Thank you for the explanation. I think I burnt the slippers in both my MERV and Mini Summit yesterday bashing in the snow with paddle tires!!! Should I tighten up the slippers first or just replace them?

Why do you figure the slipper clutch was excessively slipping? I would take apart the clutch to determine if the frictional material is in fact worn.

@@RCexplained both rigs smelled pretty bad. I would say the smell was like a maual transmission that someone rode the clutch. I will take them apart and look for glazing and hot spots. Thank you

tighten the screw for the spring to reduce slipping, loosen it for more slipping.

It's an added feature that works well for offroad cars. It's good but not needed on all RCs.
