It's not hard to learn to tune by ear but it's hard to explain how to tune by ear, plus now days there are so many different tuning versions like drop D tuning and tuning the guitar to a certain key , for instance tuning in the key of G or C or E . Myself, I always tune in Standard tuning !

This is why when I go to guitar shop I say I'm looking for a guitar for my freind and I don't play, so I don't need to play infront of them and make them try it out for me. Then I awkardly say stuff like 'I...I mean my freind was probably wondering...' and ask a bunch of questions that likely only someone who plays would know and still carry on pretending like its not for me.

No way I'd play that even if they begged..Your gonna get halen ,dokken ,zep, ozzy, Floyd or whatever. Then I'll do some tasty original clean stuff and then hard riff blues 80's style shit. I'll cut the strings off before I play wonder wall. But if I HAD to play it, I'd change the lyrics where the songs about you and it won't be complementary. Oh , and the end is gonna be done 80's style high gain.
