Africa must choose Africa first before anything else. The real truth is China has come forward with substantial business win, win opportunities, where America cannot, and should not be trusted. For America to be tested for instance, they should lift the embargo leveled at Zimbabwe and remove the condition stipulated by the lending bodies such as IMF, WORLD BANK, and foremost Africa should be granted a permanent seat in the UN Council. Other than that it is better to contine with China where some sort of mutual respect is visable.

The US doesn't own state run enterprises. It can't undertake the kind of infrastructure projects that China can. Two very different systems. Trade with China will probably also be bigger. Most chinese products are fake from pin to food, but cheap. They need to sell those fake products. Thats the main reason; today you buy a a Chinese food product, go to your own country department where quality assurance checked, send and wait for the result. you can see urself the result. anyway until passed sufficient time you wont realize chines nets what they have been trying to do.

US gives Africa a fish, but China gives a net, a boat and the technique to fish. China gives dignity, pride and hope to the Africans. As Africa has many landlocked countries with rich minerals, by providing the transport system now, it allows Africans more choice in how they would sell their resources. Historically, the western powers would pay pittance for their resources due to logistics problems; hence, Africans had no way to choose their customers or price their goods in accordance to global market. In the short term, Africans have no choice but borrow for such investment but able to generate more diverse job opportunities for their people in the meantime. However, China would empower the African Race with great dignity and also, more economic and geopolitics choice to deal with the world at equal footings. Long live to the African race! May god bless you!

Let’s not get fooled again though. China is also in Africa for its own interests. China is taking African resources. We can’t repeat the same mistakes thinking that a foreign power will help us. China is not sharing its technology. China is bringing its engineers and architects. Africa news to start making its own cars and trucks, airplanes and all kinds of machine. That’s the only way we will be truly independent. If China that was once colonized by the Japanese and the British have become a major competitor to the western nations, what about Africa, we can get there too, and we must. The question that this lady should ask the US gentleman is: Why now? Why is it that at this eleventh hour the US now sees this need to court Africa? Kinda reminds me of a man who has lost his girlfriend and now that she has found a more reliable boyfriend he is now begging back and trying to portray himself as the better of the two. They think that the Africans are stupid; that they are not able to see the bigger picture? Finally, any participation between the US and Africa must be unconditional. Africa does not need to be dictated to about who their friends should be.

The US is lying. The debt markets are controlled by the US, the credit agencies that assign 'evil' credit ratings are controlled by the US, the interest rates charged are controlled by the Fed and the multilateral agencies of the IMF and World Bank are controlled by the US. @JA-pn4ji Жыл бұрын
@Jayden cold You don't understand the difference between IMF/World Bank loans and China's loans. IMF loans are like overdrafts or credit card borrowing. You use it to meet budget deficits or pay off short-term borrowing like a household uses a credit card to buy consumer goods. China's loans are purely for infrastructure, it is similar to a loan a household gets for home improvement, which can improve the market value of a home. A well-planned port can earn its way, so also a hydroelectric dam, a fibre-optic network, an airport or a railway. China's loans are long-term (15-30 years) and you don't start paying until the completion of the project. In terms of interest, of the loan options available to Africa by far, the worst is the western bank loan averaging 7% in interest, and next is the western bond market also averaging 7%. China's loans are bilateral and attract an interest of 3%, while multilateral loans from the IMF and World bank have a 2.5% loan term. So compared to Western banks China's loans are attractive. Also, IMF/World bank loans are not easy to get. IMF only gives budget supplementary loans i.e. overdrafts while the World bank only gives loans that meet its environmental and other non-economic politically correct criteria. In short, an African country cannot go to the IMF/World Bank and say they want money to build a port, airport, or railway. They would be turned down and directed to western banks instead. The World Bank undertakes projects to boost its image, so it can have colorful brochures of clean water projects in the odd African village, or girl child education projects, rural electrification, or rural AIDS projects. Notice its concentration on rural Africa, especially as Africa has had the greatest growth in urban migration. It is China that builds the urban metro systems, the urban clean water systems, the urban housing, the urban highway bypass, etc. In my country Nigeria, we experienced an oil boom in the 1980s and we gave infrastructure contracts to western countries. When the oil price dived all the western companies abandoned their projects leaving Nigeria strewn with thousands of half-finished projects such as hospitals, airports, factories, etc. Unlike the West, China never abandons a project, once a project is signed and approved, China pursues the project to completion irrespective of the country's economic circumstances during construction. Not only that, China is the fastest and cheapest builder delivering projects such as Nairobi's expressway so fast that residents are dazzled. The US which through Bechtel offered to build a road from Mombasa in Kenya as usual abandoned the idea. Look at the comments from Africans. Why are they all supportive of China? Or do you think they are trolls? They all have witnessed what China has done. The proof of China's goodwill is physically evident in Africa, and not just the words and abuse that the US throws around to excuse its comparative inadequacy.

All Africa needs most is to negotiate for equipment and build warehouses for the manufacturing of equipment. It needs to train Africans to do the work to make the repairs to own business in areas of needed. To have African engineers come back under contracts from the Diaspora to manage the contracts, to create an export tax for training your workforce and to implement phased short term training for things like of pouring and mixing asphalt, concrete and other products. What it needs is to remain in control, if any country don't offer that then keep most of your resources, just sell what you need to have managed growth until you get your workforce up to par, keep your contracts short 7 years or less esp when dealing and contracting for your resources, resource extraction. Keep your control do not let anyone build embassies on your land or make deals to follow the pact keep your sovereignty and always have the option to opt out of any global pac (strong arm tactics, they are global gangs who are exempt from injustices against others the US did that when their settlers should have been held accountable for the legislation it created which allowed free labor through slavery)

It's funny to hear the people talk about the African diaspora as if blacks enjoy the same privileges as the average non-black US citizens. The majority of Blacks in America started as slaves legally and now, are slaves financially, socially and judicially--whether it's job opportunity, the way they are treated by law enforcement and the judicial system, the priority given to their drinking water, the way they are welcome in residential neighborhoods--I could go on forever. One black president does not make up for it. Or put another way, close to $100 Bil to Ukraine in less than a year, and $55 Bil in 3 years to Africa? Special immigration lines for blond-haired, blue-eyed Ukrainians and deportation of black and brown South Americans and Haitians. Do we even hear ourselves talk?
