one thing you forgot to consider is that the deep dark is a biome, it isn't a full layer, but instead it spawns deep in certain areas, so you wouldn't have to worry about the warden when looking for diamonds

I like to imagine the Warden is an "okay guys, let's make extra sure to be careful when mining today" kind of creature. I feel like he's more of an obstacle instead of something you fight regularly. "Oh no, it's a Warden! Do not engage! Run away!" He makes you feel vulnerable, no matter what. When you get full diamond or netherite, you're basically immortal. The Warden is a good challenge and reminder that we can die by something stronger than us if we get too cocky.

I have a theory, hear me out: much time ago, warden lived like villagers: they were peaceful, lived in small houses and could see. But one day a war started beetwen the wardens and other underground enemies. Most wardens died. And those who survived lost the ability to see and were severly injured (the reason why his bones are exposed) Now, when wardens hear an entity they have flashbacks about the war and enter a rage mode, killing whatever they can. And the cave noises are wardens searching for other wardens who survived

I would argue that the Ender dragon destroyed the End, as it once was a more beautiful world, and the warden is protecting the portal. The reason I come to this conclusion is because Endermen like to steal blocks from the overworld, maybe hinting that they’re trying to rebuild their world but failing to do so.

I think that based on the end citys with end ships that have dragons on them, its quite the opposite. There were once many more players, who then invaded the end and killed most of the dragons befire getting killed by either the dragon you fight or just died out mysteriously. The Warden was placed there by the enderman or some other mystical force to serve as a guard to keep The Last Player (you) out.

my theory is that he isnt the protector of the portals or anything like that, but rather the literal warden of the spirits in his chest, holding them prisoner. his ribs are like bars keeping them in and its not as obvious in the real texture, but in the concept art the little glowy things in the wardens chest look like faces. additionally, if you look closely at when the warden takes damage, the glowing faces actually arent affected by the red damage color, implying that theyre seperate creatures. it is suspicious that the warden looks like an end portal though...

8:11 i'd like to expand on this idea instead of just "breaking the seal" and the skulk being released, the dragon, a more powerful entity than it, needs to be killed in order for the skulk to be released from the end. This would work awfully like terraria with "the ancient souls of light and dark" being released. and maybe it works exactly like that. A biome that will expand, grow and take over your entire world if you're not careful. Maybe there could be a new NPC in the end that you can find. One that will help you combat the skulk growths growth

The endermen's eyes were originally green in the early development stages before they were changed to magenta! Edit: Also, endermen commonly are found in the *Warped* forest in the Nether. Notice that there's a lot of that blue color in the Warped Forest that is also seen in Pre-Ender Dragon end stuff. As a speedrunner of the current version I’m exited to get some changes to the run, Minecraft is relatively easy compared to non randomly generated games. A lot of it is more luck than challenge (you still have to be good at the game compared to most people though). It would extend runs yes but the majority of runs end before you leave the neather so it would just extend the time of completed runs.

@@yourlocaltrashpanda7008 I’m exited for the potential changes and harder mobs. Minecraft feels too easy for me right now, and I think that expanding the mid and late game would be great. Maybe even buff the ender dragon, or maybe make it so that when you go to the end, you aren’t sent straight to the dragon, instead, you’re in the outer end islands, and have to collect things from end cities and such to get to the main end island. This would make the rewards from end cities feel less lackluster. Idk these are just some of my thoughts and are unlikely to be added.

The idea that the Warden is not keeping us in the Deep Dark but trying to keep us _out,_ that it's actually guarding something, is kind of terrifying. Much more scary when you realize how ridiculously powerful the Warden actually is, because if the mob that can two-shot you in full unenchanted Netherite gear is just a guard, imagine how dangerous whatever it's guarding is. Or it could be super weak or fragile.

After rewatching this 10 months later, we definitely know where the deep dark will be located as we're now aware of the increase in the world height but seeing as you stated such an occurrence as a possibility you definitely were not incorrect in that sense. This is actually a neat idea. You think the Dragon is a great evil, but she's only protecting the world and you need to team up with her to stop or control the sculk infection. Alternatively, you find a way to hatch the Dragon Egg, raise that baby dragon, and stop the sculk without the problem that the original Ender Dragon is hostile or in this case, neutral.

