Persona feels like a no brainer for the Switch 2. Joker got into Smash and Atlus is now porting the mainline games to multiple platforms instead of just PlayStation, including the Switch with the P5R, P4G, and P3P ports. Persona 3 Reload has been rumored to be coming to Switch 2, and Persona 6 could potentially launch on Switch 2 day in day with the other versions

Persona 3 Reload, Metaphor Refantazio, and Persona 6 are basically confirmed for switch 2, I mean it just makes too much sense. I do hope P6 does launch day and date with switch 2, as I don’t want to have to buy it on Ps5 and then Switch 2 again

Ain't no way Nintendo is packaging any Zelda game they currently sell for full price as a bundle with another game in any shape or form. A TOTK new edition with new content by itself is far more likely. Or frankly, BOTW with it's DLC for $70.

As a BG3 fan, the best part about it is being able to pick up from any point, play for as long as you want and then put it back down. It’s awesome to have on a Steam Deck and having it on Switch 2 would make it even more convenient, assuming its battery would be better than a Steam Deck’s!

There's a clear problem with the idea of an Ultimate Deluxe: Sakurai mentioned on his KZbin channel that he makes a conscious effort to make each Smash game he works on distinct, hence why he did Brawl instead of Melee Online for Wii. Given that he mentioned this mindset recently, it's reasonable to believe that Sakurai still holds this belief today. So I doubt he'd be satisfied with just porting over Ultimate with new content & calling it a day. Not to mention that since backwards compatibility will almost certainly be a thing, a port of Ultimate would be a tougher sell than MK8 -> MK8D was & would risk splitting the player base for what's basically the same game for no good reason. This could apply to most of the other Deluxe suggestions you mentioned. So yeah, the best & most realistic path forward for Smash is a soft reboot that refreshes certain characters (Sonic, Samus, Ganondorf, etc.) without hitting the reset button completely. And as long as the major players (Mario, Luigi, Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, Inkling, Villager, Isabelle, Pikachu, etc.) are kept, the average joe wouldn't get too disappointed about losing the more expendable characters (Roy, Corrin, Piranha Plant, Dr. Mario, Pichu, Young Link, etc.). On GTAVI, I don't see the Switch 2 being able to run the game based on what we've seen (probably due to CPU limitations). Tekken 8 might also be a tough port for the same reason, though that may have some chance of happening given that it runs ok on Steam Deck. I do agree with you on Street Fighter 6 & 2XKO, though. Hell, throw in MultiVersus as well (if it survives long enough) to cash in on the platform fighter market before Smash comes along.

using sakurai as a source is a slippery slope. he said he was against dlc. he said he’d stop working on smash since melee. he says a LOT that he ultimately goes against. backward compatibility hasn’t proven to stop remasters in any other instance, it’s idealistic to assume nintendo would all of a sudden stop that practice especially given the fact that deluxe edition content can be patched in.

And at a point where he's likely already begun some form of development for the next Smash game, as video production (which is done in batches months in advanced) began to slow down considerably in early 2023 to the point where the output went from 3 per week to 2.

yeah ik he said it recently but check the timeline between his DLC statement & mewtwo being added to smash. i’m not saying he’s lying or anything like that but there’s at least concrete proof that his standards don’t always align with nintendo’s & they have the final say. if nintendo says “yo, we know you claim to not know how to 1-up the biggest fighting game of all time & we won’t make you try. just add to it with improvements for our next platform” i don’t think those standards would lead to him saying no just like his standards in the past didn’t lead him to tell them no the many times that his stated views conflicted with what ultimately came to be.

@@WatchReDirect But he at least has enough of a say to sway things. Even with Smash's DLC, Nintendo only really chose the game or franchise of the character. Sakurai maintained the freedom to pick the character within that game/franchise (Ex: Min Min for ARMS, Kazuya for Tekken, Terry for SNK, etc.). And like I said earlier, as long as you keep as many of those critical characters I previously mentioned as possible, a soft reboot should go over just fine if the rest of the game is feature-packed to compensate. Other fighting games go through this all time, with even Mortal Kombat having to go back from having everyone in Armageddon to cutting down the roster in MK9. Hell, Pokémon had some backlash with the whole Dexit controversy that amounted to no real negative impact in sales.

So glad you mentioned Nintendogs and Kid Icarus Uprising as both are sorely needed. If the rumors are true about the next console having a microphone they'd be crazy to sleep on Nintendogs, and I've been hoping the smoke around Bandai Namco developing a Nintendo remake could be promising. KIU deserves a console experience with better controls. A big third party game like Baldur's Gate or Elden Ring would be great to show that Nintendo will keep it's third party relationships strong. ARMS was so good, just a little barebones. If they flesh it out more and don't kneecap it with a big release the following month it could be a much bigger franchise. Mario and Mariokart are just a given. I'd be delighted to see DK come back and see what they could do with modern day sensibilities. Finally, one franchise I didn't hear you mention but I want is StarFox. That's one that feels like it has a ton of potential with the right game. I only played the DS game but it was a good tone and I'd definitely be up to try a new game at this point.

The Switch game launch line up for the first few months was pretty bad to me, personally. We had the amazing Breath Of The Wild. Then there was 1, 2 Switch, Bomberman and maybe one other title? Then you had to wait for the online to offer much for that time. Besides like Metal Slug and the knock off F-Zero game. Then in May 2017 we got Mario Kart 8 Delux. Which was a Wii U port. We got a Street Fighter II and though cool...it was an old classic. I wanna see the next Nintendo system have a great, decent sized launch line up. I think we will eventually get a Mario Kart on it. But it will be finally a new one. Meanwhile...I think Nintendo will pull a Mario Kart 8 Delux, with Smash Ultimate. I think we will get a Smash Ultimate Delux instead of a new Smash. And I wanna see one to three 1st party titles in the lineup. And some AAA titles...Likely we'll see Metroid Prime 4. I wanna see COD in the launch titles. Maybe a new Punch-Out! Or F-Zero? A new Wave Race or 1080 maybe? Possibly a new Red Steel or Conduit? There's a lot of Nintendo exclusive games between N64-Wii that they could totally revisit for launch titles. Or at least 2nd and third quarter games.
