Except for Americans arent the equivalent to the Japanese. If anything, America is China, where Canada is Japan. They both have a maple leaf and also seem to like red and white. I would argue Appalachian is the wrong accent - especially because Goku lived in the North, in Gohans hut, which was said to be North of Ox King's palace, which is already very far north. Id argue Goku would have a rural Ontarian accent, especially because he was raised by a native (Gohan was a native to his area), which would mean he would have the monotone, droning dialect that native americans have, not an appalachian accent.
