Excelent video! As someone from Costa Rica (A Tico), I see that you definitely have done your research on the topic, as same as Kojima and Konami, such a master piece of my favorite saga centered in my country with the best characters is something that goes over happiness, everything in that games is done to a grade of quality that is amazing in so many senses of the word to portrait one word: "Peace" In such an ambiguous scenario, planted in one game that provides a lot of feelings being the favorite of mine yet. Many places in Limon, like banana plantations, trains, and stuff, references to the coffee, I have been to those places and it's so awesome to see all those things correctly put together, as from somebody who studies and loves it's country, they did like a REALLY, good research to cultural, cinematographics and characters actitud. The video is just like excelente, everything is very well organized and worked together, just a delight to watch from start to finish and see this game, such an awesome game in the saga, get the recognition it deserves, this video arrived in the perfect moment, recent stuff about this game that I love so much to see, thank you so much for this awesome work, can't wait for part 2! And of course, Pura Vida!

This just reminds me of an experience I had when I was younger. When I was in high school, me and my family took a road trip to visit family who were visiting in New York City. Me and my brother especially were HUGE MGS nerds at the time, and on the way home from that trip, our parents unintentionally drove a route that basically had us follow the Hudson river and we got to basically follow the path the USS Discovery took in MGS2, but in reverse, from the Verrazano bridge to the George Washington Bridge, where Snake jumps onto the Tanker. The thing that really blew on minds is that on the roadsigns in the area, they actually refer to it as the "G.W. Bridge". It wouldn't surprise me if this wasn't at least partial inspiration for the name of the AI. Also, they recreated the bridge so faithfully, It was a little different seeing it in the day time and sun, but otherwise it felt just like in the game. We just imagined Snake being one of the little people we could see walking on that bridge. Just having a connection to a place in the real world like that because of a game you love is just such a crazy experience, thats why your story reminded me.

Well we pretend that Snake never heard Eva’s tapes in order for him to suddenly start questioning The Boss’ motives again as if it wasn’t just laid out for him in great detail at the end of Snake Eater.
@hondshoven84774 жыл бұрын
@@balloonfiesta15 There's that and a sort of "OK... But why ?". Big Boss doesn't really get why the Boss accepted her mission on a personal level. How can an human being, a proud soldier can go to her death knowing that she'll die for cash and will be forever branded a traitor ? The true ending is him making his own interpretation of her motives and making "peace" with it (although his interpretation is all kind of wrong).

You can understand this through logic, but emotions are a different matter. He was the one who pulled the trigger on the woman. Then he turns his back on the country that made him do it. It's funny you think you'd be A-Ok and do things with perfect logic after the trauma of killing the person you were closest to, and then being told why. It can be handwaved just by saying he was in denial, but that'd be selling it way short.
@robertlauncher4 жыл бұрын

@@robertlauncher On a surface level, sure "Loyalty to the end !". Except they're trying to sell loyalty no matter what to a man who left the military after learning the truth of the matter... Big Boss, I feel, can't accept the idea that it's that easy. Hell, towards the end of the game where he "accepts" it, he frames it as a personal betrayal... Showing that he can't quite fathom that level of (blind) loyalty. "The women I respected / loved / admired died willingly so bureaucrats can have more cash ? There has to be more to it" kind of thing.
@robertlauncher4 жыл бұрын
@@magnawaves I never said that he would be perfectly logical or A-okay, but it’s not like he was just told “She was a hero.” And that’s it. Every single detail was laid out in depth at the end of Snake eater, and yet Peace Walker acts like there was some missing part of it for him to question. Kojima can be a brilliant writer, but then there are times he will chase a theme without caring where it takes the characters from where they’ve been. Chronologically, this is the first instance of that. And if you’re gonna go for the “PTSD is making him act this way” argument, he sure handled electric shock torture while lying about the events pretty well. I’m not saying it’s not there, of course it is, but to act like it suddenly robs him of all sense is giving Kojima a little too much credit.

@@birdass1521 Yeah Peace Walker is the next one chronologically. I'm a big fan of the series so I'd easily recommend it to anyone thinking of getting into it. And PS3 is a good route for that, since you can play every main entry on it (but if you have a current gen/ good PC you'll probably want to get MGSV on it instead for that better performance) As for whether they're all as good as Snake Eater, obviously that's subjective but most fans would say 3 is the peak of the series, but not by a huge margin. I think they're all pretty close in quality, each with their unique strong suits, and they've aged remarkably well (if you're comfortable with the control scheme of Snake Eater then you're over the biggest barrier of their age). Peace Walker is a step down that doesn't quite stand out from the rest (the story kind of lives in 3's shadow without adding a whole lot to it, and the new gameplay systems are significantly upgraded in V), but it's still pretty good and it comes with the legacy collection that has nearly everything Metal Gear. I'd say go for it if you can find a PS3 for a good price!

As someone who didn't play this, I think the thing I like the most about MGS 3 and PW, is that it isn't afraid to show how things really were back at Cold War Latin America/Caribbean. It doesn't show the typical "Amurica good, Russia bad" type of story, both blocks don't plan to help and make lives better for their respective allies, they are just there to make sure the other side doesn't do anything at all, even if it means putting Dictators and the people in the country suffering from it

Hey Boss, I'm a big fan of MGS and yours. Your attention to detail and analysis is top notch, and your viewpoint and speculations are nearly identical to mine. In fact, you've noted and pointed out several things in the series that I wouldn't have to put together myself. So, thanks for that. HOWEVER, nearly every MGS theory or analysis video gets at least ONE thing wrong (in my opinion); Big Boss, like The Boss before him, NEVER actually became a villain. He's only painted as a Villain by Zero, and later The Patriot AI's, because he wouldn't play along with them, and was a threat to their system of control. I'd love a video that talks about that, whether it's to agree and highlight this overlooked opinion/theory, or to completely disprove it. Your call Boss...

@@Sc0f1N Thanks for your reply man. Big Boss is against Cypher/Patriots and is probably aware that the world (or at least America) is being controlled by these AI's, by the events of Metal Gear. This is why Big Boss is pulling strings while pretending to be working with the Patriots, while using his Phantom to setup Outer Heaven. Big Boss doesn't believe world peace is possible, but by playing the role of villain that the Patriots have labeled him, he can draw their attention towards outer heaven, and effectively draw most of the worlds warfare into an isolated area. War is inevitable, but what if you could minimize it, by concentrating it into a single small, isolated region? The Patriots won't ever just nuke Big Boss in Outer Heaven or Zanzibar, so they'll have to send ground forces. The threat of Metal Gear will ensure that it won't be endless waves of large battalions either. The Patriots will fight Big Boss on his own terms, through guerrilla warfare, and covert operations and covert attacks. Big Boss' men will of course, be very effective at holding the Patriots at bay, and diverting their military operations towards Big Boss. Also, we know that it's not Big Boss' style to just blatantly kill their attackers. Outer Heaven or Zanzibar would just continuously capture and convert enemy soldiers to his cause. Kind of like Morpheus freeing people from the Matrix, and training them to fight back against their AI/Machine Oppressors. But hey, maybe I'm wrong?

Almost everyone in the games are soldiers, & those that aren't (like Huey) are at the mercy of military violence. Zero was a military officer, Boss, Big Boss, & Snake are all soldiers. These are games about militaries consistently failing to produce lasting peace, but for some reason people play them & just go "I guess trying to make things better is just impossible!"
