I’ve played xDefiant open beta. Movement is clunky, gunfights feel strange w/ bad hit registration. Overall gets boring after a few games. The lack of streaks and perks makes the game even more 2 dimensional and lacks soul. I understand they don’t want to make a carbon copy of cod but man, playing this game really made me appreciate cod even in it’s current state. If you have fun playing this then good for you but for me it’s not enough to be a main game i play regularly. EDIT: i forgot to mention there’s no tactical sprint which i tried doing every time i spawned because i kept forgetting it wasn’t there. There’s also no prone so no drop shot or laying behind cover waiting for health to regenerate. I would say this game reminds me most of black ops 4 because of the fast arcade feel with specialist abilities, but it’s massively watered down due to lack of features. This game comes out at the end of summer and i predict if it even makes it to the release of cod 2023 then it definitely won’t make it to 2024 before most people are bored of it. Call of duty really is the only thing that can kill call of duty. XDefiant was the one game i thought might do it after all these years but even it is doomed to fail.

-Controller mode still feels janky/not precise/inconsistent -TTK is inconsistent (Shoot first, die first, kill slow - get killed fast) -Hit detection still bad -Operators are unbalanced (Libertard still overused, others are way too OP like the invisibility one) -Movement feels clunky -Gunplay is boring (every weapon feels almost the same) -Weapons feel like toys even though the models are good -Sound design is poor -Connection -Lobbies are unbalanced (Teams full of good players vs bad players) This game still feels bad. Is not horrible, but is not that great either, is just ok for a cheap FPS game but people saying this is better than COD will be done with the game after a few weeks with it, since is not as consistent as any COD developed since 2007.

Semi auto weapons feel incredibly unresponsive if you have a good trigger finger. This isn’t a fire rate cap issue because half the time the firing with abruptly stop for no reason with no pattern Also they say there isn’t any SBMM but I had an insanely great game and a few consecutive matches after that I was getting absolutely demolished and it felt very off, especially since the lobbies ARE disbanding

Yeah as a shotgun user the damage is weirdly inconsistent and the hits are sometimes bizarre. I'll hit a person next to who I'm aiming at when ads with more pellets than my intended target or ill empty a tube at someone point blank get get nothing. I'm not entirely sure if it's just a skill issue as I'm still unfamiliar with the game or something is buggy. Probably both.

Good. Stick with a no skill game like CoD then where you can sit around corners and just one or two tap people. As an Apex player this game feels like the perfect ttk. A bit longer than CoD and a bit shorter than Apex.

The devs should really look into balancing the shield faction. Too many people in my lobbies just sit back behind their barriers and shoot through them. Either nerf barrier hp or remove the ability for friendly bullets to go through friendly barriers.

It should only take most of a mag from an assault rifle to break the shield. You just need to look at it as you cannot engage with someone behind a shield. It's temporary cover so you either have to break it or go around.

Hey Ace off topic but I got an idea for you. How about doing a series "Rate My Gun". This is where we submit gun builds to you (along with our own tuning) and you put them through the mill, rating them out of 10 on different attributes like ADS, TTK, Control, Etc and and "Ace" attribute which would be an overall "feel" rating from you, this would be worth x2 points (so out of 20 for this one from you). This should give each gun a score out of say 80. You spend a bit of time giving your impression overall, where you think this build would excel (close quarters, sniping etc) and give a quick bio of the person submitting, this could just be their CoD name and time spent playing MW2 maybe? You then have the top 10 guns from all you have reviewed (scored as described previously), listed with their submitters COD name on screen at the end and people have the prestige of having their gun in your top 10... I have an ISO Hemlock build that melts, great ADS, very little recoil and also have great range if you wanna use this as your 1st review? This could be great for others looking to duplicate some great community builds for themselves. Cheers

I've been getting some weird bugs where my mouse won't move in the middle of a gunfight, inconsistent TTK's as well. Seemingly 1-2 frame deaths even with sub 20ms ping in a game with a fairly long TTK is jarring.

yeah the ttk feels very inconsistent, it must be netcode issues or something. this happens to me very often during both betas now. even with the same gun/loadouts a lot of people are just able to kill me much faster than im able to get them even when landing multiple headshots.

yeah i thought the one way shield was going to be a big problem but only saw it on my first escort game. Everyone else seemed to be rocking the goggles and suit although i killed a few suit users running round. i assumee someone sitting still on a line of sight will be a pain.

Only played 4 matches, but the game seems pretty good so far. The gun play feels nice, maps are good, and the game mods were cool too. I love how honest/open and passionate the devs are about this game. They’re not trying to be a “cod killer”, just trying to make a game that we can all enjoy. And of course its a beta so we can’t fully judge it yet. Unlike Mw2 where they release the full game, call it a beta and use us as test dummy’s just to not listen to any feedback. Haven’t enjoyed Cod in a long time and I hope this is a game that I can supplement my fps fun with.

