Loved this one. Building a network of friends was the hardest part. I retired to an area that was the base of operations to keep in touch with work friends but work involved plenty of travel. I now have a circle that involves common interests and took a few years to build. Definitely worth the effort 😉

It is hard to figure parts of retirement out. We are clear on our wellness, our relationships, and more. And we keep evolving and trying new things. The most important thing for us is pushing each other to exercise and watch our nutrition. It’s hard at times but it pays off.

First off, cost of FP, including expense ratios of investments. Possibly more than you think.
@RetirementTransformed Жыл бұрын
Yes it can be an added cost, but we find comfort in the advice and perspective we get from our planner. He also helps our kids with questions they have as they need to make decisions on their savings such as 401ks at work, or buying a house or not. With interest rates as high as they are it can be confusing what to do.

I was expecting you to tell us about the 1% to 2% that CFP steal from your portfolio, resulting in 100's of thousands of lost dollars! YOU SHOULD BE TELLING PEOPLE TO NEVER ACCEPT AN AUM FEE! Only pay a CFP by the hour!
@CD-ql9hz Жыл бұрын
I completely agree. I can’t understand why people pay such fees. I see my primary care physician twice a year for exam, tests etc. But I don’t pay him 1% to 2% of my net worth as a fee!

Very much not the case. Financial planner can easily add 1% in value on a year to year basis. The dollar amount may seem large but when you take into the consideration of estate planning, tax planing, etc value that can be added much surpasses 1%

It’s fine to refer to a generic financial planner as ‘he’ because the vast majority are men. And it’s fine to say “Debbie downer” because everybody understands what you mean when you say that. This feminist tendency to recoil at every little perceived slight is irritating.
@RetirementTransformed Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment … not a feminist reaction but rather insight that in 2015 women made up only 15% of financial planners but in 2022 current statistics show they are now 30%…. So while still a minority percentage the growth in this area is great! Just recognizing that is a win. Have a great day!
