This is a system I have built many times before so I have a jig to know where everything goes. When doing a new car you need to constantly be going back and forth under the car to get everything in the right spot.

Can you make a video on how to weld the hanger rod onto the pipe?

Sick skills. Love the jig - would love to see more on that. Are you backpurging with the same tank that you're shielding the tig welds with? If so, do you just tee off the main line, and does the flow rate change at all? If not, are you using a second tank? I've seen folks backpurge with a 2nd tank, but only saw one tank in your vid and looked like it was coming off the same tank. Thanks !
@Kordare2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Sorry for the late response. Normally I use a second tank but when I only have one tank left I use a tee with two regulators and it works great. Keep in mind backpurge only needs like 1cfh to keep positive pressure.

Can you confirm welder, welder settings, I.E voltage & filler rod size. Also what SS composition ; 304 16g?

@@Kordare Thanks so much for the info and inspiration to get started. I’m looking at an AMICO 140. Looking at specs it only does 140 on 230v supply and only kicks 100 on 120v power source. If you only ran 50amps, that confirms the machine I’m looking at is capable of doing the job. Can’t say the same about the person... Thanks again.

Kordare I’ve got the welding part down, I work for a company that welds awning and horse stalls so I do a lot of aluminum and carbon steel my trouble comes from fabricating and understanding how to bend where to bend and such
@Kordare4 жыл бұрын
@@slugwelding5879 oh okay yeah that will really just come from experience. It's definitely an art to be able to cut and fit tubing for exhaust systems. I do buy mostly all straights and u-bends and cut what I need from them. I don't actually bend any tubing myself.

Honestly dont remember the brand, got it at the local welding store. Go there and they should have a good suggestion.
@Dr_Xyzt4 жыл бұрын
Check out Walter abrasives. They have a lot of products. As time goes on, you'll find that having variable speed tools makes a big difference in the quality of work you're able to do, and how tired you get when you're doing it. Another good combination is a variable speed dewalt grinder, and 5/8" to 1/4" arbor conversion so you can use little 2" die grinder cutoff wheels for deburring. The dust goes down into the tube, instead of all over your shop/lungs.

Bro. Get a lift-arc TIG, an extra ground clamp with an eyelet on the end, PTA-17V torch, and some gas lenses. Rig up a disconnect pedal using that second ground clamp. All-in, with the 150 cf bottle, gas lenses, big fixed shade helmet, wire, you're looking at $1K.
