Talking about science, telling the kids about some facts related to the moon, the sun, the space, etc. usually comes at the beginning of the journey before one reaches the point where more difficult pieces of information are delivered.
In this educational video, the facts which the kids are going to receive are related to the moon and they are there to tell the kids more about this thing that lights up their sky during the night.
The moon is the earth's only natural satellite, and a natural satellite is a space body that orbits a planet. The interesting thing about the moon is knowing about the fact that it orbits the earth every 27.3 days, which is one piece of information that people don't ever expect.
The strength of gravity on the moon is only about one fifth or 17 percent when compared to the strength of the gravity on the surface of the earth.
The interesting thing about the moon is that it is 4.5 billion years old! Yes! And it is 250,000 miles or 384,400 kilometers away from the earth. That's why people get astonished when they know about this long distance since the moon manages to light the sky at night in a perfect way as if it is very close to it or even part of it. In order to travel this distance, it will take 130 days if done by car (which is not an option but just to give you an idea about the whole thing), it takes 13 hours if travelling by rocket, and the best option is the light speed which only takes 1.52 seconds.
To know more facts about the moon, we also have to mention that the surface of the moon has many things on it, such as mountains, valleys, lava flows, dead volcanoes and craters. Scientists believe that the craters were formed around 3.5 to 4.5 billion years ago by meteors hitting the moon's surface.
One of the most interesting facts related to the moon is about the footprints which are left on the surface of the moon. These footprints which were left behind on the surface by the astronauts who traveled to the moon will remain visible for 10 million years, because there is not erosion on the moon! Yes, longer than the time these people will be living on earth!
When the sun is shining, the moon is 250 degree Fahrenheit which is very hot, but on the other side, when it is dark, the temperature is -280 degrees Fahrenheit which is very cold.
The moon could even affect the sea, which is one fact that people don't even believe. The moon actually creates the earth's tides; on the side of the earth that is closest to the moon, the moon's gravity pulls the water of the oceans up slightly, resulting in high tide.
The last important fact that kids should get informed with at this point is the fact that there are eight different moon phases, these phases include the new moon, the new crescent, the first quarter, the new gibbous, the full moon, the old gibbous, the last quarter and the old crescent.
When it comes to space, there are other important facts which the kids should know about, such as knowing about the solar system as a whole ( • Facts about the Solar ... ) and this will include knowing about the biggest planet in the solar system ( • What is the Biggest Pl... ), the hottest planet in the solar system ( • What is the Hottest Pl... ), the coldest planet ( • What is the Coldest Pl... ) and knowing more about the smallest planet that is found in this solar system as well ( • What is the Smallest P... ).
Kids always get excited when they know such facts about the space and thus we believe that these 10 facts which we have provided through this educational video and which are about the moon are important because they let those kids know more about that thing in the sky that lights up their sky and world at night and how it is formed or what are the different features that are related to it.
Did your kids enjoy watching this video? Was it helpful for them to know more about the moon? Enjoy watching this video about the moon facts along with your kids and we will be waiting for your feedback.
