The correct word for "rumgeschrien" is "herumschreien". That´s why you could not find it on dict, but you translated it in the right way! "rumgeschrien" means "herumgeschrien" (a lot of people don´t say the "her" at the beginning). You can use the word "herumgeschrien" in a sentence in the tense with "haben/sein" (past tense? not sure what to call it sorry). For example: Sie hat nur herumgeschrien (= She just shouted out loud.). It´s not present tense, that´s the other reason you could not find it in dict. :)

One word I would use to describe German people after watching this video is modest. They are so open to other cultures and think their way of life is better, but in fact Germans aren't that grumpy, and life isn't that stressful in Germany. I only went there once but I could tell they like having fun just as much as we all do, they're just too shy to express it. Love from Lebanon.

I was so excited when she mentioned Colombia :) I don't know why people say germans are cold though, almost everyone in this video looked so nice and friendly.
@carinfo2490
@carinfo2490 7 жыл бұрын
They're not cold. Germans always like to complain and criticize themselves. Also people don't open up in 2 years with you like that Iranian ethnic girl told. I am Iranian and live in the Netherlands, been to Germany many times, and have many German friends. I became friend with those Germans most of the time in the first meeting. Maybe older Germans are harder to open up, but still when I traveled to Munster, Dusseldorf, Cologne, and Dortmund, whenever I was lost and needed to find a station or a shop's address I asked older people, and they were still friendly and helpful. Moreover regarding paying for others when you go to restaurant, that could differ too, I remember the first time I went to Germany, my German friends paid for my dinner. To sum it up, because of history of Germany, German people have been educated to always complain, blame and shame themselves. The thing is you can find cold, unfunny, bad, disingenuous, and stingy people anywhere in the world.

When you dine together and only pay for yourself... that WON'T happen in China ever. Unless it's young ppl going out and have reached an agreement beforehand to pay individually, which is ridiculous to people their parents' generation. They think it's impolite, and unfathomable, but as a young person I do think it makes everything easier. But still, I find it hard explaining why I didn't pay for everyone to my parents or older family members 🤦🏻‍♀️

I'm from Peru, and I'm living eighteen years in Austria. The austrians are supposed to be softer than the germans, but anyway they approach the german character. What I like of living in Austria is that everything works. The people are not so warm as in other parts of the world, but they are correct and well educated (polite). I think that it is important for society to have responsability like the austrians and germans. That is a form of love, because not doing you duty perfectly sometimes has tragic consequences for the live of other people.

I'm American, and my boss is German. He has been here for decades, but doesn't totally understand Americans yet. For instance, Americans tend to take their jobs seriously without taking themselves too seriously. He mistakes this for not taking the job seriously. A guy I went to college with worked in tourism and he learned not to smile around Germans. They would assume someone is an idiot because of that.

Germans are sadly emotional repressed. They do not bring the matter to the heart, but always to the HEAD. They start co-fabulating and philosophizing about a certain theme. Yes... they simply suffocate their emotional instinct. Affection transmission or vibrating compliments are uncomprehensable for them. Sooo, that's why they admire those mentioned things on other cultures and countries.

Wow, du kannst ja sogar Sprichwörter wie "Ins Auge springen"! Super! :D

I'm late to this party and just now finding this neat channel. I lived in Germany for a few years while in the army. I enjoyed the culture there. I'm not a chitchat, small talk kind of person and I don't like beating around the bush like most Americans do. I'd import that here to the US along with the education that Germans have. They are much smarter and more engaged in what's going on than we are here.

I met an old German lady on the train in Germany. I asked her the station( Würzburg) I had to get and she kindly let me know the station. Howerver, she suddenly told me my pronunciation was wrong and tried to correct my German pronunciation for about ten minutes. (because I pronounced "u(woo)" instead of " ü".....)She kept going on until I spoke as she taught. Thanks to her I could distinguish the differnece between u and ü on the day. It was one of my good memories in Germany.

