What Generator is This? Will it Run?

This generator was found on Craigslist and was already taken apart. It wasn't hard to figure out that it is a Honda generator, but why is it not getting any spark?

Excellent repair job Sir!!! You got a great talent there! I went to Texas one time in the summer. It was hotter than the sun. I own two gensets. A 2021 Honda EU3000is and a 2023 Yamaha EF4500ise. Both purchased new and both made in Japan. The Honda was $1799 with military discount from Lowes. The Yamaha was $2699 from Amazon with their Cyber whatever sale in December of 2023. Money well spent and a great investment in solid equipment. Cheers!

Great work. I have worked on a couple of the eu3000is generators. They are great when they run. I had a Honda em2500c that has the same look with the magnetics and stator. Almost half the magnetics had come off the flywheel and the stator had partially burnt up. I re-glued the magnetics and carefully rewound and varnished the stator. Runs good now. Thanks for the video.

10 years ago we had a freak weather events it was almost hurricane type of weather. The most I have ever waited for electric to come back on was 2 to 3 hours. This time it was 5 days. I was in good shape I had two working generators that I kept on switching to so I would not run the hours up on one of them. After that I had bought so many generators that I could light my neighborhood up. I enjoyed your video and look forward to watching more

Where are you located? I stocked up on generators myself. I have three gas generators and a solar generator ready for a power outage.

Can’t believe those magnets came off, nice find! For as dirty as that gas tank was I’d put a good gas filter inline, also clean or replace the filter in the tank and completely clean the gas valve. One other thing to clean is the spark arrestor, they plug up. I also found the same inverter on Craigslist that didn’t run, when I got it home and inspected it the intake rocker arm was off, I put it back on and it runs like a champ 😁👍

I'm replacing the screen on the tank and adding another filter inline. Turned out to be a nice generator.

Wow that was a basket or box of messed up looking generator. You did a fantastic job of diagnosing everything and getting to the bottom of the problem. Yes clean the gas tank at least one more time or get another tank that will work for it. This is to good of a generator to let a bad tank ruin your day. Great job and thanks for the videos.

I'm giving the tank another round of cleaning them replacing the screen and adding a filter. Turned out to be a pretty nice generator.

I had that same problem with a trolling motor on a boat that I had owned. Reglueing the magnet fixed it.

I just worked a 3000is. It's easy to install the parts wrong when you go to reassemble it.

Figured you would put on the dual fuel carb and run it on propane to get away from the tank. Nice job!

I am definitely thinking about a dual fuel carb. It is a tight fit, so I'll probably have to modify the frame a little.

sounds like the loose magnet was interfering with the magneto. If you can get the gas tank cleaned you will have a winner.

Champion generator is much easier to work on. I just did both, Honda and champion.

Try removing or cleaning the spark arrestor screen.those get clogged.
