If Norvell and Gus bring in Herb Hand, that'll upgrade the Offensive Line by default. Rick Trickett probably won't return to Tallahassee, but a veteran line coach is important. If GJ Kinne is tapped for the UCF job, that may keep Herb Hand in Orlando, very interesting scenarios to keep an eye on.

Bo Nix played well in Dan Lanning’s system, similar to their current QB. Bo nix also struggled against above average defenses. Malzahn still had a top10 rushing offense this year.

I'm sorry, but I'm not a fan of this pic. I'll tell you why, when it comes to big games he cracks. His play calling is filled with errors and he isn't consistent when it comes to actually using the talent he has. Over the last 4 years easily, you can see where he had to do simple things like run the ball in order to kill the clock and instead try to do big passes which cause turnovers. He doesn't understand how to play call and is just as bad as whoever's doing it now. Though we might have a little influx of productivity, it's still not a very good pic.

I like what you said. Gus was able to score against 2013 fsu defense, which was crazy good. So, I think he is a good offensive mind. I've been an fsu fan since 1996, the year I was born and graduated from fsu in 2020 EE. I want fsu to be at least a 9-3 team each year. I've not used to fsu dominating like my dad said they did in the early 90s. The 2013 and 2023 seasons were anomalies to "me", I'm used to 6-6 seasons from fsu, and I'm delighted when we get at least 9 wins.

I think he is a good fit for our current and likely near-term future players. With his offenses, it doesn't all hinge on one future NFL QB that can sling the rock, or a once-per-decade RB that is a real best.....just get good talent with speed and coach them up. They should bring DS in now as DBs coach with the newly-coined (by me) "two-way coordinator" added on to it. I imagine there are a lot of future Caleb Downs/Jeremiah Smith HS guys that would love the chance to play for the guy that turned Travis H into a Heisman favorite. The long-term decision will pan out, but Gus will bring some wisdom and maturity that FSU needs as well as bringing up the baseline offensive production where they'll be in the position to win games that the defense does well in again.

I do remember it was frustrating watching them shred FSU's D in the NC game....they (FSU) had a pretty good defense that year and until Jimbo finally figured out that Auburn knew our play calls and the offense started actually moving the ball, it looked like it was going to be a blowout. If he can do that with N Marshall and a handful of skill players, I have to think even this year's offense would have done much better with him brought in off-season 2024. Maybe not the absolute best hire on paper, but I see the potential benefits. Hey....maybe part of his contract will be telling the truth about stealing signals during that game....

He was a great recruiter here at UCF. We had our top classes in school history. Before this season fell apart, we were looking to have our first ever top 25 class/just outside T25. He didn’t play these recruits though. The last 2 years he brought in load of transfers and played them over guys he recruited out of high school mostly. Or the top contributors over the past few years were left over guys from the last regime. Idk if it was development issue or what but we had all of these highly rated recruits riding the bend for 2+ years in mass. It’s a crazy stat, but if you look at his first ever recruiting class in 2022 here, damn near none of the players are here anymore because they just did not get to play. I’m happy you guys took his. I also really hope he works out for yall. Maybe he’s just not cut out to deal with all the HC stuff nowadays

UCF will warn FSU fans just like Auburn fans warned UCF fans. Gus was not a great coach. He's a great recruiter though. His play calling at UCF was terrible. He's very predictable. His Cam Newton days are long behind him. He loves to run the ball but other teams know this and load the box on him. He has driven all the really good UCF QBs out of town. UCF lost Dillon Gabriel, Mikey Keene, Thomas Costellanos, etc. He brings in KJ Jefferson that wound up being an absolute bust. UCF went through four different QBs this year. It was a huge joke to watch. Every QB was terrible. A really good QB doesn't want to play for Gus because he loves running the ball. He just wasn't a great fit at UCF. Now FSU wants Gus to run the offense? Good luck.
