I really liked Yooka-Laylee. It had a few issues but it was a really fun game. I never actually got around to playing the impossible lair but I'd love to see a potential Tooka-Laylee in full 3D with more compact and tight level design. Tbh, I'd even love to see them have a go at any kind of new 3D platformer because I'll never get tired of that genre. Although, the one I'm really looking forward to soon is Penny's Big Breakaway.

I love Yooka-Laylee, I always thought it got way too much hate when it released. Only part that I didn't like was the final boss, but I loved everything else about the game. As for the second game, I thought it was pretty good too but I didn't love it as much as the original. Also I never used the 64-bit tonic because it's not nostalgic to me; I didn't grow up with an N64 and I've never played Banjo-Kazooie. My first consoles were the Dreamcast and PS2

I think I know a big part of the reason why we haven’t gotten a new game yet is because of the current state of video games nowadays. How much longer it takes to come out because of longer development cycles and platformers still trying to make a big comeback. Crash Bandicoot being the most successful one currently.

I remember hearing news of some interview saying that one of the games they were working on was a proper sequel to Yooka Laylee (this was after Impossible Lair) if I remembered right. I can't remember if this was in 2021 or 2019. However I never see them mention the sequel in the anniversary and heard of one sign suggesting that it was canceled (but I don't think it was blatant, just more of someone wondering if one thing was a tease for Yooka Laylee sequel and the team responded in a way that disappointed the person but I don't think it was a cancel conformation intentionally). So I'm a bit worried, especially since the 360 camera 3D platformer genre has recently been silent again mostly. I really would love if the team could just say that they didn't cancel it or say it's doing okay. That would of been enough, and don't need anymore info for the game at that point.

Just watch the Nintendo Life Interviews with them. They work on sequels but want it to be perfect for them and they want to surprise the people, so we get less Informations.

Wow, I haven't played that game in years. It was on sale at the Playstation store not too long ago. I couldn't figure out when I want to start a new game or play something else. But now that I saw your video, I have finally decided to start playing Yooka-Laylee. It will bring back good times when I first got the Playstation 4. And I sure would love to see a sequel someday. Maybe it will be announced once I get the Playstation 5 later this year.

It's quite interesting that the series pretty much ended on a cliffhanger and shows no sign of returning. By now, Playtonic has found more success as publishers instead of developers. The last time Yooka and Laylee appeared was in Demon Turf. Their last reference was in Kao the Kangaroo as a DLC costume (well, just Yooka). They were Playable Characters in Mighty Fight Federation, which is currently their last playable appearance.

@X2011racer10 ай бұрын
Toys for Bob is rumored to have been hit the most with the Microsoft layoffs. If there was ever a new Spyro game in development, it's likely canceled. We don't know how long Crash Team Rumble will go on until the Final Season is announced. Once that happens, it's back to co-developing Call of Duty.

I played thru Yooka-Laylee awhile back... And, not gonna lie, it wasn't a fun experience. Wasn't a fan of the game mechanics, power-ups, soundtrack or just the overall game design. I get it was trying to capture the Banjo-Kazooie spirit; but it felt like it didn't understood WHY Banjo-Kazooie or Tooie worked. At least, why it worked back on the N64. Yooka-Laylee should have done what A Hat in Time did; took the strengths of old 3D platformers and modified it for current game consoles and players. A Hat in Time was fun, charming, and memorable. Don't know about the Impossible Lair, because I never played it.

Remember when Conker's Bad Fur day was just gonna be another kid friendly platformer but then critics said their were too many of them? That's how I feel about Yooka-Laylee. They shoulda made a game with at least a hint of edge to it like A Hat in Time.

Edge?
@radiocaster2k6 ай бұрын
A Hat in Time has edge? No more edge than any Rare game did back in the day or Yooka-Laylee itself really. Heck, I bet there's probably more blatant adult jokes in Yooka-Laylee to be honest.

Have yet to play Yooka Laylee. Kinda lost interest when it's clear the devs seemingly didn't understand what made Banjo Kazooie so great. Also the self deprecating comments about Nuts and Bolts kinda put me off since it came across as desperate and fan pandering (especially when you consider how enthusiastic they were about Nuts and Bolts back then). I know Impossible Lair has a bit of a cult following but that game never looked that interesting to me either aesthetically. I'm glad A Hat in Time exists and it proves fantastic 3D platformers can be made by indie studios and I'm highly looking forward to Billie Bust Up as well.
