People tend to deny this type of information, because the implications are many: 1- if fishes feel pain and they don't want to contribute to their suffering, they'll need to stop eating fish, and they're too attached to the pleasure their taste buds can give to them. So they'll live with cognitive dissonance, and that causes discomfort. 2- if they believe in a God, they'll have to put all suffering of billions of fishes in the account of God, and that doesn't seem something a good God would do. And people don't want to stop believing in God, otherwise they would be desolate about what's life, since they rely highly on religion. 3- it shows how similar we are to creatures we usually dismiss as very different, which shows humans aren't so special as we think we are. 4- it shows how humans lack empathy, and this puts us as bad creatures. Who wants to be bad? Unfortunately truth is too much for some people, I just wish we could respect all living beings instead of giving excuses, such as "we need to eat", "it's natural" etc. We clearly don't need to eat animals. There's nothing natural in the way we breed animals and catch them in nature. It's a system that makes defenseless beings suffer in name of money. If it was a survival scenario, there would be no need to throw a net and catch millions of fishes, but simply catching one to satisfy hunger. Some people don't understand the suffering of others until it happens to them...

Rubbish!!!!!! The first thought that comes to my mind when I see a fish caught is how much pain she is going through. They appear super sensitive so they would feel as much pain. Actually it’s disturbing to watch them wringing when out of water. I don’t know how people think that they feel no pain or emotions. That’s very insensitive of us, I’d say.
@sysmixy3353 жыл бұрын
Well I think it’s the fact that we can’t hear fish screaming in the first place since they don’t have vocal cords. So unlike the animals that do have vocal cords, the sense of screaming disturbs us more than the sight of it. People most likely relate it in a sense of, “If it doesn’t quack like a duck, then it probably isn’t a duck,” to compare it to, “If it doesn’t scream, then it probably isn’t in pain.”

If people were more willing to learn about the alternatives instead of sticking to the "traditions" and the "normal" diet, then the big corporations might be more inclined towards a change. Sadly, the demand for animal products in general is high and the methods of welfare inspections are so ineffective in some cases they don't really serve any purpose but to make sure that the companies can continue making as much profit as possible.

Interesting but there is a whole lot to unpack under this topic such as the the study they mentioned in this video. One or two studies is not enough it’s important to have significant peer reviewed studies and research to prove this. A study could be done but to have a good non bias one is another story. In addition, some research have shown that the skin around the fishes mouth have very little nerves which means very little or no pain. Fish eat certain crustaceans and other fish with spines, claws, etc… they wouldn’t be eating that if was painful. Just something to think about.

My conscience won’t allow me to as they would just be causing the suffering instead of me. I grew up in the countryside where killing rabbits, fish, birds and foxes was seen as fun. Sochilinda I always thought that it is a human arrogant conception We don’t know how a plant "feel" when it’s ripped appart, it still dies. @Trogdor13655 жыл бұрын
@@Sochilinda new research has shown that plants communicate, make choices, compete with plants that are not related to then while sharing resources with plants that are (even when unrelated plants are the same species) and even selectively feed their saplings while ignoring others. I'm not making the argument that we shouldn't eat plants, but I think the research is fascinating. Also, just because an animal has basic survival instincts, that doesn't mean it's sentient. Many fish eat their own young when they are hungry. They have adapted to live in schools because it increases survival, but do they feel distress when a member is taken? That would be an interesting study, but I would guess not. They don't form bonds and they have no capacity for higher thinking. They are not sentient. Fishing should be done in a cruelty free and sustainable way. I'm, personally, more concerned about how overfishing can hurt truly sentient beings like whales. But I respect your decision to not participate in the harm of any animals.

It's not about feeling pain it's about comprehension of pain 🤦♂️

Exactly, fish don’t even know what pain and suffering is. They “know” very minimal things. Their reactions are like our knee jerk reflexes.

@@deeprecce9852 how about not paying for someone to kill that animal in the first place? I mean.. It's not even necessary for us to eat meat.. We can live a healthier life without eating animals and their secretions.. So why not?

@@aaryo_dhravidan Him, you or me choosing to not eat the fish on our platter will change nothing, there'll always be people who will eat meat. Get over it, were omnivores, we eat other animals and plants alike. Well eat a living being no matter what, its shat life is, it's not cruel, its just what it is. Kill or be killed, that applies to all. It isn't wrong to feel bad though, that is the right thing to do, because as humans, we have the luxury to do that, it's a responsibility we have, to consume like any other living being, but respect the life of the consumed.

Sorry but I love fish. They are just really delicious. When I was seeing the video, I was drooling over the fish. Please don't mind me.
