What I took from this was that this candidate had a lot of smooth responses that work hard to sugarcoat standard GOP stances, diluting the extreme red flags within his party, to increase their appeal by gaslighting voters into believing they aren't so bad (or not as bad as the opposition). He's not really advocating for real change. In every instance, he finds a way to defend problematic behavior and advocates for the party leaders who he supposedly wants to change. Where are his standards? At the end of the day, he still justifies supporting anyone and everyone in his party, no matter how abhorrent some of their actions may be. Kari Lake. Donald Trump. My county supervisors dumped voting machine contracts based on information from hucksters until the Sec State and AG of California got on their case about it. Now we're paying for more. However, I have to pause and think if this is a genuine connection. He, a GOP party member who wishes to get elected into office in a couple of weeks, quite literally states that he's in the busiest part of the election cycle and that every minute counts. Which makes every minute he spends on this discussion a bit suspect. Is this a genuine connection with a person with opposing views that will give you a real and deep insight to the things you're curious about that you wouldn't be able to learn on your own? Or is this person using you and your channel as a marketing platform to advertise their ideas and their party in a positive light in order to achieve their goal of being elected? This is why I don't like discussing politics during the election cycle. I'd trust this more if it was after November and this guy didn't have possible votes to gain from this discussion.

I have to admit, however, your one downfall (like the majority of us liberals) is optimism and hope. We try to give everyone respect and a chance to voice their opinions. The issue with that, given the current political climate in our country, is giving a side that doesn't deserve that kindness and exposure an audience. I think if one side has proven to be malicious enough, they aren't entitled an audience. That doesn't mean they can't speak. Ofc they can. Ofc they can try to reach who they want as well. However, we probably shouldn't give them a platform that allows their roots to go deeper, you know? It's not entirely your fault. You are trying to do the correct and American thing. The issue, though, is the other side doesn't want to play by those same rules. They only care about the constitution and American principles when it fits their narrative. They will twist words, downplay all the bad stuff they can, gaslight, etc. Any means necessary. They have fundamentally made the decision to put their pary over the country. THAT is unacceptable, and we must call them out whenever we can. You are allowed to speak freely in this nation, but that doesn't mean people aren't allowed to call you out. That doesn't mean people have to listen to you. You are entitled to speak, not to others' ears.

@@faveology This concept of platforming is truly a slippery slope though. It really feels like too much of a meta-democracy strategy. It is true the internet has allowed bad ideas to fester and aggregate where they'd otherwise be sparse, but individually choosing to silence people is symbolically bad imo. In any case the gaslighting, downplaying, twisting words, etc is all gamification of politics and that's been around a lot longer and plenty of people on the left do it, and they have their own problems that alienates voters. Regardless of this speaker, I think we have to understand that the actual people that hold these opinions are generally not holding them in bad faith. What I mean is they believe they are doing what can make the world a better place in their mind. Sometimes it is rooted in ignorance and outright hostility, but speaking about people like they are a disease is not going to help.