Here's my theory: So, we have Strongholds, where the end portal is found. But the strongholds are also prisons, as we can see cells within. The director of a prison is called a warden. I'm thinking that the Warden was *the warden* of the stronghold(s), and was tasked with protecting the portals

There should be vertical Chunks below y level 0 that only get loaded when the player gets deeper... The reason for why there are no vertical chunks, is that the entire way to the surface must be loaded to calculate the shadows and sunlight... If you were in a big cave underground and the top Chunks wouldn't be loaded, sunlight would get into the cave, so below level 0 there should not be sunlight at all, which would allow the game to load and unload vertical chunks without causing performance issues or light glitches... The top layer that still needs to calculate sunlight above level 0 could be rendered normally and might only load chunks below when the player reaches a certain y level near 0...

I think you misunderstand the concept behind the warden. The devs have already stated that the point isn't to fight him and that's why he's so tough. The whole point of the warden is you're meant to creep around and not get detected by it, which is something you can do at any level. Also you're wrong about the performance issues. Yes it would impact performance because more blocks are being loaded at once, but "twice the chunks are being loaded" is wrong since chunks go from the bottom of the world to the top, its the same amount there's just more in them that needs to be processed.

The clips that the Devs released, we can see that the chest cavity is open. It also pulsates like a heartbeat. If you look closer, you can see what appears to be fearful faces inside the cavity, blue, glowing faces. The fact that the faces are where they are (heart) suggests to me that those faces are the souls of travellers or explorers that were killed by the Warden. The Warden takes the soul and uses it as energy. We can also see the name "Warden" means that he's locking something up (like a prison), and that something would be the souls of ones it had killed in the past and is now using as energy. Just a thought.

Interesting theory, reminds me of a theory where soul sand and soul soil is actually made of people who either just died in the Nether or were burnt into ashes by soul fire. If this theory is accurate, hundreds of thousands of people were killed in the nether. Another theory could be that the Nether is literal Hell, and those who die in the overworld with "sin" or a bad reputation, are turned into soul sand in Hell. Jeez, minecraft is a twisted game, I love it. If the Nether is a literal Hell, people have talked that the End, is the actual end, and canon, Steve never makes it make to the overworld after leaving the End, he instead ascends to a heaven like area that we could never see

I just want to find diamonds, that's all, but what I discovered... I swore on Notch to never speak about it; the horror... the deep dark. I took a step forward and a strange plant, I don't know what it actually was, but it moved, and then another one did. That's when the light went out. "It's coming!" I jumped back when I saw the man standing in front of me. "The Warden is coming! He's coming. You have a sword; help me! We need to get out of here now..." The light fled again as the sound hit my ears. Sparks from my torch danced back to life as the man before me was pulled back into the darkness. All I heard where the screams as an ender pearl left my hand. I got out. Somehow, I got out. You may just say that this is a folktale or ghost story from an old spelunker but I swear to the Nether, the Warden is real and he's out there.

I heard a theory stating that the Deep Dark is void of any mobs because the Warden went on a total rampage and killed literally everything. I think it'd be neat if you could somewhat 'tame' the Warden. Not outright turn it into a pet, but pacify it toward you so it sees you as a non-threat. Maybe at a certain point, mobs begin spawning in the Ancient Cities, and the player can work out a deal of some sorts that so long as the Warden doesn't attack the player, the player will allow the Warden to kill mobs to its hearts content.

The end stronghold is a prison and instead of the traditional death sentence, prisoners were banished to the void. What they didn't know was that you could actually survive there, and eventually a bunch of prisoners escaped and killed all the guards of the prison. However, one guard managed to sneak past and close the portal , getting away alive. The problem was, he got hurt in the fight and his injuries became corrupted and slowly consumed him, turning him into the Warden. The banished prisoners became endermen, which is why there are so many in the end - and also why there are a few in the overworld. The one you saw wandering around the forest last night was a criminal so horrible that they deserved the worst punishment anybody could imagine.... and was tough enough not only to survive but to escape, thousands of years ago.

The deep dark is probably just a rare biome near Bedrock. There are normal caves and vines at y11 for diamonds but sometimes you find the deep dark like finding an underground Ravine or mineshaft. For the trade off, maybe Diamonds or other precious materials are found in the biome more frequently.

This is probably what Mojang will end up with, but I just love Sarc' version so much more :D
