"We live in different worlds" !- Boy, do we! Thanks for taking us along! And I really liked the discussion of both the technical side and composition. I keep telling people around me they shouldn't worry too much about the technical, because cameras do such a good job on automatic these days that it lets them work on their composition skills. But sometimes, the technical does matter a lot. And it did with this one.

Thanks, it's a great technique especially for those telephoto shots where your subject is around the horizon and will have tons of atmospheric distortion

Love this! I've been wanting to see and now shoot a rocket launch live for a long time. I get to Florida a few times a year to visit my P's in Boca. I was Just down there a few weeks ago and I knew there was supposed to be a launch, but I was going to miss It by a day. On my way back home I camped a few days and I was hanging out on the beach probably 20-40 miles north of Canaveral. Me not paying attention to anything but peace and the sound of the waves, I happen to notice a small crowd gathering. I thought nothing of it. Unless I'm intentionally shooting seascapes my gear stays far away from the sand because it gets in and on everything. A few minutes pass and now I notice even more commotion. With my gear in my Jeep, off in the distance......there it is, a Falcon 9 soaring into space. I was at least able to get a cruddy iPhone shot of a realllllllllly small rocket in the distance. Thanks to this episode I will be downloading the apps mentioned so I will not miss it again. P.S. The sonic boom was awesome to hear!!