@@iammrbeat I agree with that point, but how you're going about it doesn't really help at actually reaching out to these people. My case is this: a significant majority of the republican voter base sincerely believes that there is an ongoing crisis with illegal immigrants committing voter fraud widespread across the country, an occurrence which isn't happening, has never happened, and is prevented from ever happening by many safeguards in the voting system. They did not get this false conspiracy theory out of nowhere - they have been lied to repeatedly and deliberately by many individuals. They are lied to when they put on their talk radio stations on the way to work, when they listen to their conservative podcasts during works, when they get home and put on hours of fox news that repeats lie after lie after defamatory lie. One singular interaction, online or even in person, will never be enough to reach through that echo chamber and get them to face reality. One moment of truth can't compare to a bombardment of misinformation and lies coming from every direction in their life. Now try correcting them and informing them in every false, conspiratorial belief they hold, and you get to the true extent of the problem. Attempting to reach out to the more "sane" appearing parts of the GOP is perhaps noble, and maybe it reaches a few individuals on the farthest fringe, but it does nothing to address the broader problem of people believing in an entirely alternate reality. It does nothing to address the fact that this "sane" part will still defend and support the actions of their deceptive and conspiratorial contemporaries, will still vote for the harmful bills those contemporaries propose, and will still refuse to hold these contempories accountable for the harm they cause. I think if you really want to reach out to these people and succeed at doing so, it's necessary to keep in mind the following. They may be good people, yes, but good people can be taken advantage of, and otherwise good people can still do terrible things to innocent people when manipulated and misled. If you do not address the source of this misinformation, it will easily perpetuate itself and spread across the internet. We have consequences if you lie about the effectiveness of your medical product, if you lie about your tax returns, if you lie about what you did in a courthouse, so why are there no consequences for lying to so many millions of people each and every day? @@abbythefoxx9414 you don’t have to trust something for it to be objectively true. Kids shouldn’t be able to do any life changing things to themselves without their parents consent. Everyone has the free will to do what they want, even if I don’t think someone should go down a certain path in their life doesn't mean anything, you have the ability to do whatever you want with yourself, however we should also understand what we are doing to ourselves and how are actions affect us and children can’t decide that for themselves, you change as you mature and the things you desire change over time. I think drastically different then when I was a teenager then I do as an adult, which is why parents are responsible for major things that happen to a kid. Then I got a job working in a city/ county that was heavily Republican, heavily racist, very corrupt. Even though I did not live in the city I had some people from city government ask me with which party I was registered. For most of my 10 years there I refused to register. When I finally registered again (in a different job) I registered Independent. I favor no party. I support candidates regardless of party who seem to share or favor the same values as I do (or as closely aligned as I can find). If they lie about stuff they are off the list. If they espouse ideas/ideals that are contrary to mine - off the list. And if they support the ideas/ideals of someone I cannot support - I have a lot of thinking and praying to do. Trump voter here, I’m a firm believer that electing the right congress members is far more important than the president. I also think that many people take politics way too seriously and let it ruin relationships with their families and friends. Some people threaten to leave the country if trump wins, many celebrities threatened that in 2016 and guess what, they are all still here, why, because trump wasn’t the monster that they were led to believe he was, he’s just a man that they don’t agree with. Just like Kamala is just a person that I disagree with. And if Kamala wins, it’s not gonna depress me or send me into a fit of rage or inspire me to go destroy businesses and churches, no. I will simply go back to work the next day and carry on living like normal people do. My friend group is predominantly democrat and my family is a 50/50 split between the two parties but i love each and every one of them, because people are so much more than a decision they make every 4 years. I Wish the country would have listened to George Washington and avoided this party system we have now, I do believe most people are truly moderate and vote for both sides of the aisle.

Unfortunately, comparing Jan 6 to being less worse that Kamala discussing the possibility of price controls is a clear sign of why I can't trust anyone in the Republican party right now. I understand Ari views the general rhetoric to be the issue, but I don't see how anyone can genuinely make the comparison in good faith without very excessive bias that incentives them to overlook it. The fact the republican party can't resonate with the damage their party leader has and threatens to do is why I can't trust the politics of any individual republican right now, including Ari. At the very least, if I vote for a Democraft, I know they won't be pressured to remove, hamper or bar the rights for citizens votes to be counted and honored. Ignorance is one thing, but so many of these Trump supporters are willfully ignorant. I had a painful conversation with a Trump supporting friend recently, and she was totally ignorant of the many horrible things that Trump has done. I brought up so many of these things, showed her proof, she acknowledged many of them, nothing changed, she still supports Trump. I cannot and I will not vote for any candidate that endorses Donald Trump or Kari Lake. This isn't ONLY about what they have said about Mr. McCain and his family - as bad enough as that was - but this is about upholding our democracy. This is about respecting our electoral institutions even if they don't work out in our favor. This is about respecting the will and the vote of the people. Donald Trump and Kari Lake are antithetical to this. They refuse to accept any results that don't go their way and they scheme and threaten to do everything in their power to subvert the will of the voters if the election doesn't go their way. If that is not the most threatening and disqualifying trait someone could have when vying to be the top executive of the free world then I don't know what is. That isn't to mention the corruption, criminality, and outright demagoguery that has belied Trump in both his private and public capacities. Even as someone who isn't a big fan of Trump, I was hoping for a thoughtful, unbiased discussion that goes beyond one person and examines policy ideas and the party's future direction. Instead, Mr. Beat's repeated emphasis on casting President Trump in an exaggeratedly negative light overshadowed any substantial insights. I really admired Ari for his sincerity and clear passion for the people of Arizona he wants to represent. He genuinely wants the best for his state and would be a great representative. Yeah there is still a lot wrong with a few of the talking points. School choice is a terrible idea and always has been. The idea goes back to Milton Friedman who wanted to privatize everything even when it was not the best idea. His blind faith in free markets is just as fallacious as any extremist views. The end result of school choice would end up being taxpayer dollars going to religious institutions, a lot of public funds going into private hands and organizations with no regulations, discrimination of marginalized groups (LGBTQ+), and poor and rural kids being left behind because public schools are underfunded. And there is not any good evidence that it would help at all. Do some research into a lot of the advocates pushing this from the Cato Institute and Heritage Foundation; they are problematic to say the least. We had a a border deal and conservatives still shot it down for Trump. I really don't know what to say at this point, but it was $15 billion more to border security. Tariffs just aren't as effective these days. Planet Money and plenty of other outlets have covered the problems with modern tariffs. Places like China will just ship through Vietnam or where ever along with a host of other problems like an undue burden on American businesses who pay the actual tariffs, and increased prices on customer goods at the end of the day. There are better solutions. Trump --- was a terrible business man and would have been richer putting his money in the S&P 500 tbh. The constant lying and boasting... He is dangerous because he is a "populist outsider" a classification of leader, which are known to be authoritarian, going by history. And this isn't even getting into the criminal behavior, the court violations, and the Supreme Court problems we have now. I just hope that I could see through my own bias more when it comes to a fraudulent candidate, and I do wish Trump supporters could do the same. The biggest problem right now with the republicans is misinformation and disinformation that FoxNews has been ground zero for the last 20 years. If we can't get on the same page about how vaccines work or that climate change is a serious issue then, I don't know what to do, but these problems aren't going to solve their self.

