X- shaped turbo diesel specially designed for combat vehicles and it can also be used for oil pump(not the other way around) shares nothing with porsche tiger engine ( it was petro electric) the sla 16 was supposed to be fitted in the tigers but wasnt ( lazerpig calls it unreliable but it wasnt even fitted) sla is diesel 16 cylinder engine shares nothing with the t-14 engine except the shape. edit: i am the obsessed person mat is talking about.

it's 5 old Lada engines strapped together in a multibank arrangement like the M4A4. Clustered around a huge central hybrid super/turbo charger. Due to the high compression ratio it will only run on the highest grade undiluted vodka. Coupled to twin epicyclic preselector gearboxes. (one for each drive wheel) 9 speed forward, and 1 speed back. With an Auxiliary Power Unit of the commander running in a treadwheel.

"Old ass Soviet design", "somewhat competitive" Almost all of the major main battle tank designs today - including the Abrams and Leopard 2 - originate from the late 70s or early 80s, with the vast majority of tanks in service being upgraded versions of chassis that are 20+ years old. Note, this is entirely *normal* standard practice in military hardware. Nobody talks about the F-15EX as being an "old-ass cold war design", despite the fact the original airframe came into service in *1972* - the same year as the T-72. Please stop with this casual disparagement of Russian military hardware, simply because of this stupid, pervasive ideology of Russians being "backwards", or incapable of designing modern military weapons. The T-14, almost 10 years on from its first unveiling, is still *the* most advanced tank in the world, featuring next-generation characteristics such as fully digital systems, a crewless turret, integrated hard and soft kill APS, modular digital design etc. that no Western tank possesses currently.
@kylelowe3867
@kylelowe3867 5 ай бұрын
@@toma3025 Yeah but that doesn’t make it good now does it? Oh wow it has very advanced stuff.. it took a very long time and still hasn’t entered production at all in the slightest aside from limited production.. oh look, an Su-57, a totally advanced plane that would’ve rocked the world.. if they made more than 10 working planes.. oh wait.. here comes America with over 400 produced F-35s… which are meant to be better than F-22As in a smaller package. Yeah as much as you want to say it is advanced, unfortunately it is TOO advanced for Russia currently to actually field in service simply because the components are too expensive, the tank itself requires factories to switch from making old tank models since the 80s-90s to the T-14s which again, they’re a completely different design change from their soviet era space launch systems. Crewless turret? The AGS and Stryker MGS has done this, granted aren’t tanks but that still is a point, it isn’t new technology, HardKill and SoftKill APS? Again, aren’t exactly new but it being integrated is a certainly interesting idea but is it ideal or just waste of resources? And even so? The T-14 hasn’t proven itself in combat unlike other main battle tanks like the Abrams and Leopards who went into combat not long after they entered service, the T-14 and Su-57 were examples of Russia failing to try to get out of the Soviet Era Design syndrome that they have.

@John2r1

It's a copy of the German Tiger Tanks X Engine. You literally heard the sound of a Tiger Tank from WW2. Detroit does not and has not produced X engines for vehicles or tanks. The American Abrams literally uses a Jet engine and runs quieter than the T-14. American Diesel engines are generally speaking V block engines . Like gas powered engines are.
@Rrgr5
@Rrgr5 5 ай бұрын
@@John2r1 not even close, Tigers used V12 Maybach engines, they did a prototype at the end of the war that never really went into production, that's a myth lazerpig created, also, there are A LOT of X engines, the Armata and the Tiger prototype aren't the only ones, actually Daimler-Benz made a X version of their aerial engines, the same used in German warplanes in WW2, so as other companies all around the world, is more like a version of two BMP engines joined in X format than anything even closer to the the Tiger prototype, which probably sounded similar, but it was a gas engine not diesel, higher pitch with way larger bore, as I said, not even close.

@@definitelyfrank9341 No I actually did my own research and actually just gave you some links that say the exact same thing. Written by people who know more than both of us about the tank. It's not my fault or Lazerpigs fault that Russia gas lit you and the rest of the world with their bs claims only to show that they are incompetent liers who talked themselves up so much that when they finnally used that big bad military of they're's It turned out that they aren't even capable of taking out Ukraine which has recieved like what 1% of what NATO is actually capable of bring to bear if the Russian Government were to be so stupid as to pick that fight directly. Hell a leaked document from the Kremlin showed that if Russia ever went to war with the US not even including NATO that Russian forces would be wiped out in 72 hours of the conflict starting. And that's their own internal report. Fact is Russia is not a threat to NATO. The only thing Russia has is Nukes and that's mutually assured destruction. The US Army's new tank project the Abram's X is everything that Russia has pretended that the T-14 is supposed to be. Fact is Russia is operating on outdated equipment and has a incompetent chain of command. The only unit that is known to have T-14s is the 1st guard's tank regiment of the Taman division. Which is a Parade division. Seriously they have somewhere between 10 and 40 of these tanks. And when China's media which is usually fairly pro Russian states that the T-14 isn't worth the price and that it's active defense systems don't work and that Russia has been lying and inflating the tanks abilities ie using propaganda . You know there is a problem with the tank. www.businessinsider.com/china-arms-makers-criticized-russia-battle-tank-2015-6 www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-06-08/china-battle-tank-maker-trash-talks-russian-rival-online So when Russia's allies are saying that the Russian's have exaggerated the capabilities of the T-14 Armata it might be a good ideal to listen to them.

Honestly I brought this up when lazerpig started saying it was a revamp of that old german tank engine. Like there are commercially available truck engines that are better I used a CAT C16 as an example because I had forgotten about the Scania engine or the numerous other European manufacturers. Honestly if they were smart they’d start doing that with the T72 tanks as an upgrade kit.

Sanctions exist. I mean, Yes, sure, they can but SAAB engines through cutouts & ship them in from Kazakhstan or whatever, but that's a ridiculous use of their money. For whatever reason the engine currently in the T-14 is undependable, a la Soviet T-64 tank engines back in the day. Do you know how the Soviets reacted to the news the T-64's engine was unreliable? They didn't try for new parts to replace the unreliable parts, they didn't pull the engines out for rebuilds or testing to find the faults. They simply stopped making them. Ladies And Gentlemen, We Give You The Russians' Grand Strategy For Dealing With Any Large Production Problem! Please hold your applause until the end of the third day.

Scania could easily make an engine for it if you think about it. They make 800+ hp V8 egines, which can easily be tuned to way over 1000hp, and are really close to the torque the Abrams engine put out.