Controller still feels pretty bad. They're going to have to significantly improve that if they hope to succeed. Way too much competition on PC in the FPS space for M&K players, they won't maintain a significant player base there. They are going to need console controller players and they way it currently feels, they aren't going to keep those players long term

Been playing for about 5 hours in total since yesterday, and I've only won 2 games. I constantly get paired up with players who's k/d is below .5 in every game, with the other team being stacked with heavy hitters. I've also noticed that enemies often spawn near me or behind me. Another big "problem" for me is trading. I seem to trade kills in almost every gunfight, and more often than not, its me against 2-3-4 others. Am I just bad, or is there a reason for these things? I did not experience this level of skewed balance in the closed beta. Edit: Another point, I get a lot of shoot first, die first moments, which is very frustrating

I played 10 games. The first 9 with a friend and we lost every single one of them often with big margins as well. Then he quit and I immediately won the next game easily. I was third best on my team and close in score to the two in front so I was not carried. He is around same level as me so it dont really make much sense to me unless there is some negativ factor in joining in with a pre made party.

If you pull back el remedio the time is only 7s to reload. So if you pull it back with 1s remaining you use it only to the max and you can use a short reload time

The game can be good but there’s so many problems. Hip firing is worthless, I was shooting point blank and did no damage. Head shots either register or doesn’t. It’s better at being consistent at being inconsistent

That radial heal feels incredibly broken right now. I will be unloading on someone and because they're standing in that circle they don't die. I don't think there should ever be a situation where it can outheal direct fire. Also the flamethrower range is very unintuitive. It seems like the range extends beyond the actual fire animation

Just the net code update was HUGE !!!!! The game is so much more responsive, in the closed beta it was like you where forcing your aim , now it's pretty smooth . And the 120 support was top notch that was the only thing I was hoping they would add , closed beta vs open beta is a huge improvement and I am getting pretty excited for this game , I see people crying about the game being free but them having a store ! Are you serious!!! You will pay 110 bucks for cod and then buy all the items in its store and thats fine but the fact this game is free with a store is a problem

I tried it for a couple of hours, I'm not having fun with the game at all. While I like how gunplay feels, I'm not a huge fan of the maps nor the specialist system. IMO the specialist system is a major turn off for me.

I can’t even seem to get into the core gameplay at all. Maps as you said were horrible imo, besides of course the small one that plays like shoot-house basically. I’d much rather play BO4 in 2023 than play this game. BO4 overall seems much more polished movement wise, gunplay wise, and map wise. Only drawback was the overpowered specialists, but I always used Crash. Oh and also the last CoD to not have SBMM in public games!

Played xdefiant for the first time today. It feels more like shatterline than cod. I found it just okay, and it wasn't going for what I wanted out of an arcade shooter, and thus didn't scratch the classic cod shooter itch that modern cod has also been failing for me for years now. What didn't change is the L1 and L2 flip not working. Holly shit that's such a big deal for me in the game right now because how I can't move around the map. So many times I need to jump over something quick but I'm ADSing instead and fucking die. It's such an easy fix and they haven't done it yet.

I got turned off because I couldn't get the same Linear aiming with max sensitivity and no acceleration like I can in BF and COD. The movement is also floaty unlike MW2. The ADS FOV zoom isn't configurable. I couldn't even get to enjoy the shooting because of all of that. Let's hope they provide a feedback channel to send them all of this.

A PAID BLUEPRINT IN THE COD STORE IS DEFECTIVE WITH NO OPTION FOR A REFUND 😤 I wish COD would fix the basic bug issues with their game…just used some spare CODpoints two nights ago to get the shiny new green tracer pack for the ISO45 smg, and now the game boosts the brightness on this brand new blueprint so that you’re blinded every time the gun is out while playing on any hardcore playlist. Restarting the app/console doesn’t fix the problem. Also, I can’t pull out the X12 pistol when it’s the secondary in combination with this ISO45 blueprint in any playlist currently either. X Defiant is sounding pretty juicy to play at this point!!

My takes: Console and PC controller users should absolutely have the same amount of aim assist. That's just dumb They nerfed the wrong part of Libertad, the passive heal is the much bigger issue, example: the m4 does 17 base dmg per hit which means that 6 hits gets you a kill with 102 damage. This means that if they manage to heal 3 points of health at anytime in the fight, it now takes you 7 hits to kill Pistols are still completely useless Faster base health regen is good so the game doesn't feel too slow Movement spam penalty should have been left alone, jump spamming mnk players are one of the most toxic things in shooters these days

That statement there at 2:05 had me dying laughing, if it's going to support 120hz on both platforms, why do console players need a crutch? Especially if they're pushing cross-platform. Poor choice in my opinion, and it sounded like Ace was thinking the same as well.

What does 120hz have to do with aim assist? Aim assist solves the problem of mouse being a better input than controller and attempting to balance that inequality, nothing to do with refresh rate really. No aim assist on PC has to be an oversight or maybe a technical? Can’t imagine it being intentional.

Cold war was my last cod and i only play zombies, not a big mp guy and honestly i just run n gun with no sense or care. Played xdefiant for 2 hrs total and got the feel and hopped off. I guess im that much out of the fps loop that my opinions my not agree with others; i felt like i was dying way to quick, not a fan of multiple stats for attachments (just want a bo2 custom loadout), the safeguard mode is very one sided and was not a musing experience, abilities were ok but using the healer was circumstantial at best with the healing aura, the shooting range and tryouts was a big plus and something cod has lacked for a good min. My experience was average, i could’ve been playing inquisitor martyr but i got to experience the beta and what the game has to offer hopefully im able to adapt.