I’m alright with alternatives to public schools existing (I went to a Catholic school and maintain that it was better for me than any public school); the ability for parents to decide their child’s education is in Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Even then, I think they should be financially self-sufficient. If members of a religious congregation regularly donated a portion of their income as used to be customary, it said congregation operated a school, tuition wouldn’t be so high because they would have that fund. While this is probably nowadays less viable than it used to be, it is preferable to taxpayers funding state programs for vouchers, which in the context of religious schools feels like a First Amendment issue.
@Xsetsu14 күн бұрын
@@DiamondKingStudios I agree with you in that context. There are some real valuable use cases for having alternatives to public schools, although in many cases I do believe it should be better regulated especially when it comes to homeschooling. There are even justifiable reasons for homeschooling. In some cases minority groups do home school to teach awareness around issues left out of public schooling.
@DiamondKingStudios14 күн бұрын
@@Xsetsu What I’m mainly concerned with is the recent prevalence of charter schools. With proper regulation, accreditation of curriculum, and standards equivalent to public schools, they might be a viable temporary alternative to public schools if a municipality or county lacks the sufficient resources to fund a public school system (in which case there’s a whole different problem most of the time), but if they end up producing good students, I’m worried people may take that as an excuse to reduce or eliminate public school funding, effectively putting education into the hands of those organizations that run the schools and making it harder for citizens to make decisions regarding the education of their children. But your mention of homeschooling as a way to teach students about issues ignored by the public school system reminds me of those weekend supplementary school programs many ethnic and religious groups have that function much in the same way, but may also instruct students in theology and/or language. I don’t mind those institutions so much; if anything they often help to preserve local culture and traditions. The church I attend has a religious education program that many public school students who can’t afford the parochial school go to. But whenever those programs aren’t well-established, I can see how homeschooling would tend to be set up in their place. If a building can’t be purchased or built for that function, may as well use one parent’s basement (like my aunt does).
@Xsetsu14 күн бұрын
@@DiamondKingStudios Yeah, I believe the home schooling could be and probably should be more supplementary in most cases, but some black families with better resources decided to teach a much "truer" history for African American citizens in the US for example. The charter schools receiving tax payer dollars through voucher programs is part of the problem I mentioned. Betsy DeVos' home state of Michigan closed public schools and increased charter school and did objectively worse on a national testing average for example back when she was in office. Regulations need to be much stiffer for such a thing to work and privatized schools' main objective would be to turn a profit not the welfare of the kids first. Profit driven schools seem like just as bad of idea as privatized prisons and privatized medicine neither of which have the persons involved in the process as the main concern.
@DiamondKingStudios14 күн бұрын
@@Xsetsu I agree with you concerning for-profit schools. Whenever I imagine a school trying to turn a profit, it’s usually by pouring a large proportion of their funds into athletics (particularly football) and hoping their boosters more than make up for it. But that’s probably the most innocuous way; most probably have worse methods, none of which contribute anything meaningful to good education for the children enrolled there. I think once disparities between public schools within a school district are significantly reduced, as well as disparities between public and private schools (which tends to be a big issue here in the Deep South), that might not make as many parents feel the need to seek alternatives, and trust in the public school system wouldn’t be so low. There will always be parents who send their children to private schools for religious reasons (I might end up being one of them should I ever become a father), but there’s nothing you can really do constitutionally about that. Exactly how these disparities can be reduced is a complicated issue that I don’t know enough about to solve, but tying school funding to local property tax revenues probably isn’t helping much. But once all those are overcome and children are given more or less equal educational opportunities regardless of where they grew up or the standard of living they grew up under, it will go a long way in improving equality of opportunity further down the line.

