Trad you want to go out with someone experienced and just ask them what extra gear would round out their rack. Then leave it at that for a good while, taking opportunities to try different brands/gear from different climbers. Eventually you'll know intuitively. I see a lot of new climbers try to figure it out from the internet and in process waste so much money buying random stuff.

Just a quick comment, your facts about quickdraw gates are wrong. Full gates do not clip more securely, since they can open if a carabiner is hit into the wall, due to their mass. Therefore wired gates are more “secure” by that measure. Also, wire gated quickdraws are almost always a few bucks more expensive than standard gate. I agree on that annoying hook though. Very informative video nevertheless. Peace out!

I believe I was thinking mainly about carrot bolts when I wrote the script - you 100% want to use solid gates on carrots. Thanks though