I love Germany and the reason why life in Germany sounds so 'stressful' is because one is expected to work efficiently. It is one thing to go visit or even live in a country for some months where everything is 'locker' but when one lives in an inefficient system then yes you might not have the stress to meet some deadlines at work but while you are chilling and not proceeding with your work, someone else is waiting for you to finish your job and is in stress. Germans romanticize this notion of easy-going life but living in such an inefficient country for a long period of time can build up a lot of stress. Chaos is a fun change for them but it's not fun when your life is affected by it on a daily basis.

The Germans always look very positive, with smiling faces and the old generation people are accurate and attractive to look at. The Germans are curious, but at the same time discreet and know the limits. They are helpful and happy when foreigners try to talk German. They like going out and interested in many things in life. They are interesting to talk to. Of course, there are always exceptions in this world, too.

Ah good to hear we're treating you well and you're enjoying it :) yeah I can imagine if you're used to being left alone when you go out it might be a little much to have strangers chat to you a lot, but they mean well. I hope it doesn't bother you too much! it's not being nosey, it's just that most Irish people are genuinely curious and interested in others and like making that connection. And we're a small country with a small population so people have that stronger sense of community than some other places. Outside of Dublin anyway. Are you planning to stay much longer? what part of the country are you in? I'm actually living in Germany right now with my German fiance-Stuttgart. People are nice but a bit more...formal I would say. Am staying for a few years then returning home to Ireland.
@greenknitter
@greenknitter 6 жыл бұрын
Ah ok, I just saw your other comment in German. One year in Cork and half year in Dublin. I love Cork, especially West Cork, so beautiful. Agree with you on the rubbish and dog crap problem though general cleanliness has improved I think. I was in Berlin last Christmas and New Year and thought Dublin was cleaner though actually! but the Pfand system...YES we should have that in Ireland too! politicians have been talking about it lately so maybe it will happen??
@greenknitter
@greenknitter 6 жыл бұрын
Well I'm cynical too then because I thought of the benefits to homeless and very poor system if we introduced the Pfand system also. Some people won't care about the money back and will dump bottles and cans in waste bins so that could earn a few extra euro for homeless people who were prepared to collect them. It's awful I know and of course not any kind of solution to the problem but I saw them do so in Sweden where they have a similar return system so if it helps them surely it's something good, as well as the obvious environmental benefits. Yes Berlin is massive of course but I think other big German cities like Hamburg would be cleaner? Berlin seems to me to be the most "unGerman" city in many regards :) so yes maybe it's not fair to compare a much smaller city like Dublin. Where I'm from-Waterford is very clean-officially the cleanest city in the country, so we can do it if we want to! I think we don't place so much emphasis on a place having to be spotlessly clean as Germans do, however people feel about that. Maybe being a Catholic country has something to do with it-none of the Protestant or Puritan sense of "cleanliness is next to Godliness" and making a moral virtue of it in Ireland. I heard about that-people being uptight and a bit stingy here in Swabian land. I haven't been here long enough to tell yet. My favourite part of the country so far is the Thuringen Wald where by fiance is from, stunningly beautiful.

There's a joke about Berlin: it's the only place, where war-criminals feel uncomfortable. ...if only looks for an explanation, it might be worthwhile to have a hardy and long brainstorm why there's no mega-city in Germany. Four million berliners is quite astounding for the population of a capital city, isn't it?

I’ve never been to Germany but my Ancestors are from there. I live in Duchesne, Utah in the USA. It’s a small town of 1500 people that’s located in North Eastern Utah. The culture here is very Laid back and we generally have dinner with different families once or twice a month. They either come to my house or I go to theirs. We play a lot of outside games together or board games inside during the colder season. We eat a large variety of foods from other cultures including pasta, pizza, fried fish, Gyros, and alot of Tacos. The cost of living is fairly cheap in comparison to larger cities but with Amazon and eBay it feels about the same. I really enjoyed your video and I will look at the others you have made. Take care and thank you for making these. Its a-lot of fun to see and hear from everyday German people.
