I used to have a mudskipper about 20 years ago. I still miss that little guy. He was one of the most engaging little pets I ever had. Imagine being able to take your fish for a walk. He would also eat from my hand. Now, if only they could breed in captivity. Until that happens, I won't have another. Please don't deplete the wild population. At the time I had mine, I did not know that. That being said, my fish was the most engaging little pet fish I ever had. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have to say though, sometimes it's in the hand.

@@notaclue638 Unfortunately no, all mudskippers I know of are caught in the wild. I'll not have another unless I know they can be captive bread. I haven't seen any being sold in pet stores, but then I haven't looked. That being said, I don't want the wild population being depleted. Even so, they are very engaging little animals, and a joy to have around. If you do manage to get one, they need a wet/dry environment with brackish water. (sort of half way between salt and fresh.) My mud-skipper spent most of his time at the waterline, sort of half in and half out. Note: this is my own experience. I expect each one will have it's own personality, as with any other animal I've had. So, don't expect your experience to mirror mine in detail if you do get your hand on one. Also, they are sensitive to their environment. They don't really live long, but a balanced environment will ensure the longest possible lifespan. I also worked with mine every day. It took time to build trust.