Answering a question I wasn't able to answer before stream ended. There is a way to develop a moral philosophy that is not intuitive using critical thinking, this is more or less Consequential. The problem most people suffer is the belief that "Like" equals good and "dislike" equals bad. Most peoples moral systems are emotive which is not only dangerous but wrong.
@realdavidkovacs14 күн бұрын
Glad I could catch you after, and I can type without the charlimit. If what you like isn't necessarily good, and what you dislike isn't necessarily bad, then what judge are humans for what is right or wrong?
@alananimus914514 күн бұрын
@@realdavidkovacs Glad you caught this I was hoping you would. Real quick how much moral philosophy do you have and do you know what your moral philosophy is? While it's not necessary, knowing that will help me present the information in a way best suited to communicate intended meaning. I will start with an analogous example. I hate country music, to the point where I can't stand it. However I am able to judge if a country music song is good or bad regardless of my own personal feelings. Most people when they use the term "good" they don't actually have a definition except maybe "vibes", and the same goes for "bad". What good actually means is "productive towards a certain ends" and what bad means is "counter productive towards a certain ends". Specifically to your question "What judge are humans for what is right and wrong"... this is a malformed question because it begs the questions. It assumes right and wrong are mind independent. Individuals of a certain cognitive ability are the only ones who are capable of judging what is right or wrong. Note I said individuals. This could include aliens. What is required to be able to judge right and wrong is three things. 1) a definition of each, 2) a capacity for judgement, 3) an ability to assess desired outcomes. Morality isn't real any more than colors (colors are not real). Both are a product of the brain and no longer exist once the last working brain no longer functions. This is where things like the veil of ignorance play a role. You begin forming morals by asking "what kind of world do I wish to live in." You then pose a question but you don't get to decide who you are in the scenario. For example "Do I want to live in a world with slaves?". You have to decide yes or no without knowing if you would be the slave or the slave owner. The goal at this stage is to tease out moral principles. Once someone develops principles the next step is to begin prioritizing principles. When two principles conflict which takes priority and why? This ultimately is the difference and the problem that exists between Right and Left. On the right you have the counter enlightenment value of Might makes right. On the left you have enlightenment values of reason, disconfirmation, individual rights, and the pursuit of knowledge as the means to improve society and human life. These two positions (enlightenment vs counter enlightenment) are fundamentally at odds and cannot be reconciled. It's also what makes the right so dangerous. Two people on the left can disagree and through discourse change their position. On the right however force is the solution to all disagreement. This is also why I say the right hates America. America was founded on enlightenment greco-roman values. Sure the founders were imperfect and did not live up to those values, but those are the values they founded this nation on. The right rejects those values.

@@alananimus9145 I'll preface this by apologising for the wording of my question, I realised after I had sent it that it proceeded in an inarticulate manner. I didn't want to edit it while you were writing to mess up the continuity of what you were replying to and thinking about for future reference. I agree on the majority of your points listed here, the terms 'good/bad' are typically describing what is conducive or non-conducive towards reaching a certain ends, right and wrong - as deduced by individuals - are invariably mind-dependent (this is the reason why different conclusions exist on matters of 'morality' as the conditions and conclusions that any single person can reach are influenced by a wild degree of post-natal, pre-natal, environmental, and personal factors). As you rightly said, in this middling stage of morality-advocacy, it is the goal of a political (but really we mean an intellectual) establishment to prioritize certain principles over another in favour of a broader and grander vision of society. Before I respond to the last bit where you seem to draw conclusions on the political implications of such things, I want to make sure that we're on the same page here about this and that I'm not misconstruing your words or misrepresenting anything. Have I formulated everything you've said correctly?
@alananimus914513 күн бұрын
@@realdavidkovacs Hey thanks for responding, I wrote that tired and was worried I wasn't as coherent as I could have been (I wasn't). Also no need to apologize for the wording, you haven't shown signs of bad faith so I didn't assume any. You did summarize my meaning well. That said I'd like the chance to clarify my conclusion. Put simply within America there has been a hyper focus on civility politics. This means focusing on policy and on finding "common ground". Unfortunately "common ground" means phrasing things in such a way that the meaning of the phrase is highly variable. Two people with opposing values, goals, and conclusions agreeing to the same phrase is an issue when they understand the phrase to mean two exclusive and opposing things. (See: Family values) A more simple form of American (Liberal) values are Individual rights, equality, truth. Counter Enlightenment (platonic/machiavellian) values are power, might makes right, a disregard for truth. Americans have let the right get away with spreading anti-Americanism basically since R. J. Rushdoony (origin of the seven mountains mandate) when he institutionalized anti-American values through the systematic conquest of the Republican Party. The thing we need to pound into peoples heads especially Democrats is that conservatives cannot be worked with they can only be temporarily appeased. They are anti-American and must be kept from the levers of power at *nearly* any cost. It is impossible to negotiate with them because they do not value truth. They believe that so long as they say the most morally abhorrent things in a polite tone then rudeness is all that matters. They are at their core bad faith actors.

But we embrace conservatives like Sen.
