heard for why Christians cannot tolerate a certain set of sounds.

Taking the Lord's name in vain is saying His name without a holy purpose. Do not equate it with foul language. "Holy is Thy name". Do not even utter it without reverence.

See I’ve been having this debate with someone wether or not it’s okay and my side is that any word can be made into a cuss word if you have bad intentions with it the word “Ass” was the word for donkey in the old days and now it’s typically used as an insult which is why we should be very careful of what words come out of our mouth but saying that just certain cuss words should never be used because they’re so bad and they go and say fake ones and all that doesn’t make the fake ones any better if they’re meant with bad intentions
@noreply3424 Жыл бұрын
How you go from “using his name in vain” to “watching what comes or your mouth” to not cursing?? The Bible tells you to watch your mouth but their are no specifics in what words you can and can’t say. Damn is a cursed word to some and not to others, plus our languages aren’t even all the same so there nothing that tells you that you cant sat b* sh* f* etc… the reality is that you should feel more powerful speaking without needing to fill the blanks with curse words. You shouldn’t need to curse for your message to be taken serious, you should work on what your lacking and realize less words is better and more powerful so there’s no need to curse. If people don’t hear you move on.

Calling someone “Terrible” and calling someone a B-word are the same based on the Word- you’re intentionally trying to put someone down, and cut them down with words, and it reveals your heart.
@codyguaraggi30977 ай бұрын
If someone's living in sin, we are to judge them, and hate their ways of sin, fortunately for Christians that speak the truth, those cause transgressions negativity will come back to that and those Christians, the gentle approach doesn't work with many.
@kingn8link6 ай бұрын
@@codyguaraggi3097 it's not gentle to "not" name call or insult someone. You can give tough love and be aggressive without verbal attacks. That's the world's way of doing things. Attack the sin, not the person Big difference between coaches that aggressively encourage a player to the right path, and coaches that rip into a players character, cut them down and call them names

I believe it's the intent. Like calling someone a b****** with the intent to hurt them, yeah that's wrong. But when you stub your toe and yell s***! There's no harmful intent behind that. Also, cuss words now are wayyyy different than what they were back then. For example, the word bastard was not a bad word back around the 1800s, but now it's seen as a bad word bc of how it's evolved. Just my opinion 😁

Taking God's name in vain isn't about cussing, it's about misrepresentation. Don't say what you're doing is of God when it isn't. To "take" in context of the scripture (original language if you will) it means "to bear" or "to carry". Don't profess to be of God when you're not. Doing that will lead people away from God. Just look at Muhammad, he took God's name in vain & now billions are deceived & won't come to Christ.
